About time! Can't wait to see them on.
What kind of mileage are you guys getting? I used to get 18 mpg in heavy city traffic with all tires set at psi. Got back from a 500 mile highway trip, tires set at 40 psi. 36 mpg. Double.
Sucks about the hit and run, Tyler. Humans suck. But hey, this could be an opportunity to get some aftermarket tails, like SuperTrooper had if that's your style.
Get the windshield fixed yet?

I was reversing and began going forward, he clipped my bumper / taillight and we exchanged information.
I'm hoping I can pocket some insurance money on this, I will be fixing it myself for about $75 (New taillight + touchup paint .. already have a buffer).
And yes, new windshield is on!
Plan on doing any mods to your Accord? Any thoughts HID / Retrofitted lights?

The reason for the awesome highway MPGs is the 6th gear ratio and the 7th Gen's amazing drag coefficient. Super slick design.

Also, relatively heavy car = poor city mileage

^ Low torque in Honda engines doesn't help either .
J-Pipe really made my car feel much more drive-able, couldn't believe the torque jump especially in midrange.

Isn't the 7th gen a relatively light car? I remember reading curb weight as something like 3050 or 3075 pounds.
Car isn't really a priority right now. I'm starting university in a few months, so I'm trying to put as much of my measly pay towards surviving.
I am spending plenty of money on the car though. Went to get some maintenance work done and decided to get a quote on new pads and rotors all around. $955. After that's done, I'll probably have to take care of my own scratch on the rear bumper.
Ooh, I got some free mods yesterday though. Mom took the car to church, where apparently some little kids thought it would be cool to scratch "Hell" into the hood. No joke. Had I been there, I would've had no regrets punching the kid square in the face. Still beyond fuming about that.
So... yeah. Chances are I'll drive it off a cliff and report it stolen than mod it the coming years.
Thank god it wasn't a hit and run (Should have been more specific).

I don't know who made it seem like the Accord is a heavy car. Most mid-sized cars are around 3,500lbs.
7th Gen Accord Coupe Curb Weight: 3265lbs

Compared to my 2300 lb Civic... hence the "relatively heavy"
I guess you could also say it's relatively light compared to a new 3700+ lb TL.
Just to illustrate my point that heavy car = not-so-great city mileage, I too can't get more than 23 city in the TL.... but try as I might I can't get less than 28 city with the Civic. Not that I really try to, but yeah.

That's totally apples and oranges. Mid-size car vs compact. Of course a compact is going to be lighter, but in the overall scheme of vehicles the Accord is far from heavy. Compared to my '87 and '88 CRX everything would be heavy but that's not a fair comparison. Just say'n.

At that point, I agreed with what you said (low drag coefficient, basically double overdrive with 6MT) and added that the lower than expected city MPGs were due to the weight of the car.
As a general rule a heavier car will get poorer city mileage, usually due to the requirement of a bigger engine to propel it. At a constant speed (highway), it's a different story though.... which explains why 430 bhp Corvettes can pull 30+ mpg highway and yet get mid-teens to low 20s for city
guess you missed my post

Car looks great!
Rear lip + 20mm wheel spacers would REALLY set it off.
Or a J-Pipe .. either way
I love a clean OEM look!

So our 08 accord OEM brakes suck ass, and I'm not talking about stopping distances. The life of them are extremely horrible. I dont know exactly when we changed the brakes, but we are about to change the rear brake pads. And before this we've already changed the front once and the rear once. So in 53,000 miles we have basically gone through two sets of rear pads. Thats ridiculous. Its my moms car and she is not driving it hard or anything.
Any alternative suggestions?? And keep the suggestions for daily driving, I dont want sport brakes that squeal when its cold and all.
Is there anything we can tell honda or see whats up with this?

Whats up with RDX owners?

Honda has been having an issue with the rear brakes on the Accord the past few generations. Im not sure why, but they burn out much quicker then the fronts.

how long should brake pads usually last for the rear(i know it depends with driving style and all)?? Something like 40-60k miles right?
And I always thought it should be front brakes that wear the fastest too.

Honda has an updated part number for the rear brakes. Something to do with a spring and how the pads were sitting against the rotors. The updated parts will prevent the premature brake wear. I just had mine replaced and got a check in the mail for $150 from Honda. Try that first since your not going to lose any $$ since Honda will reimburse you.
If that doesn't work. There are some other 8th gen Accord drivers using C-Max ceramic pads for the rear.
BTW, I realized I never introduced myself in this thread. I picked an 2009 Accord EX-L V6 with nav a couple months ago as my daily driver. Used to own an 03 CL S 6spd and a 06 G35 coupe. So far the car has been great. Nothing special about it but it gets me from point A to point B with no issues.
Here is what it looks like now. I put a set of coupe rims on there and will change out the rear sway bar to the TSX sway bar which is a bit thicker and improves the handling a bit.

Rockstar, that's indeed . Looks great!
Anyone ever change out the headlight bulbs? My passenger side low-beam went out a couple of weeks ago, and for the life of me I can't change it.
Which genius at Honda thought it would be a great idea to change a bulb by ripping out the fender liner?
