I wish we had that weather. I love VA, except for the wildly erratic weather fluctuations.

Yea, we took a look at the weather in Chicago (we have another site there) and saw -15 before wind chill.

Blame Yummy. He sacrificed a Cutler jersey to the weather Gods, and prayed that they'd send the Polar Vortex down here as punishment. BUT THE 9ers WON THIS WEEK YUMMY, CALL THE VORTEX BACK!!!

You hit the canyons, we hit the snowy parking lots.

Seats look great

Why'd you keep the air/oil separator off, though?

It was left off as I was selling the car at that time. But now that I'm keeping the car, it still doesn't matter if I install it. So I'm just keeping it 100% stock.

The problem lies in the fact that they used a flowbench, not the motor, to measure flow. Because of that, you actually lose some power. Also, there were no pre-MAF air straighteners, so you'd get flat spots in the power band. The straw that broke the camels back was on a drive back from NY. I was on the Jersey Turnpike in traffic, changed lanes while in 1st gear around 10mph, and the car stumbled when I tried to accelerate. I nearly got rear ended by an 18 wheeler. The only way to fix the hesitation is with a tune, except that any gains you see are from the tune itself, not the intake - you actually get more power from a tune with the stock intake than you do the Airaid. Shortly after all the issues, they disappeared from the forum, and left plenty of pissed off customers; myself included. I refuse to sell the thing because it's such a piece of shit that I don't want my name muddied by trying to pass it off onto someone else.

So far, the best intake setup on this motor (for NA, obviously) is the stock air box with a smooth silicone intake pipe and either a K&N or TRD filter. The stock system flows really well, surprisingly.
Are you serious, I wasn't expecting to hear that for a reason.. assholes

Is this the stock one? If it's good, have you improved the flow?
Facing that velocity stack to front?

How about the resonator? Does it slow down the flow?

well tooo much is tooo bad....

am guessing the airraid did flow well but maybe it was too much air for the motor and reduced intake velocity....not sure, just thinking out loud

Which is what happened with my GTI^
Stupid car went crazy, went in to limp mode and cut the turbo.
Needs tune to make the math of the flow Germans

The theory is that some of the resonators are there for a reason. They're helmholtz resonators, there to tune the air flow. I've trimmed down the snorkel, not sure if it made a difference. But I didn't do anything else to it. No reason putting money into something for such a small return in power.

The biggest thing was the missing air straightener. That caused the MAF readings to be highly erratic, even with a tune. Sure, you could switch to a speed density tune, but you better have a really good tuner to maintain drivability in all weather conditions.

You can have it all. Leave us with the 50* winter weather

It's currently 9* here, and feels like -5 Thank god for garages though, getting in the car earlier wasn't brutal. But leaving work this afternoon will be.

^ This.

Although I'm not a fan of cold weather, the ability to go skiing at will would be nice.

Raleigh is 2 hours from the beach and 3 hours from the mountains. It gets cold in the winter and it'll snow once, but it has the 100 degree days in the summer as well.

Same with Richmond. But we have front license plates, so NC is better.
