Next up a tattoo of Calvin pissing on cheetahs!
Congrats on her, she's gorgeous and showing her love is fantastic.
I'm surprised she survived losing any races being from TJ.
Also a little surprised you didn't adopt a donkey since it was from TJ also.
I tried to adopt a donkey, but I was too far down the list. Maybe next time.

She is 100% spoiled. Three super comfy beds around the house and I'm pretty sure she has more toys than I ever did as a kid.
Thanks to someone very special in my life, I was able to fulfill a lifelong dream this past weekend and get behind the wheel of a Ferrari. I was able to do a few autocross laps in a 458 and it was absolutely amazing.
Somebody loves ya!
Closest I've come was sitting behind the wheel of a 430 & a 458 Challenge at a car show
A college friend's mom looked into a 1 day rental of a 360 for his dad (2005 or so). The daily cost wasn't terrible, it was the $30k deposit that went along with it that pulled the plug on the idea.
TLDR: Parked a Ferrari as a kid. Almost got fired from my job.
The closest I got to a Ferrari was when I was 18 (in the 80's), and I was working valet at a restaurant. A guy pulled up in his Testarossa (Miami Vice was quite popular) and flipped me the keys and said "Move it if you have to". So of course I had to. Being 18 and not to adept at a stick was a rough thing, but I managed to not fuck it up and put it in gear and slowly turn it around and have it face outward by the door. I went inside and told my high schooll buddy that a Ferrari was outside. He said "A 308" and I said no, a Testarossa..... He ran with me outside and we checked it out. Where I fucked up was popping the back lid to look at the engine. I saw 6 cylinders and said no big deal. My buddy told me the other six were on his side of the car :dumb:
So my boss found out I did this (restaurant manager across the street called and told him). I was almost fired on the spot.
In college, got an invite to an 80s party, host was giving rides in a 308.
Got my turn & the guys there convinced him to roll out the immaculate '57 Gullwing. Got a ride in that instead
Nice! I did some track laps in a 488 last summer via Xtreme Xperience. Would have preferred a 458, honestly. (Note: I also drove a Huracan 610-4 and a 997.2 GT3 RS, and the GT3 RS was the best of all three, but that’s for another thread.)
The M5 experienced a catastrophic engine failure this weekend while I was on a club drive. Just got the news that the engine will need to be replaced; looks like rod bearing failure as there is metal in the oil filter. A brand new engine is out of the question ($30k); exploring the options at the moment for a used one. All the shops I know of that do rebuilds are out of state. Most likely outcome at the moment is selling the car with a blown engine as scrap.

Oh sh*t...I'm so sorry to hear that, T.
I thought the M5 engines were very reliable...
Anyways, hopefully you can find a used one. Rooting for you, sir.
sorry to hear that sir tribe. i didn't realize rod bearings plagued your model too. can you try and find a used engine instead? i think i've seen them for under 10k.

Currently looking at both used and rebuilt. So far, this is the one I'm most positive about - https://www.rkautowerks.com/index.ph...stock-rebuild/. Comes with a 2-year warranty, rebuilt heads, and all the seals and stretch bolts replaced. Still looking, though.
That sucks, T. Any preceding hints that it was impending doom, or fine then boom?
Nothing. I was driving in a group headed up to Northern Arizona and I noticed I seemed to be down on power. I recently had a HP fuel pump replaced that gave similar symptoms and I started wondering if the one on the other bank was failing. However, I started to feel a vibration and hear a rattle. I shut off the stereo to hear better and realized it was no rattle, it was knock. I pulled over as fast as I could and shut the car off. It was still too late. Had the car towed 140 miles back to my shop of choice and when they opened up the oil filter there were metal shavings inside. The car also gave off a rod knock sensor error code when they scanned the car.

I just came to post about RK but didn't know if the timeline fit what you were looking for
Hope it all works out
I've been in contact with Mike at RK; they have stock rebuilt S63tu motors ready to ship right now. $18k up front, with up to $8k of that refundable depending on the amount of damage to my core. 2-year warranty.
Are their rebuilt motors all tuned up with everything refreshed? Would it be more worth it to drop $8k-$9k on a used motor and put in a few grand to fully refresh everything before putting it back into the car? You can then sell the broken motor for parts on top of that.

From their site:
Full engine disassembly and inspection
All components are cleaned to remove oil, sludge, carbon, etc
All rods & pistons inspected and clearances checked
Oil pump is disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt on every motor
All wear items replaced with BMW OE parts – Gaskets, seals, stretch bolts
Rebuilt cylinder heads with the latest revision of BMW OE valve seals installed
Micro polished crank
2 year/24,000 mi warranty on the internals. The warranty works like the factory BMW powertrain warranty. If your car is tuned, the warranty is void.

Pretty much. I just don't know if it's worth it, at this point. That being said, I'd have to go get another car. Having my 13 year-old 335i, with 180k miles and in need of a new transmission as my only car just isn't going to work.
I'll make you a great deal on a Malibu.
It's pretty much just like an M5, in that it has 4 doors, 4 wheels, and an engine.
Forget that it has half the cylinders, 2 fewer turbos & about 400 less HP, and probably about the same MPGs
