So talking to the shop about going test pipes vs kooks long tubes and offroad pipe they said they preffer going that route over stock manifolds. They said if I do them now there will be zero charge for the install which does make them very tempting to be honest. My only concern then would be the noise level going to headers with no cats will put me at. The only bonus is right now I drive arround with the valved mufflers open and so I would then be able to drive with them closed most of the time if needed once adding headers which was one of the main reasons I chose my exhaust I did.

That's what I said cuhh!! honestly.. if you wanted to wait.. it's DIY.
Well.. aside from deck lid hone.. most of it is DIY.

If you can get a good price on them or they have at least retail price on them... I'd do it.
It's going to be loud AF with your exhaust, but I wouldn't worry about it.

I would agree with that guy on vowners, sell expensive catback.. put stock mufflers back with cutouts, recoup costs and have sweet setup.
Would be super mean and easy comfort db levels with the valve closed.

I don't have stock mufflers. I bought the car with Corsas and then sold them to J. I can't bring myself to sell the expensive exhaust cause I have wanted a Meisterschaft exhaust based on the sound for so long. I will just hope I can deal with it with the valves closed. Otherwise I will go back to factory manifolds with test pipes. As long as price is good then I guess kooks long tubes it is then.

Yeah it is all DIY and the labor costs really are not that much of the bill to be honest. I just need the car back as fast as possible and don't really have the time to do it myself right now. I would need those manuals as well we were talking about that are like $475.

I'm just saying if you wanted to take time to think about it, you have options.
They're doing the hard work already of removing the stock manifold exhaust.
Being DIY, if you don't like the kooks, it'll be a lot less painful removing them.

I'd do it.. plus resale on the kooks should be good. I'm sure someone would scoop them up.
I think the exhaust is going to sound effing mean. I wouldn't even sweat it.
I'm guessing the idle is going to be insane.. just that deep lobe chop!
Plus lots of wicked snaps after you let off..

Done. Just going to do them. I am in this deep what is a little more at this point.

Also at this point I guess I should drive up to the shop and grab the used ZL1 lid and have the brick reinforced and maybe turn in my old lid to them to cover the cost of it.

Just heard back. Custom test pipes $450 and Kooks long tube headers and offroad pipe $1800 and change. Well I guess headers it is then.

It is like 800. It is a cat back exhaust but you have to use the midpipe from kooks to use their headers the way the collector is designed.

i'm late... sorry to hear about this... but i would do the same thing if i had to tear apart my motor... overbuild is good...

if i had to put a guess on it, i think it was a shit tune on your high boost pulley when you bought the car...

So what are some opinions on getting the headers coated for heat? I see differencing opinions on it on the other forum

^ Personal opinion here... but unless you're tracking it fairly regularly... I've never bought into the hype...

I love my Aeroforce gauge! Just plug it into the OBD port and done. Shows everything you'd need in 1 gauge.

I assume I would need an additional cable for the aeroforce if I want to read A/F ratio though since it would need its own o2 sensor.

Not positive, but I think it reads it off the stock sensors through the OBD port. If not, they sell an Wideband kit.

IMO it's worth it. My shorties are silver ceramic coated and I can absolutely tell a difference in engine compartment temps when opening the hood now compared to the old stock cast iron manfolds. Might be less noticeable in the V since I'm sure they don't use cast iron exhaust manifolds like mine though.

Here's the deal.. once your cruising.. the under hood heat profile can fluctuate, but usually it stays relatively cool once your moving.
So it's best to ensure good flow to the filter. Keep her moving and the rest will take care of itself.
Now if you start tracking her.. every bit helps. For normal screwing around, regular commutes, road trips.. you're not going to see a difference.

The only time the under hood heat profile really gets hot is stuck in traffic and after you turn her off.
I'm not sure if you experienced it yet, but on a couple of occasions my rad fans have kicked on after I shut her off.

So it's a problem, but only if she's sitting.

Yeah to be honest I am not sure this car will ever see the track. If I want to hit a road course the TSX would be better suited for that handling wise. I have never really had a major desire to hit the drag strip either. Maybe with the power I will be putting down I will try it once or twice but I doubt it will ever become a regular thing.

Yes I have had that happen on a few occurances.

In the process of adding reinforced ZL1 brick and Ported LS7 throttle body to the list and then done. They got the motor pulled last week and I should know more from the tear down this week.

Well I missed out on the used LS7 throttle body on the forum. I guess forum message notifications were not working yesterday so I didn't see the message till late last night and then it had already sold Debating on picking one up new now but not sure. Still doing the reinforced brick though.

Any idea what the difference between the one from Tony and the one WeaponX sells is? What is the price from Tony? Is there a wait to get one?

if i'm not mistaken, the WeaponX one is their in house port... theirs run ~$400?, the one from Tony that he ports is just under $450 shipped... he had a few on the shelf that were at my door within two days... since i was very happy with his stock ported LSA one, i decided to stick with his port work... email/text him, he is a great guy to talk to, is obviously the LS guru... and he usually replied to my emails within 24 hrs... you could also just call/text him...

when i decide to throw some money at my Vagon, i'll be sending my snout and blower to tony so that everything can be matched up...

Mamo LS7 TB has been ordered. Tony said it will ship out on Monday. I guess he might not have any complete. Doesn't really matter though cause they won't be needing it by next week anyways yet.

Now I just need to figure out what I want to do about a gauge so I can monitor A/F ratio at all time.

Here are some of the ones I am considering.

CTS-V2 Racing by WEAPON-X Motorsports ? Aeroforce CTS V Gauge - dual monitoring

CTS-V2 Racing by WEAPON-X Motorsports ? NGK AFRM with NTK wideband 02 sensor

Another mounting possibility

CTS-V2 Racing by WEAPON-X Motorsports ? Aeroforce Gauge Mount for Ashtray
