JNC uses a special UV baking product but still recommends doing the clear film over it.
I tend to think that if you can keep your oem UV protection intact, you're better off...once you start sanding/polishing, it'll look good, but it'll also be much more exposed and likely to yellow faster. I've done the crystal view...bullsh*t, it comes back, I've done the mineral spirits/spar urethane and although it does keep it clear, it had a yellowish tinge to it over time...probably not noticeable on a beige 1996 Grand Marquis like in the youtubes, but enough to annoy me with my anality and NBP.
In the end, I swapped headlights to my backup set in the attic that never saw the sun and have not had the yellowing at all since I started adding the bluemagic stuff to IT, the S2000 heads and EVEN my Wife's 2012 Cadillac SRX headlights. I figured, protect it before it even needs protecting and you'll likely never have an issue...same with the paint. Wax that biatch religiously every few months.
Spray on paper towel, apply to the plastic...let it bubble up and chemically bond while you do your tire shine or have a beer, then with a clean paper towel buff the excess off. You'll see that rainbowish hue from an angle.
I even do the tails just in case.
Sorry to go off topic, I love your BMW

yah sorry about hijacking your thread.
I have that thing. i don't like the greasy look after you apply but it does help you to get probably additional 1 month or 2 before they turn yellow again.

Haha, that said... the redone grilles and lip look much better! I'm going over the same dilemma - the cost of the genuine lip is ridiculous. I've seen some replicas in person that fit great. Some, not perfect. May look into that spray on clear bra stuff you mentioned.

BTW, I was at a business meeting over lunch today and a black Aston Martin Vantage Volante pulled up at the valet in front...I have no idea what was said in that meeting for a while.

LMAO,
it's not because I don't , man.
It's because I have no interest in enlightening myself about how much I lack in my current garage. Seriously, I have a close friend that keeps telling me to swap his 2013 911 with him for my S2000 or TL for a week (same guy that lent me the S5 when he went out of town) and I haven't pulled the trigger.
No strippers or girls with perfect bodies means your wife is perfection and all you need/want.
No 911 means my 2 decade old Hondas are perfect and everything I could ever desire.
I'm full of shit, but it's with purpose.

I had a expression and I distinctly recall hearing as her voice faded BACK into my consciousness, she said, "Hey...I'm RIGHT here. Did you hear a single word I just said for the last 3 minutes, jerk? You and your silly obsession with cars...I swear, if I took my shirt off, you wouldn't notice."
I responded with (which she still quotes me on at times): "Yeah, maybe?"

BUT, the other side of the coin is, you are blocking yourself from seeing what the industry benchmark/standard is.
I'm not being critical...just pointing out something, J.

Well Yum...I had a hard time getting to the point where I realized that happiness is perception. So I preserve my perception at all costs...if that makes sense. Want more while still being satisfied with what you have type of thing...
