Or better yet what offer should the dealer accept if the sticker is 29k

I'd look for a NA one owner w/ high mileage... if you meet the owner, you should be able to tell if he's "responsible"...

There was a tsb for 2nd gear on early AP1's... 00-055... Most of probably addressed by now... Test drive would verify. Not sure if there's really any other issues...

One thing that immediately turns me off is if the car has a "system"... I'd never buy a car with a box in the trunk... just screams ricer to me

Even tho' it's never been titled, it's a used car... Demo... and who know's how it was treated during test drives...

You can get a new s2k for 29K (or less), so you should be able to get quite a discount on this one...

Recent buyers should be able to give you a more specific opinion...

Some crappy pictures of my wet S2000 today immediately after installation of new rims and tires. Will post better pictures when the sun is out.

These are Rota D2 in hyperblack, 18 X 8 +48 front and 18 X 9 +50 rear, with Sumitomo HTR ZIII tires, 225/40/18 in the front and 255/35/18 in the rear. No rubbing or anything. The stance is nice, looks aggressive.

Now I'm ready for Wake The Dragon in two weeks.

No springs for now. If I drop the car, the rears will rub with this setup because of the 255 width tires, I'd have to change to 245. Did lots of research prior to wheel/tire purchase. In addition, the handling is just fine as is.

What one will pay and what dealer will sell it for are very different things. S2k prices vary hugely depending on your location and the time of year. My brother and I both bought S2k's on the same day, both new 08's. We bought them in upstate NY during a snow storm, they threw in a complimentary blow-job with below invoice pricing and, in my case, a very generous trade-in value. That deal NEVER would have happened in a warmer climate, or during the summer. My brother got himself in somewhat of a pickle and was forced to sell his car last February, with snow on the ground, his car was mint, one owner, 4,200 miles on it, traded it in and got 22.5k, dealer sold it for $25.5k in less then a week. I am looking at getting involved with a smaller company that is seeing explosive growth, they want to see if I can take them to the "next level" and am seriously considering selling my car and getting something more practical. When I purchased my S2k I was planning on moving south(like NC south), I had some huge projects in the work and fell victim of the the tough economic times. I may take a short term hit in income by doing this and want to lower my cost of living, I bought the S2k right, it's the right time of season(at least up here) to sell/trade-in for a fair price and I have an uncle willing to match best trade in offer at any dealership in addition to covering the 8% tax incentive for the trade in - which will work out to be 24-25k depending on the day of the week you go into the dealership. My car just turned 10k miles and is also a one owner that is mint and driven by my sorry old man ass I was really depressed to see how well my tires are wearing, they show very little wear, I feel like such a pussy!

So to answer your question, what would I pay for a new never registered 08 S2k? Not much, 26k tops and there is no way a dealer is going to go for it. You'll get a similar deal on a 09 and that is the collector car to have, last year of production. Which is another reason I am not to pained by selling. First of all it's the right move for me in the long run and 08's, while maybe they will retain value moving forward, they will never be as collectable as 09's and in my humble opinion that makes them worth less money. I bought my 08, new, with 4 miles on it for $30,450 with a very generous trade, fwiw.

Their is no way you are going to rub with a small drop. Based on those pics, you can drop the car at least 2 inches up front and 2.5-three inches in the rear without rolling the fenders. Tire width and offsets of wheels? The stance looks REALLY high and takes away from the look of the car IMHO.

^^^
Actually, some others on S2KI with this setup did rub with a 1" drop with 255s in the rear and ended up requiring bumper tab moved and rolled fenders. Others didn't rub. It seems to be hit or miss, and those with Espelier springs seemed to have less likelihood of rubbing. I may eventually decide to do the drop, but I'd like to see how things are being otherwise stock first.

I do agree that this would look a little sicker with a drop, though.

I'd like to know your offsets, tire brand, profile, etc. There are alot of variables at play. Camber? It doesn't make sense based on the pics you showed and amount of clearance available.

I had an alignment at the same time the wheels and tires were installed and asked for the standard AP1 values. I'll have to look those up, they are listed on S2KI.

Might make it up there one of these years...
However, if you want a full day of pure fun, you should come to the NW Arkansas "Boston Moutain Tour" spring and fall of each year... You talk about fun and awesome scenery! Owners from La/Tx/AR/OK/MO come to it
Check out our pics from the last one.
http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php...&f=12&t=683170

Then the BMT from Fall 08
http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php...&f=12&t=683170
Pics start half way down the page.

There are a few AZ members that come out too... o2cls with his MX-5 GT, and ATXCLS (now "G") with his 01 Viper.

Just a thought

Great pictures of BMT, Chopsie. It looks like you guys had a great time. If I can convince the wife.....it was hard enough to convince her to come with me to the Dragon as she's not a car person. I sold it as time for ourselves and without the little guy, who's staying with Gramma and Grampa for three nights.

Went out to the dragon last weekend to beat the crowds and take advantage of reduced traffic. It was my first time and all i have to say is.... WOW. This was the most intense road i've ever driven on.. esp in the middle of the night staying at the top of 2nd gear

Here is a pic

You're lucky, it's sure to be crowded this weekend. Not only is a group of 197 S2000s and their +1s going to be at the lodge, another group of VW folken are going to be there. Just fine for this Dragon n00b, I don't want to go too fast, get from between the mustard and the mayo, and crash.

Even so, we've got a great group of local S2000 owners here in Cleveland, with whom I look forward to hanging out over the weekend.

Don't forget the Minis are going to be there this weekend too!

The dragon is very fun at a slow pace as well... the scenery is simply breathtaking. Also hit up the cherohala skyway if you get an opportunity

I helped my cousin get a new Accord today (his credit stinks) and while I was there I test drove an AP2 (only driven an AP1 before) and I liked it a lot. Definitely does have more low-end torque than the AP1 and while it doesn't scream as much it's still great fun.... to each his own. But alas I must pay off my car first.... eventually though I'll have an S2000 as a daily and probably another F-Body for a project car

A great time indeed. The BMT is likely much less traffic than the dragon, as the events are planned during off peak times of the year for tourists.

Hope you guys had fun at the Dragon. I saw some pics from the OK forum, lots of cars there

Hello all. i didn't want to whore up a new thread or post in the new toy thread so her it is. i finally got a MY02 new formula red S2k. I got rid of my TL back in september and got an Infiniti EX35. i thought i would be content but i was sadly mistaken. i missed something fun to drive. i decided i didn't want to get the s2k that already had work done to it because it had some issues that needed to be resolved and i didn't want something that was beat on. i really wanted to put my own touches to it, instead of getting a car with an ugly veilside body kit that i would have to get rid of. I found this car in Texas and flew down on Saturday and picked it up and drove it home. I had my wife with me so it was a lot of fun. The previous owner took extremely good care of this car and other than a few rock chips it was flawless and clean. it literally looked like it came off the showroom floor. he gave me a bunch of other stuff as well. OEM car cover, extra antenna, CR clear blinkers, helms service manual, extra oil filters, extra oil, cleaners for the ragtop, comptech drop in filter. i still need to take some better pictures, but here are some just to wet your whistle.

...and low mileage to boot! You are gonna have a lot of fun in that car. Good idea to tape it up to avoid road debris on the long trip home.
