I need new shoes...

The OEM Bridgestone Turanza EL42s rears are pretty much toast, 3/32 left. Fronts are OK, about 6-7/32 on those. So I'm thinking I should just replace all four. BTW, I thought I read NOT to rotate tires on a BMW, even if it's a non-staggered setup. Or maybe I heard that from the stealership? Regardless, I didn't rotate.

Tirerack, of course has a 'shload' of various makes/types. They need to be all-season, fit the non-staggered 225/45/17 rims and run-flats. I'm not in the mood to swap out for winter rims, etc. Car performs just fine.

Noticed there is a new Pirelli, a best-seller at tireack for a reasonable amount of money; $174 per tire. Has a wear rating of 400.

Anyone have any other thoughts? I've heard good things about the Continentals, but they're about $100 more for the set, so...

Oh and, discount tire will match tirerack's price and they have a $40 mail in rebate, so I'd get the whole thing done, with tax for about $190 a tire. Not bad???

I have Continental Extreme Contact DWS...They are UHP All Seasons. I really like them a lot. Way better than the Bridgestone 960 Potenzas I had last. Way less money too.

Only negative is they don't take tire dressings well.

I use these as well, but only because they're one of the best all-season in the snow and I'm too lazy to swap out during the winter. Sidewall is little soft and not as great in corners.

Some people have said that, but I don't find that to be the case.

Like I said these are better than the RE960 Potenzas I had.

If you can get away with an all season, these are pretty good.

Got a deal on the M3 I've been looking at. Called BMW to see if there are any outstanding recalls on it and how the service records looked. Only a software recall and the service advisor told me it looks like it was maintained regularly. Inspection II was done at 59k so I'll have to do it again in less than 10k miles.

the husband of the woman that watches my boys works as a mechanic at a small independent shop that has a lot if BMW clients so I can probably get a good price from them.

Car still has to pass a PPI and test drive before I drive away with it on Friday!

I take it you want to stick with RFTs. RFTs are kinda doo doo and you should really have a summer and winter set of wheels/tires.

Yes. The 528i is still considered luxury sedan.....it handles great and the performance is good. And YES I am a kid.

The 328 for the MSRP you can get better cars. The base 328 does not even come with power seats. All it has is the badge. And for its class its slow. Not to mention everyone and their grandma has a 3 series. Honestly see 6 in my neighborhood. While driving I see more base 3 series then I see Toyota Camry. 335 however....is rare so is the 330. I am in no way against the 328....I almost bought a 328xi before buying my Acura TL last week. Luckily it was sold 15 min prior. Don't need two lame E90's :P.

Yes I also agree with the other poster....the 325 is also slow. If we could go back...we would have paid more for the 330. Personally I think when buying a 35k car.....power seats should be standard and so should leather.

I have had 328 as loaners so I know how they drive and feel. Slow and sluggish. We have a 325xi in the family also. Its the same as the 328....I think the 328 just had a bit more torque and about 10 more hp then the 325.

This is not what you said.

What you said was the 328s engine was garbage and yet you have the same engine in your car. That's why I am like the 328i is slow but a 528i is okay?

If you think the 328i is slow and sluggish then you must think your 528i is a pig!

The 528i is a bigger car....its a luxury car. I get the same feel from both cars but since the 328 is smaller and weighs less I would have expected a bit more power from it.

Like I said I have a 325xi and a 528i and have had 328i loaners for weeks at a time.

The 330i has the same engine as the 328i N52 I6 3.0 but it seems faster. Of course you have the option of spending $1k and doing the mainfold stage mod on the 328 to basically convert it into a 330...but still.

The 328 engine is not garbage the N52 I6 is a great engine and one of the last I6 non turbo engines. Apologies if someone misunderstood me.

I enjoyed my 08 328i when i had it. I still thought it was one of the best in the segment. Not the fastest but still felt connected to it compared to the others. G37 came close though.

Loved the N52 engine. Really sad that they getting rid of it in favor of a turbo4.

Really don't care to have to store a winter set of tires/wheels.

Don't track the car, nor will I ever... Drive it to and from work. Rather spend the money on whores.

Got another opinion on the rears... Got about 4/32 left. Probably wait until summer, but will still need some new shoes.

I'd actually take a 328 over a 335, as I like a naturally aspirated engine mated to an outstanding manual transmission. Too bad the NA inline-six will soon be gone, but it'll probably appease people who just want the automatics and complain about the sluggishness of non-turbo engines.

Inspection done! Car needs a few things done but overall in excellent condition!

Biggest areas of concern were a very slow seep in the low pressure power steering hose, oil will need changed in about 2300 miles, brake fluid needs flushed, and rotors have about 30% life left to them.

I used the same shop as the last M3 I had an inspection done on so this was a nice comparison.

I forgot all about that until you brought it up. I called and asked that shop, he said they checked for that and everything looked fine.

Sorry guys, no pics yet. Drove all day yesterday, then packing for vacation and some joy rides today so I didn't get time to take some pictures. I'll see if I can upload one.

So, um, what kind of tires are those? (Couldn't resist).
It looks awesome, though.

Now you'll just have to figure out how to deal with all the awesomeness. Well, that and kids pulling up next to you in compacts with muffler mods and revving their engines.
