Also, with ESS I'll have a tune that is customized to my car's existing software and how it interacts with my specific hardware. There are always minute variations, and this will better account for those. I'll still be able to swap the tunes with about a 20 minute turnaround just using my laptop and a cable.

I'm anticipating ~360HP and 400tq. I'll be doing pre-and post-dynos as well.
My younger cousin runs the JB4 and a bunch of other stuff on his 335. I think he was getting over 400whp. I like the idea that he can quickly remove it, but I agree with you that I don't like how it's fooling the ECU.

Yeah, there's not much question I can probably get a little more power, at a slightly lower price, from another tune. However, I don't think I can get a smoother, safer, better adapted to daily use, tune than the one I'm getting from ESS. I think I'll have plenty of additional power, be virtually worry-free, and still have an eminently drivable car.

i would have done the cobb bc their tune doesnt lock your vin which means when you go back to stock you can still sell the cobb where as you cant with the ess...good luck tho!

Piggys have been around a long long time and have come a long way with how they fool the ecu with increased boost. I run the Procede and am fbo with meth for about 30k miles and this is my daily driver. Not trying to change your mind, it's nice to have a custom tune for the car but the word "custom" is used very loosely in the tuning industry.

Good luck, once you tune the car its going to be hard to go back. I know your M was a money pit but keep an eye on your valve gasket, you'll notice oil near the boost solenoids, right above the turbos. This is about a $800+ dealer job and is becoming more prevalent, just did mine a few weeks ago. Also, get ready for a walnut blasting, I did a diy video so you can see what it entails.

Yeah, I'm not too concerned with being able to sell the tune later.

Thanks for posting up those vids. How many miles on the engine before you needed to deal with the valve gasket and walnut blasting?

I'd say around 50k, right when your warranty should be ending, if you're still lucky enough to have one.

Mine is CPO and I'm extending the service coverage for another 50k miles as well (to 100k).

I won't lie...if things go right, I may get rid of the FX and go sauerkraut in the next year or two.

5-Series, please.

Although, that new 4er.

Same here. May ditch my G, new 5er or S6 looks pretty scrumptious if we stick to our plan in the next few years.

Well, it's a lot easier with the turbo charged engines. When I had my M5, really the only significant gains required the addition of a supercharger. Since that upgrade costs ~$16k on an E60 M5, I immediately ruled that one out.

Here you go: http://www.esstuning.com/products/S8...er-System.html

Can push the 500HP V-10 over the 700 mark. It's pretty impressive.

Not just the shortcomings of the engine / trans.. but from install, tune, meth, tune.. all that goes into boosting a NA engine, especially such a fragile exotic like the S85.. it will become a money pit quick.
