Sorry to hear about your motor. My buddy just had to have his towed to the dealership.
He posted a pic on FB with his car on a flatbed. He hasn't found out what's wrong yet.

I have been doing some research and it seems quite a few owners have noticed low coolant levels and always needing to add more coolant. They are told it is fine and just top off coolant by the dealer so they probably won't figure out the problem.
Great update, Morgan. WOW...I'm SO jealous of your friggin garage! Even a 2 car garage down in South Florida is only 20 feet deep...not 40 or whatever that is.
Car looks awesome on stocks or the volks...I'm infatuated with that color. I'm sure you'll get it all fixed...plus, 27mpg...that's nothing to scoff at.

Im ordering tires this week. I cant wait to get the Volks back on, I hate hellasunk'ed'ness.
Same here. I need to check the coolant levels this afternoon. I put about 900 miles on the car this weekend, so it had to have gone down a little.

Im going to have another compression test done by someone I trust. What the dealer told me doesnt make sense.

Coolant is like Kool-Aid...it doesn't evaporate!
They're probably thinking back to their 95 Oldsmobile they used to put water into the radiator on. Now THAT will evaporate.
30 Deep is still awesome, man. What a cool place to spend modding the car. I am going to LIVE in my next garage.

Looks like I changed my mind and increased my budget for tires.
Im leaning towards the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. 245/35-18 or 255/35-18, I haven't decided. Theyre 23 or 25 pounds per tire, respectively, which would make each corner 38 or 40 pounds. Stock is 40 pounds IIRC.
They appear to get excellent reviews too. The Bridgestone S04 Pole Positions are a very close second though, but theyre 26lbs for the 245s and have a treadwear rating of 280 vs the Michelins 300 (not a huge difference tbh). The Michelins have a mail in rebate and I have a $50 discount at Tire Rack, so they'd be around the same price.

Morgan, the Super Sport is a great tire....if I remember right, Inaccurate (Tim) was running either those or the PS2 which are rated very similarly on tirerack.
and 40lbs a corner is not bad at all....my OEM setup was like 46-47lbs/corner and them powder coated rims were right at 50-51lbs/corner....was aiming at 35lbs but might settle at 40lbs/corner....
btw do see if they have those tires in stock @ Sams....I know a guy who works at a local sams and he will install and give you warranty on brand new set for 50% off (only cash though)....so do see if they have them in stock and if you can find a person who can hook u up (cant be online order)
got brand new Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S installed on the wifey's lex from sams for $200-ish (dont remember exactly, but it was less than $250)....

No offense to the guys at Costco/BJs/Sams, but Id rather not have them mount my tires. I have a shop I've been going to for years that knows not to fuck up my wheels.
The price difference between the Bridgestones and the Michelins ends up being $60 once the rebate is taken into consideration. I've heard nothing but praise for the Michelins, so I think thats the route Im going to take. I'd like to try out the new Dunlop ZIIs next, depending on reviews.

^^^ hahah yup...some guys working there dont know jack about tires....
am not sure this dude in KS will let you "carry" the tires out but he does awesome work !!!
I did try to get the same deal at COSTCO but the conversation was very short:
me: hey whats up dude....I was actually looking for tires (damn memory, I cant remember which tires I was looking for at that point)
him: yes, we have them in stock....they are $250/tire....
me: is there a way you can hook me up with something....we can work something out
him: unfortunately, thats the best I can do
me: cool....let me think about it.....Thanks

@Sams, the guy was cool....when I said we can work something out, he said "got cash" I was like yup "ATM is just a minute away
"....done and done
and yes my aunt has Costco membership (so they added me) and wifey's aunt has Sams members (they added her)....I love my family

Hey M, would you buy this? http://www.autoartmodels.com/web/pro...47F03920771227

Ive been slacking on checking the fluids. Kind of don't really care right now. But, shes still running. Ill probably get off my ass and check the cold coolant levels tonight. Ill probably take it out for a drive tomorrow too, after which I can check the warm levels.Nah, just conference calls and meetings

I finally ordered tires on Thursday, they got here Friday morning. Picked up some TPMS sensors too so I wouldn't be bothered by the light anymore. I just need to locate the cable so I can reprogram the IDs. Unfortunately my shop couldn't fit me in yesterday, so I've got to wait until Tuesday to get my wheels back on. Oh, I went with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports, 245/35-18. I can't wait to get the car back on real rubber again. I just hope they aren't too wide for the front.
Let me know what you think of them once you get some miles in.
I checked it tonight while cold, radiator was down ~1.5" and overflow tank was down ~2.5".
Ill probably be bringing it back to the dealer next week, after my Charlotte trip. I finally got my schedule for work, and it sucks. I was told that it was going to be 4 days a week, 10hrs each day. The schedule has me there Mon-Fri 2pm-10pm

That is messed up about work. I mean yeah you have a job but if they told you one they when you were interviewing and did another thing I would be pissed.
So how is the unpaid internship going?
Yea, they messed up everyones shift. This whole thing is a clusterfuck, and we go live tomorrow. Ill be going in early tomorrow and Friday, hopefully I can leave early Friday so I can get ready for the meet Saturday.

I mounted the wheels tonight and took the car for a quick spin. Two things:
1) Tires, stahp throwing rocks at the side of my car!!
2)

Theres still more miles to be put onto them before theyre fully scrubbed in, but so far they feel great. Turn in is instantaneous. I didnt push real hard, but I did an imaginative slalom at ~50mph and it was like I my hands were connected directly to the wheels - it did exactly what I wanted, when I wanted it to.
Having a proper chassis shows me how much of a difference tires really make. The suspension was built around the Dunlops. Once the car was back on the stock wheels/tires, the tires were the weakest point. I couldn't get the car to transfer weight through turns, it was understeering a lot and just completely overworking the stock tires.
Now that good rubber is back under her, it feels like all the components are working with each other, not against each other. The coilovers and sways are doing what theyre supposed to, and it feels magnificent.

It might be something worth taping up and doing if you guys are worried about stone chips ... I had the guy doing my car do the arches to make sure that didn't happen as I'm poking out a bit too with the spacers.

I hope it's resolved without problem and quickly.
