MOAR PICS!

I'm planning to do a little photoshoot of my car next weekend. I'll definitely post them here.

on the rsb install!
Don't get me wrong, I can easily average 26-30 on the hwy. It's just very hard to get a decent mileage out of 90% local driving in traffic.

Ordered the Cobb AP today! And I got it for $525 because this member at msf bought it 3 weeks ago and wanted to sell it asap.. It was just a too good deal for me to pass.. I'm so excited!

Anyway, now my mission is to find an upgraded fuel pump..

This is the one that MS3 guys mostly use, but it's almost always out of stock. They are getting some new ones in the beginning of May...
http://www.autotech.com/product/fuel....html?fromcat=

I guess some members go to vwvortex(?) forum to find some slightly used ones.. is anyone here a long time member of vwvortex forum? I'll love it if someone can help me out finding one over there!

And it'll be great if any of mods can delete "at 1600 miles so far" and just add UPDATE or something. Thank you mods!

So what will the upgraded fuel pump and AccessPort get you?

I was 275/287 on my Gen 1 with MS CAI/CBE and nothing else. Way too much power to handle in the curves but it was quick when you got on the turbo for sure.

"The pump itself is actually a little better than the gen 1, but the new ECU stresses it more when the boost is increased. Basically, if the FRP drops below 1600psi, the ECU increases IPW (injector pulse width) to too high of a degree for the stock CDFP to keep pressure."

Cobb has been saying multiple times that if we want to go beyond any conservative stage1 maps, we must have an upgraded fuel pump. Cobb doesn't even sell fuel pumps.

So, by upgrading the internal of my fuel pump, I'm basically unleashing 30-40 hp or a lot more with other couple mods (TMIC or FMIC, DP) by being able to run much aggressive maps with higher boost targets under stable condition.

Do you remember which dyno you used for your ms3? That seems pretty high for the said mods. It's definitely achievable. However, all of our vendors (Cobb, CP-E, Corksport) have been using mustang dynos for some reason, so the performance figures look pretty heartbreaking.

But regardless the gen2 ms3s have been getting awesome results ever since CP-E standback and Cobb Accessport have been released! Stage2 guys have been easily getting 30-35% power increase and some members have broken high 12's with 109-110 trap at the drag strips already.

Throwdown! Can you get a hold of autotech fuel pump internal!?

I would gladly purchase it off from AZine vendor. I've been here too long :p

I'll say this, even if the final numbers were high I do know that I was +25/+32 before after on the same dyno within a week. I left the car there while I was out of town for work for three weeks. They dyno'd it, swapped the parts, and then dyno'd it again.

I don't recall what kind it was but the gains seemed legitimate. Since the Gen2 is rated pretty much the same as mine was, I would think you'd see the same gains.

Agreed on all points.

I probably have similar gain with intake and racepipe.

I actually love the fact that i can really feel the difference with every mod that i put on!

I posted the second one cause it was cheaper.

I tried looking on the forums but nothing, I saw a bunch of posts from a year or 2 ago.

Yeah, I didn't notice til I checked them out again. I guess some stores have a little bit better pricing.

Thank you for looking around for me though! I guess I'll just have to wait for them to get the new ones ready!

Couple things to update with the AP..

The biggest improvement with the AP is......... my car's fuel economy.......

I'm now averaging literally 24-25 mpg with so many WOT runs mostly city mileage. Before the AP, I was getting like 18 mpg. So it's almost 70-80 more miles per tank. It's amazing how much this map reflash can change your car.

I was running stage1+ map for 3 days and did a lot of datalogging with it. The stock MS3's maximum boost is 15 lb and the turbo faceplants after 5500 rpm. However, with the stage1+ map established, I was hitting 17.5-18 lb all the way to the redline at 6700 rpm. It's just so much faster, and the power delivery is so smooth now.

But after getting a lot of advice from experts with data logs, as I had expected and Cobb had told all Gen2 MS3, my stock fuel pump just can't keep up with the increased air flow caused by my intake and racepipe. The stock fuel pump is just POS. So, I'm waiting for Autotech fuel pump internal now. It's going to be back in stock on April 30th.. I'm planning to pick it up and install it right away!

My racepipe is pushing me into the stage2 territory according to Cobb, so with that fuel pump internal, I'll able to run the stage2 maps in stable manner!

Plus, I just got the AccessTuner Race from Cobb.

2011 is going to be a fun fun fun year for me..

My next mod will be FMIC.

Was bored at lunch time today.. nothing special

Planning to do a photoshoot this weekend in the desert area nearby LA..

I've been having so much fun with my AP and ATR.. There's just so much more power to be had with further adjustment on timing and fueling.

Can't wait to get the hpfp and FMIC this summer..! My goal is to get 300 whp with my mods + stage2 tune this summer. Then, I'll be done with the power mods for it. I'm already very satisfied with the power that it's putting down, but there's always something about 300whp.

There are a lot of parts for 6s, research them thoroughly through Mazda forums and choose. Good luck and let me know if you need any help. I'm regular on mazdaspeedforums.org.

There was a guy with a MS3 (Tune, CAI and FMIC) at my school. We dynoed it against another MS3 (CAI). Both last generations.

The MS3 with the stock intercooler would suffer from heatsoak, we would see a drop in HP each dyno where as the MS3 with the FMIC would be making the same power all day.

I think they both were making around 240whp. Can't remember.

Correct, our stock TMIC is one of the biggest bottlenecks of MS3. It just is not efficient in cooling at all.. Our BAT's (Boost Air Temperature) gets shot up with couple WOT runs, which prevent us from running more aggressive tunes. So, swapping out the intercooler with bigger ones not only give us more hp, but also allow us to run much aggressive tunes in much safe and consistent manner.

If the stock TMIC is pushing 18psi, I'm probably only getting 15psi of boost.
With an upgraded TMIC or FMIC, if the IC is pushing 18psi, my car is probably getting 17 or 17.5psi.

There's also a "IC Dyno Book" over at msf.org that has all of aftermarket intercooler testing reviews with dynos, data logs, and tune sheets that prove that the upgraded intercooler on modded mazdaspeed3 is a must.

I think I'm going to get the CXRacing FMIC which is like $580 shipped, it's good for anything below 350whp. There's couple more FMIC choices for Gen2 MS3s, but they are much more expensive since it can handle power up to 400whp on mustang dynos, which I'm not planning to get to. lol

Yeah.. it's all sold out everywhere..

Autotech hpfp internal is universal for most of 2.0T applications like VW GTI, A4 and shit....... it's so hard to find...

I contacted Autotech directly, and they just said the ETA for next batch is the end of this month.. so hopefully I can snag one..

My parents just picked up a cx-9 from a dealer they had a connection working at. I was SO close to getting out of my Altima lease and into an MS3... but the numbers were just a bit too high for me. i love checking this thread out every so often youre making tremendous progress... FWIW its still the only wagon i have ever found good looking.

Thanks! I know it's already been a year and half!

The car looks pretty much the same from outside, but it's so different now when you drive it.

they use mustangs because of their load bearing capabilities. it allows the turbo to spool better than a dynojet from what ive read. most turbo cars make more power on the road than a dyno because of the load

Trust me. It worths every penny and more. You can tune your car in any way you want.

And every mod you add, you get more out of it.

Also it increases your fuel econ by roughly 15-20%. So it pays off itself.

Missed this post.

I don't think the turbo spools better. But I should say it's more accurate since when we try to play with the tune settings, load always comes into play. I heard this is why the pro-tuners always use load bearing dynos.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't want to preach the wrong info to people.
