that awkward moment LOL...

since you just replied with "LIKE" I mentioned that "you are not on facebook anymore" which implied that you must say something and not just "like".....

for what you replied, my original statement should have been a question....something like "are you not on facebook anymore?"....to which your reply would have been perfect

I'm posting here as this is sort of relevant ... TRD has a racing spec'd out FT86 at Goodwood. I'm wondering if some of the parts are going to start making their way into TRD catalogs for the FR-S and BRZ.

http://www.autoblog.com/2013/07/12/t...dwood-w-video/

Depending on the cost, I would think that a spec race of FR-S or BRZs would be a pretty cool idea ... Like what VW did with the TDI Cup.

TR3 Performance worked on this FR-S. They also make parts for the ST. Maybe they'll have something similar for us.
That's a surprisingly linear power delivery for that sort of power with this motor.

Yes.

As I'm sure you guys can already tell since my friend Frank posted his pics, I did a mini-shoot when I was in NY last weekend. We went down to Jones Beach, continued on to Captree, then stopped at Pinelawn/Long Island Nat'l Cemetery on the way back. Here's my pics:

This tree (which the second to last photo was shot through) at the cemetery was pretty cool:

It was a lot of fun taking those pics, and we played a little game at Captree (the one with the bridge and tower in the background). We each chose one lens to use for 15 minutes. Mine was the 50mm prime, which I havent used since I took pics of my Triumph, and that was well over a year ago. I forgot how much I love that lens. I think I was using my 17-50mm in the cemetery, and the other beach shots were with the 12-24 and 55-200. It was really nice shooting around different scenery.

Overall, the car handled the drive well. It was hot and traffic sucked. But I got between 28-29mpg the entire trip.

Oh, almost forgot - funny story. I do have to take it back to the dealer. The driver side tail light has condensation in it (it really is a Subaru...) I will not be going back to the same dealer that gave me the run around. Its a known issue, and I think one of the first TSBs to be released for this car. It shouldn't take more then 10 minutes for them to look at it and order a new tail light. I just hope it doesn't keep happening as I don't want to deal with this shit.

And at this point, I don't foresee myself doing any more mods to it until winter. I'm content with it as it is and I would still like the aftermarket to develop a bit more.

Morgan, since you're a DIY guy...any chance you could possibly take off the tail, trace the back end onto some sort of gasket foam to trace out a template. Then cut it out and fit it? Shoot, that might be a relatively easy and lucrative side business if it's a HUGE problem. Sorry if I got it wrong but I could have sworn it was related to the rear seals.

Anyway, I'm in love with you...errr, your photography.
Those shots in the cemetery are absolutely stunning. Nicely done!

I sold my Canon 30D and 50mm lens to bmoretls...ended up buying a D7000 with a 35MM f1.8 and a 18-105MM lens. So far, VERY happy with it.

Looks good! I particularly like the passenger fender shot.

How is the car post-work? Do you have to break in the motor again?

What's your plan for winter? Still looking for another car, or will you be driving the CL through?

I did that with a friends gaskets back in March/April. He's been selling them for a while at $15 or $20 a pop. They work for most, but there are still a select few that have condensation issues. I had condensation in the passenger side taillight shortly after I got the car, but it went away over night. About a month later, the driver side was the same way. But sitting in the sun, it went away. With all the rain we've gotten the past week, and the temperature swings, I now have droplets and a nice puddle at the bottom of the light. Ill pick up another set of gaskets from my friend and use some more sealant this time, but I want a new light first and foremost.

Have you posted anything on Flickr that was taken with the D7000? I don't get on the computer often enough to keep tabs on everyones thread, but I have Flickr on my phone, which I check every now and then.

Yea, traffic was ridiculous on the way up to NY. The way back down wasn't so bad. Of course I only slept ~3hrs before getting up at 5am, driving 5.5hrs straight to work, and working I dont even remember how many hours last Tuesday. I came home after work and passed the fuck out. I didn't even eat dinner I was so tired.

I'm not trying to sound weird (or any weirder than I already do), but as far as cemeteries go, Pinelawn is beautiful. Its very quiet and as long as there arent any services going on, no one will bother you.

If there was a need to break the motor in again, they didn't tell me, nor do I care. Its driving well, but still feels stupid slow. It actually feels slower with the stickier tires now that I can't break them loose (even when Im really trying to in the wet).

As far as winter goes - Im still looking for a IS300 SportCross. The CL is essentially sold, but if that deal falls through I have no problem driving a stock CL around as my daily. Its got heated seats, decent power/fuel economy, and its paid off. But if I find a solid IS300 SportCross, Im jumping on it.

How about doubling up the gaskets? and once on car run an actual line around of black or clear rtv to ensure the water can't sit on top?

At this point, might even have to run the blowdryer thru a bulb hole to get the humidity OUT before sealing it off. Maybe teflon tape on bulb bases?

I just don't want you to go on the mission for it to happen with the new set.

I did add a few new ones, Morg...anything after my sister's wedding is with the D7k.

Its possible that this taillight has a crack in it from being overtightened on the assembly line. I havent touched it or brought it to the dealer yet. I may try to dry it out myself and reseal it since I really dont want another dealer to touch my car.

Also, last weekend:

I need to replace the tranny and diff fluids when I do my next oil change (really soon). Thatll be fun

I put the tune back on the car about two weeks ago too. Its amazing how shitty the factory tune is. I went up to NY last weekend again and average 31mpgs. Not too shabby either considering the traffic.

Nice fuel economy. What would you say your average cruise speed is? I haven't broken 30 mpg yet, I usually cruise between 75-80 mph.

And for high mileage! You also need to dust off your steering column.

I need to clean the entire car. Its disgusting, I just rarely have the time Itll happen soon though, I need to clean it up for a meet in Charlotte in two weeks.

My typical drive has me at about 60-80mph to and from work, depending on the day. Going to NY was anywhere between 55 and 85. It varied a lot due to traffic. If I had left when I wanted to, I probably could have gotten there 1.5hrs quicker and averaged around 75-80 the entire way. I do get on it quite a bit, especially after getting an updated tune. I barely feel the torque dip anymore.

On average I probably spend ~2 hours on reddit, AZ, imgur, etc.

Couldn't do that at my previous job... this is probably the best one I've had so far.
