so just curious, if you pre-ordered and then got bumped to the 2nd shipment, what does EB give you in return for you giving them your $50 or whatever it was months early? If pre-ordering doesn't get you the console or something in return for not getting it, then whats the point.

also that press release about all games having at least 2x FSAA but targeting 4x FSAA... i thought the 360's video chip was laid out in a manner that basically gives 4x FSAA for free... so why would any game have the lesser 2x ? strange

 

The 10mb of eDRAM can only hold 4x AA in the frame buffer if tiling is used by the graphics engine. Since many early games are ports of existing engines (games made for the PS2 and Xbox) they do not use tile rendering for the graphics so the AA needs to be bumped down slightly to fit in the 10mb or eDRAM. Later games will take full advantage of the graphics capabilties.

I just played call of duty 2 for x box 360 a lot of fun i wasnt impressed with the graphics but it ran so smooth it kinds felt like i was in the game cant wait 1 more week.

Today I got a call from Gamestop basically saying I won't get my XBOX 360 on launch date because there is a huge shortage, but not to worry I will get it before Christmas. That is so vague and I was looking foward to playing the new system next week. Microsoft ought to do better than this. They have made a lot of angry customers. If we were giving the opportunity to pre-order the system before the shut-off date we should be gaurenteed the product on the launch date. I pre-ordered my system in July and still missed the launch date
I pre-ordered it so early I get the premium system for $299.99, so I don't want to go anywhere else and pay $100.00 more for it.

The reason was because M.S. didnt know how they would price the systems but stores allowed you to pre-order it anyway. I made sure I got clarification twice about that.

Okay, so I just found out that Costco will be selling the 360 on the release date... I thought, at first, that they probably wouldn't get their shipment in til later... but I stopped by the local Costco just about an hour ago, and just happen to ask the membership people if they knew when they were getting their shipment in... so, the guy looked it up in their system and told me that they are going to start selling on the release date, but getting only 24 units... However, he added that I was actually one of the first people to inquire about the 360, and if I get there before they open, I should be able to get one...

... it's also sold in a bundle @ $479.99, but the computer didn't state if it will be the 360 with the hard drive... the employee thinks it will be... with one game and two controllers.

...so, go to YOUR local Costco, and ask... they'll tell you how many will be coming in... I'm assuming that all the Costco's will be carrying it... but I'm pretty sure that some Costco with higher volume will get more than 24 units... the one by my house is a smaller one.

Was in GameStop last night, they had a 360 set up with demos. Store was completely empty, but I didnt have time to try all the games. I started the Call of Duty demo. Graphics are good, but I dont think that far ahead of PS2/XBox. Controller sucks, too big and buttons are too small. Didnt fit right in my hands. But, I have never even touched an original Xbox controller EVER and am strictly a PS player, so XBOX peeps may like it I guess. I wont be waiting in line for this regardless.

Walmart doesnt take preorders, i dont know if walmart is big around your area but not many people go to the local walmart in my area and i think its the best bet at least for me.

A component cable is not better than a DVI/HMDI but that is a mute point because XBOX 360 does not support DVI/HDMI. FYI...The Premium package already comes with the component cables.
