ok guys, i need a driving lesson:

how do i drive rally???

I seem to spin out no matter what I try.
I'm using the toyota RAID rally car I won.

I think the only thing that's working for me is to jerk the wheel into the turn BEFORE the turn, causing my car to slide and then modulate the gas to get grip and accel out of the turn...sounds easy but hard as hell for me!

 

hmm just watched the replay of myself and it LOOKS like i'm doing the right thing...just gotta get the hang of it now. I'm doing the rally races with AT... haha MT would be too much to think about

IM STUCK!!!

I am trying to complete the second last set of races in the Professional League before I can move on any further. This is the set of races where it must be a production car with over 493whp. I have completed all the tracks but the last race. I have an Sl65amg and thought I had all the settings right. It has over 900hp and for some reason no matter what I do the Cien keeps walking away from me at the end.

Can anyone recomend a better car for this race?????

Biggest PS2 launch ever for the ultimate driving simulator

15:05 Sony's GT4 has finally pulled on the handbrake and stopped dead on European shop shelves - and it's managed to smoke the record for the biggest PS2 game launch ever.
Over 3 million copies (3,182,535 if you must know) of the hardcore driving simulator pulled into stores across PAL territories last night. That's the single largest number of PS2 games ever shipped on launch day.

Of course, it's not how many copies are on shelves but how many copies sell that counts. It'll be interesting to see how it does now that the racing genre has moved so far forwards since GT3.

But despite lacking the anticipated online mode and still turning its back on car damage, GT4 shouldn't have too many problems. It's still pretty bloody brilliant.

 

your best bet is to win (and use) the Minolta Toyota racecar - get it at the El Captain 200 Miles endurance event.

you will pull your hair out trying to win this event with anything else.

Hmm... I haven't got to those races yet (actually, just starting), but I can't say if anyone is there from what I've seen.

it also wont allow me to use racing tires.. which really sucks. And it seem as thought I need alot of power in this race since all the other cars are really fast. When I down tuned the car the Cien walked away from me even more!

oh shoot..... my bad. I thought you were talking about the last race. for the Supercar Festival, I used a Saleen S7. honestly you should be able to win that race with a stock SL65... add some power if you want to seal the deal.

 

none of the RUFs have enough HP from the factory! this is getting really annoying!

 

Damn... maybe you just need to go buy a Cien

wait so you cannot enter the cien, but you race a cien? that sound contradicting. its like entering a FF race but you have FR cars in there too......

yeah its pretty stupid. there are alot of cars in there that shouldnt qualify. I have about 20% done and just want to get this done so the game opens up a bit more.

 

the computer pulls some sheit like that once in a while... nothing you can really do about it

i think then you should look into doing the special comditions races to get more % done and open endurance so u can get minolta, or do the one make races, do the mercedes ones, then nissan if u got a nismo 400 or any skyline, and rack up points like that. the driving missions also add % done.

i think that any skyline cam be used for the race of emblems and that the same skyline can be used for the japan 90's era races.

 

I used the Nismo400 to knock off the Skyline comp in Nissan...

hehe... I'm going to have to start keeping a diary on what cars I used for what...

that's the reason i bought an sl65 rather then an slr, i can race the sl in the mercedes one make race in the SL challange and in the other one. its good to look ahead in the game, one car might be able to win multiple races.

 

I mentioned that before as well... buy a car that the manufacturer has a race for as well, and one that you can use to knock off two or more race conditions...

ok fine, honestly I was in the same boat with Mr. Cien. I exited the race, and entered it again and Mr. Cien was not in the lineup anymore, and I won the race using the S7... and that was honestly all I did to win.

 

hmmm... that does happen from time to time...

I was in one race where this NSX beat the bejesus out of me... I ran a near flawless race (in Aspec) and could not get to him/her/it...

Then I came back the next night... not there anymore...

hehe...

damn just took the Toyota GT-One out.... I'm happy to report that while the car is not quite as stable as the XJR-9 straight out-of-the-box, it definitely has the potential to be. With some tuning, I think I can get it there.

The Cien is going to own in long straightaway races. I don't recall if that series that's trying to be done is more straight, curvy, or mixed but there's always one bully car and that may be the target. You're probably not going to be able to find a car that'll meet it's straight speed unless you mod out a Viper but I haven't tried one yet. I'd probably try to get 25% to go endurance from somewhere else or the reset trick. If I had to race that car, I'd try my Stage 2 500+ hp R34 and see how that manages. With ASM tuned you should own him on turns and low end speed. Maybe for straightaway runs use the Stage 4 turbo for more top end.

 

btw, is there any way to save the screen setting for hdtv so i dont have to keep waiting 3 minutes for the load time and then switching to hdtv then loading again?

 

Geez the NSX Type S Zero or whatever was owning my ass when I was like 350hp with my Skyline in the Turbo series. Now I walk his ass with my Z Concept or even Cien. Pick your poison.

I used the GT1 in GT3 and wasn't impressed vs the 787B. If IRC it was too torquey and I prefer high revvers like the 787B. I've yet to drive an F1 btw.

Speakin of F1's, over at v6p they're bitching about not being able to use F1's for sport tire races.

I beat the Supercar race with a lightly modded Ford GT.

 

I felt the same way about the GT-One in GT3.. it was just a monster and had unusable power for the most part... was all over the place on the track... I just remember drifting the hell out of that thing. The car is much different in GT4. It is easier to control, and is not as prone to full-on torque slide, or whatever you wanna call it. So that is good. It has 780hp stock.

About the F1's - yeah that is a complaint from the GT forums too... I guess Polyphony wanted it that way, since you can't even go into any options for the F1 in GT mode. If it's any consolation, you can choose the F1 car in Arcade mode and set Supersoft tires there. You can either choose it by loading your memory card or by scrolling all the way to the right of the car selection screen - the manufacturer is listed as Polyphony Digital, I believe...

btw the Jaguar XJR-9 is as fast, if not faster, than the F1... it also handles as well or better. In GT3, the F1 cars were arcade racers with ridiculous handling - the performance has been "toned down" quite a bit for GT4 - I would like to think the F1 simulation in GT4 is more realistic...

edit: oh oops you're talking about something else... about not being able to enter the F1 into the sports and simulation tire races LOL... anyway.
