General Car Talk Discussion Thread
I have ZERO interests in Golf and Focus. Golf is too boring and mundane. Focus is just.. Focus. I worked on a lot of Focus and its interior is one of the worsts. The driving position is way, way too high.
If/when I get the CTR, the firfi thing I would do is to wrap the fake CF and red pinstripes. Those are trash. And would reupholster the steering wheel. The red bottom is trash.
But all the issues with CTR has got me thinking. Much better to wait out and see how Honda addresses the transmission and other minor issues in a year or two.
it is much much safer to go with a BRZ if Im planning to track drive the car but not sure how that will go with two young kids!

230 M sport 6mt. Unless of course you wanna go M2...
It's a nice GT daily. But I want something that I can track sometimes without worrying about things blowing up!
And I just said it as a response to 2 series comment. Never said I would do it.
My dream set up would be EL Header+Delicious Tuning E85 Flex Fuel+Jackson Racing Oil Cooler+Suspension work.
NA FTW

It's not to me? I've tracked my BRZ more than a dozen time so I know how it drives at the limit. Not to mention the decently modified BRZ can be very, very fast. The excellent balance of the car is extremely helpful in learning how to drive a RWD car.
Golf always has been boring and mundane to me. Pretty similar sentiment to my Avant. I've driven modded GTi and Golf R in the canyon, the driving position and the power delivery is just a very nice and fast GT car to me. Same for FoST and FoRS. I have zero interests in how the car drives for daily driving, so most of the pros of these cars don't attract me at all.
There's a reason why the hot hatches have virtually zero presence at the local tracks. They can be seen a lot at the drag strips doing quarter mile runs though! Super fast cars.
FRS/BRZ is the worst car to judge based on a quick test drive. It's literally the shittest feeling haha

My judgement of the BRZ is the same, just a couple short test drives. I got out of the car with a "meh" feeling every time. The S2000 is a lot more engaging and fun to drive overall than the BRZ...why not get one of those?
Well if you want a track car then that's a different story but a stock for stock comparison as a daily driver, the Golf and Focus and Civic are all FAR better than a BRZ. Also a decently modified anything can be very very fast...

Your judgement will never change with a couple short test drives so I have nothing to say. haha
Just my personal opinion from experience so don't take it too seriously
Everyone has a different set of priorities. It's great that we have many cool cars under $40k that suits others.
The handling characteristics, aero and driving position. Everything about it pretty much more track focused.

I was genuinely curious about what the difference is and what attributes make one better/worse than the other since you have a lot of experience with it. I've spent exactly 0 minutes on a track in my life and frankly DGAF about track performance from a daily. I bought a fast daily and nothing more.
You got the perfect car. Golf R is a super fast car in a tuxedo. It has the most matured look inside and out as well.
I use VW/Audi/Porsche Nappa Leather for my business. It's the best.
The CTR has boost and VTEC. Only the NSX has no VTEC, if I'm not mistaken.

I still have the poster boy of VTEC kicked in yo sitting in my garage. It definitely has it's place and is a lot of fun but the immediate shove into the seat of the boost hitting is intoxicating.

...and I hear it is a proper coupe. If you do want drama and track use, then yes, get an M2... or a tuned, turbo'ed BRZ?
