That's pretty rare to find one that age that clean at a dealer lot. No plate holes or curb rash on the wheels is usually a good sign it had a conscientious previous owner.

I'm not that lucky. There's a few very small spots of curb rash but right now I'm not too worried about it. Maybe if I run into some spare money in the future I'll send the wheels in to get fixed or just get some different ones.

Got a stick shift 335i loaner today. Too bad it's a xDrive with no sport package. And I can't figure out how to get it into reverse. I'm gonna be stuck at the work til I can figure it out.

Should just put it over like your going into first but push harder to the left then up.

Pull it hard to the left and then up, it should shift to R. I was confused the first time too.

Wait. They gave you a manual loaner? And it sounds like you don't own a manual BMW (or you'd know how to find reverse)...

I've never heard of getting a manual loaner before, especially if the owner doesn't own an MT.

Odd, no?

Yes, they gave me a manual loaner. They had only 2 loaners when I got there and asked if I wanted a manual. I've never driven a manual BMW before, but I've owned a S2000 and RSX for 8 years combined so I know how to drive one pretty well. The throws are really long compared to the S2000. It felt like I was driving a truck.

Nothing beats that Honda/Acura gear box. Click click click.
Miss my 6MT TL, kinda.

I can't believe some dude over in e90post actually commented that the Honda shifter is too light, too assisted, and the BMW shifter is better. What?!?!

He must be an idiot. I got DCT specifically because I was spoiled with the Acura manual gearbox. The 6MT on the M3 felt terrible to me and I'm much happier with DCT.

I learned how to drive a manual trans on an S2000, just a few weeks before I got my first 335. Definitely preferred the Honda gearbox. The BMW is not bad though...

Without a doubt the M3 gearbox feels terrible compared to Honda/Acura. I've had plenty of wtf moments with mine so far.

Guys, I don't know how many former E36 owners there are here but I'm in a quandary ...

I'm trying to mount a Borla exhaust on my car and I'm missing some parts ...

The red arrow shows what I'm talking about in the picture below. The rubber mount has a hole in it that runs parallel to the ground. On OEM exhausts there's a pin in the mounting strap that goes into that hole to hold on the exhaust. That strap is welded to the OEM exhaust.

On the Borla there's a totally different type of strapping and it appears that there's a mounting bracket with the aforementioned pin at the top and a way to attach the muffler at the bottom with a bolt and nut.

Well that's not OEM and Borla cannot figure out where the hell that came from ...

Anyone have any ideas?

So naturally there's a muffler installation kit that is sold aftermarket that I needed that Borla had no clue about.

I called them back and said it would probably be a good idea to either sell it with the muffler or at least recommend they buy one in the website listing

So for the past month I've been expecting to replace my Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's soon with something considering the dealer told me they are pretty worn. I went out today and measured the tread depth and have about 7/32"-8/32" all the way around. Didn't know they come from the factory with 9/32 of tread on them.

Yay, the car is done. Cost me $700 in labor because of some shit that quite frankly the mechanic that looked at it should have picked up. Some pretty simple shit which makes me believe he never actually drove the car.

Have new trailing arm bushings and four new O2 sensors. Doing the Rogue Shock Mount upgrade when they come and need to do a few more simple things myself.

But the car has plates and I'm good to go. Be nice to drive it considering I bought the damn thing on April 15th.

Going to be a busy winter with a bunch of projects on the car ... OBC needs new bulbs, the cluster needs new bulbs, the steering column needs new bearings, new shocks all around, a new radiator, new inside door pulls, and new control arm bushings (going to drop the rear subframe I think) ... Not a lot of rust under the car so I'm hoping that I can get away without having welding done for a while. We'll see.

The entire front suspension was replaced and the car has all new cooling system components except the radiator (which is odd).

Just ticked over 130k today ... It's not going out in the winter so I figure with everything I'm doing I should be able to keep it for a while.

Really the only upgrade I'm thinking about is the seats. I think the current driver seat cushions are worn out ...

The interior is beige ... So the dash board is black and tan ... What does everyone thing about black seats, tan carpet, black headliner, black door cards with a tan inside accent?

It could look good or a complete mess. Finding Desert Sand leather seats is going to be pretty tough I think (I've got pleather right now).

I think that interior combination needs to be done in photoshop to see what it would look like. I'm thinking it probably won't be bad at all, but would try it out just in case.

What's wrong with that? I have two kids (9 mo. and 2 1/2), both in car seats, and bought a M3. I had a perfectly fine family car (2011 Sonata) that was floaty as hell at highway speeds and didn't handle worth a damn, but was super easy to get the kids in/out of that I traded in for my M3.

My kids car seats are just about always in my wife's car. We'll typically load the kids up in the M3 (which is not that difficult) and go for a drive on occasion. I don't drive like an ass with my kids in my car and feel a lot safer in it than I did in my Sonata.

Hey thanks that's a really good idea. I didn't think of going with aftermarket but I might be able to find some Recaros that look close enough to the OEM Vaders to work.

I think I've got about one more season left with these driver's seat.

I agree, I see nothing wrong with a coupe, especially with only one kid. I have twin girls just turned 1 year old, and they ride in my E92 every weekday when I take them to the babysitter.

Has there been any claim of the new hpfp/injector recall fixing the problem or are they still popping at a "high percentage"? Or is it just too early to tell.

So far I haven't heard of the new #461 pumps failing. When I got my original pump replaced, they gave me new software and injectors as well. It pulled like a beast after that.

They are Recaro Sportline seats. You have to custom order them. Price comes out to be around 1000-1800 a seat depending on what materials you get them in.

You sure they are fabric? They look to be that auto type suede that I can't remember the name of right now

Alcantara is just synthetic suede ... Polyester and polyurethane. I guess technically it's not fabric but whatever
