Do you rev match your downshifts, or just shift down and let the clutch take up the engine speed difference?
I'm a whore for rev matching. It's 98% of the reason I drive a manual. I use the engine to always brake the car.
I also go through every gear when slowing down. I don't skip a gear going up or down, even if coming to a complete stop. I absolutely love it, each and every time.

My brakes are squeaky as all hell, that's why I downshift as much as I can.
:ricer: If you had an exhaust, i know exactly who you are....
You downshift from 2nd to 1st coming to a stop?
I mean we all do that, but the entire sequence of downshifting? If i was in 6th, i would down shift to 5th and 4th then to neutral once it gets very slow. I never do the entire sequence

I usually downshift to 3rd, then neutral. Will go down to 2nd if I'm making a turn. 1st if making a quick u-turn, which is the only time I double clutch. I do it if I'm skipping more than 2 gears (tfw no torque) but that rarely happens. You feel like a badass when you're slowing to about 15-20, then double clutch, rev match downshift into 1st
I don't feel like my weird neutral habit is necessary, but for downshifting, rev-matching is a must! I even try to teach my friends.

Yeah, under low speed shifts I don't either. You'd be blipping the throttle like 200rpm

I generally try to mix it up, If I'm feeling a bit more spirited I'll downshift and revmatch for fun
Generally speaking, I don't downshift through each gear on every stop as it increases wear / lifespan on the slave cylinder, throwout bearing, pressure plate, clutch disk, flywheel, and synchros.

It happened all the time with the s2000
So you dont down shift... you just stay in 2nd or even 3rd... and it will go
Team Owner
No, I downshift, but I don’t rev match at low speeds. There’s no need to with the dual mass flywheel in the TL. Blipping the throttle 200rpm would be kind of pointless.

Yeah, I rev match almost all downshifts. Only time I don't is if I'm driving around a residential really late at night. I try to be courteous, like not blasting my music with the windows down cause most people probably don't share my taste in music!

I dont think i have ever in my life rev matched to 1st gear.. just the thought of it feels weird haha.
I like the feeling from 4th to 3rd to 2nd heal toe before exiting a curved freeway off ramp tho.

Look at the beauty of manual transmission though - you can shift it however the damn hell you want.........

I remember once, i drove my friend's car and i had no idea what gear i was in because they all felt the same in the gear

I bought 2015 CPO CR-V , replaced my 06 Accord.
The insurance had gone down $2 for 6 months... dont understand the rationale behind that, but i aint complainin.

Was your Accord V6? I think it's just because Hondas in general are stolen a lot
Team Owner
Hell Nah.... dont buy V6 when you can get 4 cylinders. LX LuXury too!

Congrats on the CR-V! That's a good deal on the insurance. When we replaced the wife's '07 Civic Coupe with a '18 CR-V AWD Touring the same coverage went up about $5 a month. Not bad overall. And I love the car.

The Accord was getting weird "issues" at 130k.. I was too lazy to deal with them so i decided to do the right thing - fixing it by replacing it
But yah... tires were bald, brake was either 0% or 100% with nothing in between, so it felt kinda scary. and most annoying part was the steering shook violently during the initial acceleration. I kinda have an idea what the issue is, but again dont wanna deal with it.
The CR-V is good for what it is. Got it for $17k with 32k miles with Honda's CPO coverage.
I know it is apple and orange but jumping from my 340 with HK sound system to the CRV 4 speaker (or however many speakers it has) feels like travel back time to the early 2000s Note, the CR-V is LuXury trim too.

Is the CR-V your new daily or something? Or the gf's car?

I bought it... mainly as my 2nd car but my dad uses it when he needs it. We live so close that he can literally just walk over and drive it u know....
But my DD is the 340. Weekend car is CR-V. Need the space for Costco and Ikea.

Coincidentally my 2nd car is an HR-V. It drives nice and has good features for its price but has no balls. Does the CR-V have better pickup?

I guess like the HR-V, the CR-V is also underpowered.

2015 uses the same 2.4 with 180hp... but in reality it feels like the 140 hp B18 in the Civic...
but people buy CR-V for reliability and resale values.... you will be disappointed if your expectation is anything more than that.
Can't comment on the new 1.5t, but it has its issues. so whatever performance gain is not relevant if it is not working as intended.

Oh and with ~1500 miles it's averaging 27 MPG and still climbing, all while 95% in city driving.

Alright slightly off topic...but I assume modern TPMS are very accurate? Currently in a rental car and TPMS is reading a bit low PSI (28) on a tire but then when I used a manual gauge it shows over 50 PSI! (wtf) Granted it's one of those cheapo stick gauge but I assume its better to trust the TPMS than a cheapo tire gauge?

I'd trust the tpms over that stick gauge. I've always found those to be terribly inaccurate and wildly varying in reading from one test to another

But it's a rental, so a moot point anyway. Hoon away.
Or check the stick gauge against the tpms reading on each wheel. See if it's consistently off. Then, given the family of datas, you could see if one really has a problem.
Or just DGAF, because rental.

Dial gauge is best
TPMS can be inaccurate until you start moving

The airport location manager knows me and got me into a 2018 Lincoln Navigator L, very nice ride/interior, but just the tires a tad bit low. 1 of the tire valve stem keeps bleeding air no matter how hard I try to seat the air pump chuck onto it...so gonna have to take it to get it looked at......
I usually change out of my rental car every 2-4 weeks after I get bored of the last one. Probably gonna stay in this one for a while. I just got out of a Escalade (meh) and that thing needs some big time updates....Ford/Lincoln really stepping up their game in the luxury market I feel like...
Yeah, I have a quality dial gauge back home in KC but didn't want to spend anything too expensive. Might stop by costco or a local tire shop to look at a valve stem that may be loose/leaking....

If it was really 50psi, the car would be hard AF and you will feel it in your butt.

Found an actual tire/repair shop with a really nice air pump with a digital module where you just select what PSI and it automatically checks pumps that PSI into the tire. Worked like a charm and yeah the TPMS is more accurate than $1 autozone pressure gauges. The air chuck is damn good quality too.
For how ghetto lot of hawaii is....this was a very surprising find...and free as well, just serve yourself.

Do you guys have America's tires on the island? if you do, they do free check and air for you. You dont even have to get out of your car. and they fix flat for free. No purchase necessary.
I believe Costco offers similar service, but the wait is much longer and you have to be a Costco member obviously.

Don't think so...lot of the brand name franchise stores on the mainland are not seen here in hawaii for obvious reasons. (no major bank chains, no chipotle) Lot of local name shops. We do have costco, as you said. I did some research and some local tire shops/repair shops are pretty nice and will do simple air check/tire fill up for free or even simple flat fixes.
I think with my car since it was a rental no one ever bothered to check it when it was put in service....PSI was at like 31 when it's supposed to be at 39.
Nice to be able to swap out to diff rental cars once I get bored with one....but downside is the tourist renters make the interiors into shit...sand in all the crevices and you can see the leather stained pale while in certain spots (I'm guessing from sunscreen)
