I passed a pristine looking Space Gray Z4M coupe the other day in my relatively sleeper/dorky looking 135i and thought to myself, if there's anything worse than the "jerk in a BMW" stigma, it would have to the the "jerk in a long-nosed BMW sports car"...the double whammy if you will.

Nice car though.

Well I was going to go pick up a E46 M3 up in North Carolina this weekend but the dealership I was working with ended up fucking me over.

I've been in contact with them for the past week and a half via phone and email. Talked to them yesterday and I'll come pick it up this weekend if we can get to the right amount. Sales guy tells me he'll get on it and call you back in about 30 minutes. Nothing all day! So I call this morning to see if I'm making a trip up there this weekend and he basically tells me someone called in a put a deposit on it and is coming to look at it today. Thanks for the fucking phone call asshole!!!! He said he would email me if the guy doesn't end up buying it, so I told him to sell it to someone else.

Anyone else feel that is pretty fucked up or is it just me??? I thought at least a phone call saying someone was going to put a deposit on it and ask if I still want it would have been good.

Money talks. If you wanted it, you should've put a deposit on it before he did. And how would the sales guy know for sure he was going put a deposit on it before he actually did?

You have a point, and yeah I should have, but a phone call at minimum would have been nice.

A BMW spokesperson has now confirmed to Road & Track that the M3 Pickup spotted in Germany is simply a one-off test mule. "BMW M did indeed create the pickup seen on the 'Ring, but it was just an internal project, not something that is in development," said Dave Buchko, BMW Advanced Powertrain & Heritage Communications Manager. "There are no plans to produce it."

M-Sport for life! lol...getting lightly rear-ended was the "best thing" that could have happened to my car. i don't think i would have spent my own money on an OEM m-sport bumper.

i started debadging the car and i kind of liked the way it looked without the i. i'm still on the fence on weather to pull it all of or leave it.

Making a 6 hour trip up to Marietta, GA Saturday to possibly buy a E46 M3. Going to call the seller and see if they can take it to the local BMW dealership for a PPI inspection.

Nice ... I'm looking at E36 M3s myself. People still want serious money for them ... There isn't a website that even comes close to valuing those correctly.

The seatbelt chime is KILLING me...

It should turn off when the car is in park. It does not.

I get to where I am going and am still on a call, I have to sit there with my damn seatbelt on for ten minutes parked in my spot or the freaking chime goes off.

There's a 2002 M3 with SMG in Florida for $20,900 with 23k on the odometer.
I'd probably buy it if I didn't have to trade in my current car. Don't really like my current car at all.

Edit: Just noticed you said E36. My sister has one they are getting rid of but don't know the condition or price.

I realized that the real problem is that I remove my seatbelt as I enter the garage. If I WAIT until I put the car in park to remove the seatbelt, no chime.

Unfortunately, removing it as I approach a parking location (and not putting it on until I am moving or out of the garage/lot) are old habits I have no intention of changing. :sigh:

Well, looks like I'm not getting a M3 this weekend. PPI inspection showed a lot wrong with the car and even repair work from an accident that wasn't on carfax. $135 well spent! Going to continue my search.

We were going to make the trip this morning, but the shop I had do the inspection faxed me the results yesterday evening. The car was being sold at an independent dealer and he did sound a but shocked, but some of the things they found should have been brought up in my many conversations with them.

On that list was the key fob didn't work, no tps sensors in the wheels, crooked steering wheel, no rocker pads, and the list goes on. They did say that the engine and transmission were good.

I know some of the issues on that car were trivial, but it was enough to shy me away from it. That was from reading the first and only page of the inspection report that came through on the fax. Didn't notice until last night that at the top of the page in really small text it says "Page 1 of 6". I'll have to go check the paper level on the fax today and get the rest of the report.

Found another M3 that I'm going to call about today. It's one year newer and is the exact color exterior and interior that I am looking for and it is a manual vs. SMG.

Page 1 of 6? Should be interesting reading. Since you're probably confused by the last couple of statements, I started a thread about tires after driving a couple of hours to look at a car, so the jab was at me. That's all.

It's across the country and have no idea if it's even for sale still, but this one caught my eye:

It's one of those rare ones: A 6mt coupe that's actually priced to sell. The only "miss" I can see is that it's got the 18's instead of the forged 19's. I'd seriously consider scooping this thing up if I didn't already have the 135i. Haven't checked the VIN though but I'd assume given the mileage and price that it's a clean title car.

There's no guarantee collision repair will show up on Carfax. Insurance companies can sometimes search for accident reports filed with the state though. That one sounds like it's fallen into neglect though.

So offended that I shook all the grime out of my key fobs. No, not really. Actually I thought it was funny, although probably not the level of going through a 6-page report on the M3 you almost bought funny. OK, maybe too soon. I just thought SaaBaaDoo could use an explanation.

Not offended at all guys! Looked through the rest of the report. Front rotors were warped, oil leaking around vanos and oil pan, ac condenser damaged from front impact. They put a note in there that they guessed it was poorly maintained.

Thanks for the link on that M3 in Portland. I would definitely consider it if it wasn't across the country from me.
