Maybe I'm going to get e-kicked for this, but...tuning an M5 is like saying you want to tune a Pagani. It's an M5. It's not underpowered. It's a god-sedan. What is there to mod?

Well, there are certainly people who do it and try to get 700hp to 1,100hp, but I'm not giving up the reliability at this point. Besides, these knuckleheads are forgetting my car already as the Competition Package which has a tune on it. Yeah, BMW says it's only 15 additional HP, but the magazines rated this car near 600hp. I really don't think I need more on this car.

Yeah, as fun as it is to mod, I really do not see the value in doing it for an M5. You're not driving some poser 320i.

It's a freaking M5. The benchmark god-saloon car...What is there to mod?

Only in a straight-line though, right? Or would a Tesla be even faster with upgraded wheels/tires?

(Probably go backwards in time in that Tesla.)

Everything is slower than a Tesla. Haven't you been paying attention in those threads you've been posting in? Sheesh, even an RLX with upgraded tires has to bow to the mighty Tesla.

Um... i dont know about that... we will need a new thread for SSFTSX and the Muskettes to show us who is faster...

AZ probably need to purchase a new server just for that thread because of the amount of useless pictures and youtube videos in that thread.
Soon AZ will overtake both Google and Youtube to be the biggest search engine for all pictures and Videos.

Well, the M5 got hit by an enormous Mercedes SUV while it was sitting in a parking lot. Turns out, that's a $3k headlight...

WTF?!?? That sucks.

I assume the SUV driver completely admitted to full-fault and will cover all repairs? Even with that, just such a hassle. Sorry, T.

Given the lot you were on, and with the aids the Mercedes would assume to have, WTF was the driver on? Clorox?

Indeed, your assessment and questions are dead on. I was standing there looking at the back of her SUV and I see the back-up sensors and reverse camera and I was just shaking my head.

Damn... Silver lining is you can have a new shiny pair.,,, But knowing how cheap insurance is, they will just replace 1 side I assume.

Dont wanna sound all sexist but you can have 2 people outside guiding a girl how to reverse along with sensors and cameras, they will still find a way to bump into something....

Ask how i know

She was just trying to help you not use your turn signals Seriously though sorry to see that. No idea how someone hits a car in a lot like that or a parked car period.

Might want to file a diminished value claim as well.

DV Claim: Not a Tesla, value approaching $0. Hit by giant Mercedes, value is now negative. Missing yoke wheel, can't even give the thing away

At $3k per headlight assembly, you can bet they're only paying for one.

Diminished value claims in Arizona are damn near impossible to get. There's no good legal precedent in the state and the carriers have no significant history of paying them.

I remember years ago, my grandmother had to replace a xenon headlight on her 2001 S430 & it was $1,800
Guessing the M5 is LED & some adaptive features = $$$

It's their adaptive LED. There are a number of moving parts in that thing. Not just a plug and play bulb behind a plastic lens, I'm afraid.

You are being generous...

$7k before labor.. so all said and done with tax... $9k maybe? for 1 headlight.

So if you damage both of your headlights after 5 years, you can literally total the car

https://www.reddit.com/r/Justrolledi...lacement_cost/

You dont feel so bad about the $3k now all of a sudden

Those weren't cars; they were surplus re-purposed Panzer tanks.

Well, the W123 took a rear end hit from a F150 towing a trailer at about a 35-40mph speed differential & you could still open the back doors without issue. So, very tank-like.
But, it was the absolute slowest car I've ever driven. I think the Aveos we had a Chevrolet when I was in college, were faster.

That said, I'd love to have that one back. For having 300k on it, it was in amazing shape. All the W123s I see nowadays are pretty ragged

Please post this in any of the threads created in the 2nd gen TLX section

Also, Sorry to see the mishap. Is it possible to source out a headlight from Ebay to cut the costs down? Thankfully it didn't take out the camera on the bumper, as those aren't cheap either.
