Idk if I categorize it as a timeless design like an NSX/GT40 but there is just something about it that makes you want stare at it. Its just a special car

I always felt that it came out and looked so far ahead of it's time. But now, 30 years later and it doesn't look dated, still seems like a modern car. In another 30 years, I'm not sure it'll look like an "antique" yet. It just seems to be ageless.

Despite their reputation with the brutal brakes & the astronomical repair costs compared to something like a SL55, I have always loved the SLR.
I've only ever seen 1 in person, in SW Houston. Was working for a Honda dealer down there & a former tech (who was at the time one of the only SLR qualified techs in Houston) pulled up in a black one. Very low miles & the owner had hopped a curb in it, cracked a wheel & rotor (Front R IIRC).
MBUSA only sold the rotors in pairs (@$32k a pair). Since it was such a low mile car, they were able to get 1 rotor for something like $14k
The side-piped V8 plus that blower, makes for a pretty awesome note as he took off from the dealer.

Speaking of the SLR, have any of ya'll seen the Peterson Museum's youtube video on Manny Khoshbin's collection? This guy has literally, like 6-7 SLRs. 
They're cool, but damn, I'd hate to be writing checks to keep all of these maintained. I've read a few SLR owners on other forums talk about how expensive these are to get serviced.
