Quote: Oh, I forgot to post a pic of the new tires on the wheels. Probably because I didnt take one. But thankfully Eric did.

More flushiness due to the tires, but now it looks like the car should go 1/8-1/4" lower. I probably won't touch it though.
Nice shot
More low is always better hehe

As I said before, I am not a fan of those kind of rims. Spokes ha to finish on the edges like my stockies but yours look great to be honest.
I think because sidewall i exactly like my taste... and flows straight with the edge of the rim...

True. That sentence could save you.
BUT, didn't they ever start to BS about saying your car is modded, not stock. Something might have caused it

or they did at first and then when they saw that you know what's going on, they took a step back? Hehe

I call it somewhere between silver and ice blue my dad had on his Peugeot 405

We notice it on BMW and say wow in person but to the rest it's just silver.

Asphalt is good

Quote: No and no. Too popular. My second choice would be Hot Lava followed by Ultramarine. Asphalt still looks more elegant though IMO.
Both reminds me of 350z and Subaru
Apshalt is unique.
Black and white, yup it's everywhere here in Boston too.

Haven't see Asphalt in person to be honest. Always white and black

If I was buying an FRS, would be Ultramarine though hehe

You drive a lot just like I do and love driving
Reason I could to more than 24k a year is because I love driving in a TL

Going to NY in moms MDX or dads FX is just boring (ok the way the car drives has a lot in it) but, technology inside makes me feel better.

"dual zone climate control, push button start, the JDM head lights, and the touch screen radio"

...is a big difference IMO... I would think about it a lot but that friggen silver makes everything 50/50 dammit

and there is $3k too

Can't you get those headlights from somewhere and install to normal FRS????

To be honest, Im not a huge fan of wheels with a lip either (only a select few catch my eye). But I've loved CEs for a long time and wanted to get them. Plus theyre light as fawk.

And I never realized how stretched the 225s were until I tossed the 245s on there. I love beefy tires. *waits for Tyler to make a gay joke*

They backed down quickly from that. They said during the first visit, the very next day, that Toyota was going to warranty the head gaskets (but then Toyota said to just monitor it). Everything thus far has been covered under warranty, rental included, so theyd have a hard time back pedaling now.

The Peugot is a bit too blue, but the FR-S looks just like the BMW Silverstone Metallic. I'm undecided. I like it in some pics but not in others.

Thats the thing, I absolutely love driving my car. Thats why I want mine back so badly.

Thats the predicament Im in right now. I can't decide which way I want to go.

Quote: and there is $3k too
And this is the main reason why. If I get another FR-S (again, cart before horse), that $3k could easily go towards mods. Unfortunately, I have expensive taste, so it might cover two things. But still...

Yes. A bit of wiring is required but it can be done. They cost, I hope you're sitting down, over $2k to import.

Damn, sorry to hear about these issues, Morgan. Would the fact that it's one of the first 86 help at all with resale? Hopefully Toyota will finally get off their asses and do something. Sounds like they've been dragging their feet a little lately.

And I'm sorry, but I find it hilarious they put you in a Prius It's like they went out of their way to give you something bad to drive. Let us know how the mileage challenge goes!

That was hilarious !!! and sad...

its the same situation in India....if the car is totally build in India then its cheaper....but if you "import" parts and stuff and just assemble you have to pay 150% (yes not a typo) of the car value in taxes...

so say the Honda Civic is 20,000 USD, you have to pay 30,000USD in import duty and taxes, which makes your 20K civic a 50K civic !!!

$2k to import...not worth it
Wow how did Tyler missed that.. haha
What are the 2 things money could go to? Turbo?

Same in Istanbul, Anil
Cars and petrol is exactly 3 times the price here. Diesel is way cheaper than gas though. I don't know why in here it's more expensive than gas.

S5 Coupe is 115,000euro, so like 150,000dollar
(sportback is cheaper)

MT GT 86 is 73,000dollar haha, go sell your car there Morgan

This car is so boring, I've started to play a game to and from work (since I don't want to be seen driving it anywhere else). Instead of trying to hypermile, like I did the first day (averaged 58mpg), I have since decided to try to get the worst possible mileage. Im down to 43.8mpg now. Im aiming for 30s.
I wouldn't want to be seen in one either! It sounds like a fun game though!!

Quote: This thread now gives me a sad. IMO, I wouldn't go for the anniversary addition if it comes to that. Not a fan of anything done with that car except giving it the good headlights!
Post a picture of the "anniversary edition" versus the normal. I want to see what's so disturbing about the over-illumination... Perhaps I've missed it, but why is there an "anniversary edition" for a car that's only been sold for a year (yes, I know that's the definition of anniversary, but usually it's 10th, 25th, etc. anniversary edition) and for a car that seems to have some serious mechanical flaws? WTF?!

My computer is acting up so Ill respond to everyones comments tomorrow, but Ill just paste what I posted on the other forum earlier:

The dealer just called me and said that I have a broken rocker arm. They said they're going to goodwill it this one time (wtf?) and the engineer will be calling me later this week to talk about it. I can't wait to hear what sort of accusations they throw my way this time.

So yea, I really look forward to the discussion with the FE, Ive got tons of questions.

I would right up lots of questions. I would almost get the help of someone really familiar with the engine to see if they have any other questions you should ask. I would grill them about every last thing. Say they will good will the repair is ridiculous. It is under warranty and not modded that would affect anything. Just absolute BS. Look forward to hearing the outcome of that call.

Well, the engineer never called me. So I called the dealer yesterday afternoon. As posted on the other forum:

Quote:
I called Toyota yesterday because I have not yet heard from the field engineer. I asked what they were replacing and if they could fax me the parts list. The SA had an attitude with me from the moment he answered the phone and said "we're just waiting on a (1) valve to show up. It didn't appear to be bent but we want to replace it anyway." I asked if that was the only thing they were replacing, and he then said "the whole cylinder head."

Other then that, I can't get any more info out of the SA. I asked if he knew why it was being good willed instead if warrantied and he said he's only repeating what he's been told.

Its also a good thing I called, because they said last Wednesday that the FE was going to give me a call, but apparently he wants to meet with me in person to discuss the car. And he won't be available until Wednesday morning at 9am.

Priority Toyota's service department is clearly top notch. /extreme sarcasm
I'm contacting the GM Monday morning with my concerns regarding this entire thing, as well as sending the required letter to Toyota notifying them that I want this declared a lemon.

Quote: What are the 2 things money could go to? Turbo?
Lip kit actually.

Quote: Call me cuckoo, but I think they're pretty.....
I like the way they look from certain angles, and with certain mods. The gap between the hood and the front bumper is 90s GM bad.

The anniversary edition isnt for the car itself but the brand (first car was 2003). All their models have a limited run of anniversary editions.

And I give you the ricers wet dream:

The aluminum block LS engines are surprisingly light. I believe it weighs ~80lbs more then the FA20 thats in the car and its dimensionally smaller than it too.

Im not sure they think the coolant issue is related.

Sorry they suck. Trade ya my Nissan nightmare.

Here's a good one. Went to look at a 4Runner. Private party sale he wanted to meet on X/Y street. As I pull up he says meet up the street at X/Z street. It is toward home so whatever. I have to make a U from where I was to get where I saw him in the Walgreens parking lot and by the time traffic allows it (under 1 minute) he is gone. I text him I am here he responds other person is test driving. I left.

10 minutes later he texts I am here, I respond sell to other person.

According to the shop that did the swap, the stock weight was 2820, and its now:

Most of that weight is in the T56. That tranny is a heavy bitch. The car is still at minimum 135lbs less then a Vette (Z06 is 3175lbs). Surely, the center of gravity is higher then stock, but with the right suspension setup it should still handle well.

Yep. I reached a point of diminishing returns with that car though. The platform was maxed out, and any other upgrades either cost way too much money for a small gain, or I was required to strip the car down to make it perform respectably. Neither of which I was willing to do.

Speaking of the CL, the long block is sold An official part out thread will be posted within the month.
