Not as much as I'd thought. I'd think it'd easily cross the 20M mark

The exotic market has softened a bit. There were some other big money cars that fell short of reserves.

and worth every single penny.

There is absolutely no other car I want or will want for the foreseeable future more than a McLaren F1 as spec'd. I actually don't care for tan interiors, but being an LM with the aero package - oh man.

Wow that Vette looks terrible.

I never realized the McLaren's had the side storage.

That's all.

Dealer, not auction:

https://www.thedrive.com/news/30424/...-with-21-miles

A California dealership is asking the eye-watering price of $75,999 for a low-mileage 2006 Lancer Evolution IX MR. In other words, more than twice the amount of its original MSRP of $35,189.

In case you grew up in the post-Lancer Evolution era, you must know that the Evo (as it is known) was a long-lived line of sports sedans produced by Mitsubishi between 1992 and 2016. Its history of competition in the World Rally Championship (WRC) would've made the Evo noteworthy on its own, but what really made the Evo stand out was Mitsubishi's secret sauce: the 4G63T. This turbocharged 2.0-liter engine was known for being shockingly receptive to tuning; so much so that the automaker even licensed Hyundai-built unites that could handle 30 pounds of boost and belch out over 500 horsepower with stock internals. And not to mention that the agile sedan became a video game legend thanks to Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo for Play Station.

With that in mind, it's obvious why the manual, all-time all-wheel-drive Evo was a hit with the tuning and racing communities, which have since blown up, crashed, or otherwise ruined most good Evos out there. Such a rarity is a stock, unmodified Evo that Road and Track reported in 2017 on the sale of a nine-mile Evo IX by Californian dealer South Coast Mitsubishi for $138,000, or over $100,000 more than its original sticker price of $35,814. That dealership—which reportedly overstocked itself on Evo IXs with the intent of selling them for insane profits—is the one that now lists this car for sale at $75,999, or more than double the $35,189 price listed on the car's window sticker.

As a result of apparently sitting in a showroom for 13 years, this Evo IX has a mere 21 miles on its odometer, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's in peak condition. Like with most cars kept in storage, its rubber components surely have dry-rotted, meaning its engine belts, some seals, and tires will most likely require replacement.

Of course, if $76,000 is ten grand too much for you, or you're more of a Subaru fan, consider this car's closest competitor, the 341-horsepower Subaru WRX STI S209. It'll have just as much street cred, and you can squirrel away that extra several thousand dollars to replace your head gaskets when the time comes (and trust me, the time always comes).

I always preferred the Evo to the STI in these years. Wasn't as much of a fan of the Evo X.

https://www.thedrive.com/news/30459/...22b-sti-dreams

Anti-lag sends staccato pops through Sweden’s forested upper peninsula. A flash of blue, gold, and fire blurs past the woods encircling you. A heavily turbocharged boxer 4-cylinder burbles into the distance until only errant shots pierce the silence. Congrats, you’ve encountered the legendary Subaru Impreza 22B STi and are better off for it. But to be more better, you need to put this 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B STi into your garage before we do.

Built to meet commemorate the brand’s third consecutive manufacturer title in the FIA’s World Rally Championship, a feat achieved by the late, great Colin McRae, the Subaru Impreza 22B STi was, and still is, weapons-grade rally plutonium. Evolving from Subaru’s WRC and road car programs, and succeeding the infamous Group B era, the Impreza 22B STi looked to show supercars of the time what Japan could do with a more pedestrian layout of front-engine, all-wheel drive, and 2.0-liter powerplant. And it did.

While the EJ22 engine was based on a road-going engine Subaru built, instead of the open-deck block, the Impreza 22B STi received a race-ready, hand-assembled closed-deck block, as well as seeing a displacement increase to a 2.2-liter, a larger turbocharger, turbo timer, forged pistons for its larger bore, metal head gaskets, new inlet valves, a set of sodium-filled exhaust valves, with everything coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission.

What these modifications meant was that the Impreza 22B STi developed 276 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. That said, the Impreza 22B STi likely made more than that according to rumors from the period of Subaru playing extremely fast and loose with the actual performance specifications. The 2,800-pound Impreza 22B STi could clip 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds on period rubber. Figure faster with today’s tar-like substances.

Bilstein suspension components, enlarged brakes (4-piston calipers front/2-piston calipers rear), larger and lighter wheels, differential lock control module, front and rear strut braces, sticky rubber, and a new twin-disc clutch were added so that the Impreza 22B STi could stick around corners like the brand’s rally car. It also looked the part with a widened track width, flared fenders, WRC-inspired front and rear fenders, and a big ‘ole wing out back completed the look.

The sum total meant that the Impreza 22B STi quickly became a cult-classic. It wasn’t as sought after at the time by supercar fanatics. They still wanted Ferraris and Lamborghinis. But their loss is everyone else’s gain as while the Impreza 22B STis are now expensive compared to their modern descendants, they’re relatively affordable classic performance cars.

Only 400 numbered Impreza 22B STis were ever built—this being number 196—and now is your chance to not only own a part of Subaru history, but to have one of the most brilliant enthusiast cars ever built. Offered up for sale by 4 Star Classics in the United Kingdom, the 1998 Impreza 22B STi has 25,655 miles on the odometer and comes with a pretty price of $99,995 which makes the new $63,995 Subaru STI S209 look affordable. Since coming to the dealer, the engine has been fully inspected and serviced with a new timing belt change “for the new keeper’s peace of mind.”

According to the site, the car “was first registered in July 1998. It is one of just 400 Japanese-supplied cars and has only recently been imported into the UK by 4 Star. The car has been well maintained from new, as evidenced by the original service booklets and accompanying Japanese paperwork. The original Impreza owner’s manuals are also present, along with the supplementary 22B booklets. There is documentation for the HKS turbo timer and Sony Minidisc player. The car has just been fully serviced and had the timing belt replaced. The inspection report shows a perfectly clean bill of health and the MOT is valid until January 2020.”

For those Subaru fans in the United States, the 1998 Impreza 22B STi is still ineligible to be imported and we’re still three years and change from it being road-legal. That said, so long as the car never graces an American road, there are ways of bringing it into the country and railing on it at your local track day, autocross, or far more historically accurate, rallycross events. And if you do decide to buy it, let us know and we’ll be right over.

No thanks on the Evo! Way more trouble than it's worth. Only good for someone with a ton of disposable cash and extra garage space. And a good shop connection.

^ Reminds me of one of the first videos I ever favorited on YouTube. I freaking love anti-lag pops.

Local to me, pass this dealer daily on my way to work.

https://www.thedrive.com/news/30473/...24-carrera-gtr

Much of Porsche’s history regarding the 924 is derided. Purists say it isn’t a Porsche and prices for the now-classic sports car aren’t in the same vein as its 911, 928, and even 912 siblings. One 924, however, defies all stereotypes and apparently commands Singer-esque prices; the racing homologation 1981 Porshe 924 Carrera GTR.

To go racing in the Group 4 class at Le Mans, Porsche needed to homologate the company’s 924 race car. As such, Porsche built 406 road-going versions of the 924 Carrera GT to satisfy the FIA’s rules. Porsche being Porsche and looking to over-engineer everything, two subsequent evolutions of the 924 Carrera GT followed; a 924 Carrera GTS and the car shown above and below, the properly batsh*t 924 Carrera GTR.

Though you wouldn’t call the 924 Carrera GT’s production run of 406 plentiful, it’s practically omnipresent compared to the 17 924 Carrera GTRs Porsche produced. Of those 17, nine cars total qualified and/or raced at Le Mans. To get each car ready, Porsche took the standard 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine and threw every ounce of motorsports engineering at the minuscule block. The end result was an engine that produced 375 horsepower and 299 pound-feet of torque.

With the 924 Carrera GTR’s power now set, it found itself a new intercooler, dry sump oil system, a stripped-out interior with full roll-cage, fully adjustable race-bred suspension, the brake system off of a Porsche 935, and side-exit exhausts. In race trim, the 924 Carrera GTR weighed in at a featherweight 2,050 pounds, which meant the cars were capable of hitting 180 miles per hour down the Mulsanne straight (before the chicanes were added) at Le Mans.

When they competed, the 924 Carrera GTRs finished 6th, 12th, and 13th overall, as well as secured a class victory.

This particular 924 Carrera GTR, which carried an as-new price tag of $75,000, has had a globetrotting history that few others could claim. From Stuttgart’s factory, the 924 Carrera GTR was one of just two cars to find its way to Japan. There, the original owner put just 109 kilometers onto the odometer. In 2016, the car found its way to London and then quickly to Monaco where it was to be auctioned off but didn’t meet its reserve. The car later sold for $640,000 at an auction held in the U.K. Now the car has come up for sale once again at a Porsche dealership in Texas and it’s carrying a hefty premium compared to its last sale.

Since its time in Japan, only 6 kilometers has been put on the racy 924 Carrera GTR. That’s not unheard of in the classic and collectible market, but for a car with the 924 Carrera GTR’s pedigree and apparent lunacy, we wished it had been driven in anger. But considering Porsche of North Houston is asking $925,000 for the Group 4 rarity, we’re also not surprised that no one has had the guts, or the insurance policy, to do so.

As for that price, well, we’re sure the 1981 Porsche 924 Carrera GTR is indeed worth a small fortune. If it’s worth the gold the dealership is asking, we’ll have to let true Porsche-philes decide that.

https://carbuzz.com/news/jamiroquais...ning-supercars

At its upcoming sale in London a month-and-a-half from now, Bonhams will auction three of the Jamiroquai frontman's cars, each of them valued close to a million bucks. And if we had the cash on hand, we'd be very tempted to place a bid or two, but we'd be hard-pressed to choose between them.

Not the least of Jay Kay's wheels up for grabs is also the newest: a 2016 Ferrari F12 TdF – the hardcore version of the F12 Berlinetta that preceded today's 812 Superfast. It's one of only 799 built, and was delivered in right-hand-drive configuration for countries like the UK, Australia, and Japan (to name just a few). It looks rather striking in dark grey with black racing stripes and a dark brown Alcantara and leather interior, and with just 895 miles on the clock, is estimated to sell for between $850,000 and $940,000.

Even more exotic is Jay's 2004 Porsche Carrera GT, in the popular combination of silver over dark brown. The ten-cylinder supercar – easily among Zuffenhausen's finest – has just 2,400 miles on it, and is valued at $830-960k.

More valuable still is a rare 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Lightweight coupe, painted a vibrant orange. One of just 200 made, the 2.7 Lightweight is among the most coveted of classic Porsches, and is expected to bring in between $960k and $1.1 million when the gavel drops at Bonhams' New Bond Street headquarters on December 7.

Anyone feeling brave? @ttribe

https://jalopnik.com/at-9-500-is-thi...est-1839773582

That naturally leads us to today’s 2007 BMW M6 which as you no doubt have already guessed, has gone a shit-ton of miles and hence may be seen as predominantly used up.

Of course, miles are not the ultimate determiner of wear and ultimate vitality as not all those miles are created equal. In fact, while this big Bimmer’s odo does read 201,000, the rest of the car appears to exhibit little sign of that grandiose accomplishment.

The epaint looks to be Black Sapphire Metallic and carries a carbon-fiber roof panel to shave a bit off the rollie pollie coupe’s substantial 3,770-pound weight. Both the paint and the roof panel look to be in extremely decent condition. There’s no peppering on the nose nor evidence of any curb rash on the factory alloys.

It should be noted that other weight-saving measures on the E63 M6 are aluminum skins for the doors and the hood so those are at greater risk, respectively, for parking lot dings and Tawny Kitaen dance moves. In the ad photos at least, this long-running M shows no sign of either.

Popping open one of the long coupé doors reveals an interior that has likewise almost implacably gone the distance. The miles and years are a little more evident here, with a busted air vent and skuzzy steering wheel as most obvious, and odious, evidence.

The car’s age is also belied by what is likely the world’s most egregiously tacked-on cup holder ever designed. Mounted to the side of the wide center console and a good reach away from the driver’s perch, it’s almost as if BMW’s designers were shaming you for wanting a beverage in “their” car. Aside from that, everything seems to be in serviceable shape, with good leather and carbon fiber trim that’s all intact.

The seller claims the mechanicals to be in good shape as well. The ad says the car has been “VERY WELL MAINTAINED” and boasts of oil changes every 1,200 miles. That latter seems like a bit of overkill in my book. There’s some sort of custom exhaust exiting the 500 horse V10 and the seller claims no issue with either that S85 mill or with its seven-speed SMG III partner

After over 200K you’d think there’d be something amiss here, and yet the car seems to present as both much younger and less traveled. Hell, even the seller remarks on it, saying “YES IT REAL DOES HAVE 200K MILES RUNS LIKE IT HAS 20K MILES.”

Okay, so lots of miles, but also lots of car to be had here. The E63 M6 is not the model line’s most beautiful member, nor with it’s V10 does it represent BMW’s highest cylinder count. These are however, brutally quick cars for their weight class, and pretty classy cars even in light of such brutality. Those factors, plus the intoxicating staccato sound of that lovely V10’s exhaust has kept their prices pretty high for old BMWs.

The miles on this one seem to be countering that. With the high miles, the asking is $9,500 and that includes a clean title. That’s about 50 percent below what a similar condition but lower mileage car may command, and that leads to the question of whether this car is a good deal.

Sacramento, CA Craigslist, or go here if the ad disappears.

Yeah, probably would have cost a heck of a lot less to have converted the car to a three-pedal manual than to continue to repair the SMG.

Break the Norm and Buy This Audi SQ5 With a Manual Transmission

You won't find an SQ5 like this at a dealer.

...

The transmission is an original Q5 unit imported from Germany (Audi never sold a manual version of the Q5 in the U.S., but did in Europe). The seller says no expense was spared in the conversion, and everything works as it would have from the factory. The car has been meticulously maintained throughout its life, and shows just 58,000 miles on the odometer. The seller's asking price seems to reflect the amount of work put into it. The car is listed for $62,000 right now on Craigslist, or around double what an automatic SQ5 in similar condition would cost. That's a lot of money, we know, but knowing how devoted some manual transmission enthusiasts are, we can totally understand someone laying out the cash for this car.

Cool swap but...you can get a fully loaded 2020 SQ5 for less than that.

There are crazy undertakings and then there’s this rusted-out 1961 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster barn find that recently sold for an astonishing $800,000 by the folks at Beverly Hills Car Club. The buyer's identity wasn't disclosed, but it's safe to say that whoever it is, they're in for quite a restoration project.

The car was originally unearthed from a barn in an undisclosed location and is apparently one of just 256 ever built and one of just 101 produced in its light-blue color, which is code #354. The sale included documentation dating back to the car’s original bill of sale, the owner’s manual, and even a full stack of service records dating up to 1968 before it was reportedly shoved in a barn. According to its paperwork, it initially sold to its first owner on June 20, 1961.
As it's seen in these photos, the sad 300SL Roadster suffered from a considerable amount of decay from sitting unused and unloved for such a long period of time. But when new and in good shape, it was apparently used and driven as it was intended to be as the odometer registered approximately 75,629 miles before it was taken off the road. The 300SL might be most recognizable in its hardtop Gullwing coupe form with its trick upward-opening doors, but the convertible is no less desirable. In fact, it embodied much of the high performance that the original coupe was known for, but with a million miles worth of headroom and improvements underneath its suave sheet metal. For instance, the Roadster's mechanically direct-injected straight-six benefited from an updated competition-specification camshaft that raised power by 20 horsepower, and revisions to the rear suspension that improved overall vehicle stability by minimizing the original coupe’s tendency towards negative camber changes, which induced oversteer.

From what we can see in the photos, the car looks mostly complete. From a restorer’s perspective, this is certainly a feasible, if not extremely expensive project, aside from its near millionaire purchase price. But given the fact that fully restored 300SL Roadsters can sell for over a million bucks, there’s little doubt that such an undertaking would result in a nice and lofty financial return.

A 1992 red Dodge Viper is hitting the auction block on January 16 at the Scottsdale Auction, and is expected to fetch a pretty penny. This is no common Viper, though: it’s the first-ever to roll off the production line and belonged exclusively to the late Chrysler CEO Lee Iacocca.

That’s double historical value, if you will, so no wonder
Bonhams is expecting to fetch between $100,000 and $125,000 for it. The car will go on sale without reserve and is in mint condition, with just a few miles on the clock and hardly any sign of usage.

Dodge Viper #001, an RT/10 roadster, has been exclusively owned by Iacocca and was barely used. It covered only 6,220 miles during its long life and has been kept in California, presumably at Iacocca’s mansion, and serviced by a local Chrysler dealer. The only time it’s been out of the state is when it was taken on a press tour after release and for a short stint in Colorado.

The first Vipers were delivered to customers in 1992 and Iacocca took ownership of the first-ever, saying at a press conference that he let Carroll Shelby keep the first Cobra they had built together back in the ‘60s. “I am not making the same mistake twice! This one right here is mine!,” he added, pointing to the Viper.

Much like that Cobra, this Viper is a clean, strong, aggressive supercar with an 8.0-liter V-10 engine delivering 400 hp. It lacks exterior door handles or door locks, airbags and ABS, and traction control. According to Bonhams, it is also “indistinguishable” from when it was introduced to the world on a stage.

“The Dodge Viper is a car that will undoubtedly go down in history as one of Dodges greatest creations,” the auction house says. “This particular Dodge Viper, 001, Lee Iacoaca's personal car from new, is without a doubt the finest and most desirable Dodge Viper in the world.”

That said, perhaps $125,000 doesn’t sound like that much money, after all.

125k, not as high as I was expecting, given VIN 001 & the Iacocca connection.

Would've expected at least $150-175K with such a storied background. Never know though, a bidding war could start for it given no reserve.

Still lower than I would've thought, if I hadn't seen the estimates. I'd have guessed over 300k.

There's a reason you don't see a lot of people using those GTO gens to make race cars out of. I'd be really weary with that powerplant underneath anything.

This jaw-dropping 1971 Datsun 240Z has just rolled onto the proverbial block at Bring a Trailer, and it's hard to imagine that it won't end up setting a record price for a first-generation Z.

The story is that an Indiana Datsun dealer gave this car to his son as a dental-school graduation present. The owner drove it sparingly, and the car was kept at the
dealership and later at his home. A mechanic from the dealership continued to maintain the car for the owner until the owner passed away last year. The car has traveled less than 22,000 miles, none of which — it's claimed — were in inclement weather.

This 240Z is said to be unrestored, and the condition certainly lends credence to the claim. Commenters are nerding out over details like the original (green) distributor, original radiator cap, and original hoses. Note also the factory AM radio, and the plastic still covering some of the interior bits. One knock against it: The wheel covers are from a later 240Z. Somehow, that seems unlikely to dampen the bidding, which at this writing is at $30k on the car's first day. One suspects it has a long way to go.
