the 3 series no has an eco button

but with gas skyrocketing I guess thats not a bad thing.

And I just saw that it has the feature where you can open the truck with your foot, thought that was coo. That was first seen in one of the ford mini van thing that was suppose to come here and didnt. Cmax or something like that.

interesting, this has a brake energy recovery system too. Didnt know that either. Guess the battery will last longer then.

and mine came out to 47.5k... damn thats a lot

and i built a 335i as well and that came out to 49.5k although I'd be missing the keyless entry, garage door opener and auto dimming mirrors.

If I had two get one of the two I'd spend the extra 2k for that 335i. I get a ltl less convenience but its ok.

A buddy and I went to check out the new 3. This car is absolutely stunning in person. As is the price. $50K for this silver 328i in the Modern line.

Sat in it and the fit and finish of everything really is what you'd expect- excellent.

I love German cars and am used to their pricing but that's just too expensive.

I really dislike how much stuff you have to option on to a BMW and the amount that they're charging for some of the add-ons. It's a bit ridiculous.

Looking at new cars, it really is turning me away lately. Next thing you know you've added $15k in options...

Agreed. When I purchased my TL new in '06, one of the things that attracted me to Acura was the fact that there were very few options that I'd need to get the car where I really wanted it.

Five years later, when I got the "itch" (read - mid-life crisis) for something with more power, it became very clear to me that there is a lot to be said for buying a young used car. Honestly, I really don't know if I'll buy brand new again.

1 - Source?

2 - Why even buy a 328 now, except to save a few bucks?

That really sucks to see. The BMW USA website even now shows the 328i getting only 33MPG highway also.

From what I can tell, it has cold weather, sport, most likely Logic 7 cuz it looks like it has a center speaker above the nav dash. And since it's a BMW dealer, you can ask them to give you a full list of factory options and service history on the car.

here is the build sheet. looks like a no go. it has everything but, what a bummer. im trying to decide if that is a deal breaker or not. on bimmerfest i found this....

See: E9X audio systems defined.

Base/Stereo: 4 Mids + 2 underseats, no amp
HiFi (Option 676): 4 mids, 2 underseats, 2 or 4 tweeters, analog amp<--EASIEST TO UPGRADE
Top Hifi/Logic 7 (Option 677)/Harman Kardon (Option 688): ~13 speakers, plus digital amp
Enhanced Premium Sound / Individual Audio (Option 752) (Brochure): ~16 speakers, digital amp

so it is upgraded from base and seems to be the easiest audio system to upgrade. im guessing that shouldnt be a deal break for me then. thoughts?

If I liked the car, thought it was the right price, and it had everything in it, except the sound system, I wanted I would get the car. The sounds system in a car can easily be upgraded in stages, and can really be custom tuned for your tastes. A factory sound system is not a deal breaker...to me.

We are trying to work a deal out. After seeing that it is at least upgraded from the base system I'm happy. And with an analog amp it will be easy to upgrade. Everything else is exactly what I was looking for and with how picky I am, that's amazing on its own merit.

The TL was easy, get a type s and you get everything just pick your trans. Get a 335 and you've got options and packages all over the place

Having owned an M3 (with premium sound), an M3 (without premium sound), a 335i (with Logic 7), and now a 328 (with hifi), I don't think it should be a deal breaker. If you are buying this car, you can easily upgrade the system on the cheap and get better sound than Logic 7 or Enhanced Premium sound. I think the Highs and the Mids are pretty good on the Hifi, could use a little more bass, but its not that bad. I would say go for that car and upgrade the audio if you don't like the sound output. Depends on what type of music you listen to as well.

If the car has everything that I wanted except for the sound system, I would get it in a heartbeat.

But I personally don't really listen to music when I drive, so it's a completely different case for me.

Just went to the local BMW dealer to finally check out the new 3-series.

The interior is and the exterior is compare to the previous version.

The 328i was really.. $50k. I didn't understand why it has gotten so much more expensive.

The dealer didn't have any 335i yet.

The conclusion: I want a 1 year old used M3. Wife didn't really say, NO.
