The manual died with the last gen. IS250. The previous IS350 was a 6-speed auto, tmk.

Man, R8s don't seem to depreciate at all. 2009s are still $80-90K.

yeah if I had a F355 I'd want to drive it a lot - and I don't think I'd be able or even want to afford the maintenance. Rick I'm sure you already know about this but have a quick glance down this thread. I think it might require a login

It's a f*cking sick ass car. Spent some time with a white V8 over the weekend (didn't drive it aside from positioning it for photos - hopefully more driving will come later) and damn it just looks so good. and the seating position and feel of the interior is amazing. here it is:

So here is the choice (among others) $100K 2010 R8 4.2 or 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe R?

I would have a hard time going with the Audi to be honest.

I like the look of the R8 better. I think of it in the "exotic" league but I don't think the same of the F-Type. It has a lot to do with how low the R8 sits, vs the F-Type.

I would mod it to make that V8 nice and throaty something like this:

I think I would go with the R8. More drama IMO. Got to sit in both at the auto show here the other day. Both great cars and both worth their asking prices (if I had the $$), but mid-engine V10 vs front engine V8...

Audi is a mid-engine car...kinda hard to pick against it. And well, Jaguar...as cool as they are now, they have some ways to go to impress me with their longevity.

That's a tough question. I actually prefer the F-Type's looks highly. Plus it's the comparison of (to make the price even) a brand new vs. used car. Then again the Jag is probably gonna depreciate like a mother.

I still can't decide. The R8 has aged well, but it still doesn't wow me quite like the F-Type. They are different cars though. Haven't seen them side by side, but I imagine the R8 is a a lot smaller.

I was taking photos of the 458 interior for just a few minutes (with the interior lights on and engine off) and the battery died. jumped it with a M3.

So in Iceland, my rental is a Toyota Avensis with a 2.0 and a manual.

Boaty suspension, very vague steering and a shifter that feels like it's connected to a black hole. It was cheap though, very cheap. $200 for the week.

I'll have to upload some pictures later.

With regards to styling, you think maybe some of that is because the R8 has been around for some time? If the two cars were unveiled at the same time, I think the R8 would steal the show.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the R8 when I first laid eyes on it as well. Seeing it in person was something else too. I'm still sorta on the fence.

Possibly. But again, they're different types of cars. I feel like the R8 is easily exotic territory whereas the F-Type is a GT. I haven't been smitten by a car like the F-Type for a long time. Even a couple of years ago I was in love with it. Still am.

I went and used the search bar (does anyone do that anymore? pffft) and found the original C-X16 thread. You guys want a car that stays true to the concept? BEHOLD! They changed very very little, if anything, because it was perfect as is

https://acurazine.com/forums/automotive-news-6/jaguar-c-x16-news-831954/

and my old posts to prove it:

Outside of exotic territory, the F-Type R is essentially exactly what I want in a car. Two doors; sleek, gorgeous lines; a big, brutal sounding V8 (supercharged, at that) coupled to a 6-speed manual. I like it a LOT more than even the C7 Z06 to be quite honest. I would take an F-Type R over a Viper as well.

Why alter perfection?

I'd take the R8. Even at five years old I like its looks better than the F-Type.

just found a (reported) 1/4 mile for the P1..... 9.8 @ 152. Given the car does 0-125 in 6.8 this is completely believable.

I'll be anxious to see how the F-Type holds it's value...

Jag's are still fucking terrible in the reliability dept. That being said, I would park a dead one in my garage to look at in my free time. Amazing looking car.

Srika, the Jag sounds better. A German sports car should not sound like a shitty AMC Javelin with straight pipes IMO

But the R8 is a pretty car. I saw and heard a V10 R8 in Seattle last summer. Was a sound I would never tire of ...

It looks pretty close. Not sure about the price-tag...but, it is also street-legal. Maybe that stands for something?
