Braking points. Lines. Using 2nd instead of 3rd on couple turns. Got my GoPro. Will upload them in an hour!

There you go! I think my 2nd to last lap was the fastest. The start of the video is funny. I point by this GTR on the front straight, he misses the braking and goes super wide..

He spun off the track toward the end of the video. We had a yellow flag because of him. But I think that was my record run.

My first and second time back in Jan/Feb were like 1:41 and 1:38 as a stock car.

With my wheels and tires set up, my record is 1:33.

GTR sounded nice yes! But that black R8 sounded glorious. He was in black group. I seriously sat at the bleacher for all 4 sessions when that car was out.

Yeah, I have a stock exhaust. I'm too lazy to take out the spare tire in the trunk... don't think I can change out my exhaust at the track. hahaha

Ted's turbo-ed BRZ sounded AWESOME though. It sounded so good in the car when I was out for the ride along. That BOV woosh sounds so... good.

Oh btw, we had one car flipped over. It was one of those older Impreza WRX wagon. Apparently he went off the track at the wrong angle. He was fine. The car was not though.

Yeah I think the track officials were saying that it was his track toy or something. The driver was being a cool sport about it too.

Man you should have told me before I went! I could have talked to him. haha I spotted his car like three times while walking around. It looks huge compare to like 10 NA and NBs at the track. haha

My car number was 44 on the doors! It'll be pretty cool to get some of my car pics. I have none. hahaha

I had so much fun... and actually improved quite a bit this time. Like I felt like I was doing much better than last time. And the lap time proved it! It felt so rewarding..

bahaha yeah!

And you know what's funny?

One of my track friends works at Tesla service. He brought out his service advisor co-workers to the event. So we had like 5 Tesla service advisors out there and they were like "okay.... let's not say that we work at Tesla... so we don't have to help him out when his Tesla breaks down.

I saw that Tesla guy recharging his battery at the lot.

Just out of curiosity, what do you do for tires and brake pads for track days? Do you run different rubber/pads or how quickly do your normal tires/pads wear out?

I don't put much miles on my car since my work commute is like 15 miles roundtrip.

So i just use my track tires and track brake pads for DD.

And I like going to canyon runs once in awhile so its a good idea to keep them on.

Some people just swap wheels and brakes at the track though. It takes not too long for track junkies to do them.

And its funny because you can load a full set of track wheels and tires and a jack in 86 cars. LOL

People always have this: what: look on their faces when 86 guys start taking out the stuff from the trunk. LOL

How long do they usually last for you? I've heard horror stories of tires and pads lasting one track day, that seems like a very expensive hobby to do.

How do your track pads work on the street? Do you not need to get a lot of heat into them before they start performing better?

Generally guys who track do one of two things...

1) Have track wheels and pads.
2) Daily something like Hawk Hp+ and Sticky tire like a Star Spec.

It isn't like either of those will not function properly on the street. The big thing with both is that they wont over heat. Probably more important than the pads is the fluid...if it's boiling you aren't braking. Sticky tires generally have less treadwear and performance brake pads tend to dust more. Other than that, they perform just like your OE stuff, just can put up with much more of a beating. How long the tires last is all relative to how much you drive your car in the first place. I know lots of guys who daily their cars and track them. The tires usually aren't toast after the track days but I would honestly estimate a good day of 5-6 sessions will eat 15-20% of your tires life easy.

Yes. When people get to the track in the early morning, they usually take some spots, and that's their for the entire days. So, they can just leave whatever stuff there.

One track day? WTF

My friends who track their cars a lot say that it lasts 7-8 track days.

The track pads work much better than the street pads on the street. It's pretty much the same thing but much better with loud squeaking sound and brake dust.

Some people can't stand that loud squeaking sound, but I don't mind at all. Because Racecar.

I honestly don't think I can go back to the street pads after running these track pads. My car felt completely different when I changed them. These with brake fluid were like the best investment ever. Super cheap but much so much improvement.

But yeah, tracking isn't that cheap. You have to pay to play.

And you have to be able to cover yourself IF you every total your car since the insurance won't do crap about it.

So yeah, it requires not just large balls, but fairly large wallet too.

I'll be at Buttonwillow next on the 20th!

This guy is my friend's friend. He has wheels/tires/coilovers, but runs 2:02... That's like super fast. I'm going to watch this like 20 times before I get to the track. haha

Not sure what it's called.

It's a Turn 9 on CCW layout. Yeah, that corner has a foot deep ditch so people crash in that turn quite a bit if you go in too hot.

familiarity is just as important as the car itself. I would say your time will be in the 1:2X after a few more sessions at BW with your current setup.

How was the straight?

Yeah, I think I can get it down couple more seconds with the current set up. I think I can take the Bowl turn a little better and go a little more aggressive through the S turns after the Bowl.

I hit the redline in 4th gear right before I bring it down to 2nd for the skidpad turn.

Oh, I was doing CCW layout, so the S turn that I'm talking about is the turns after the Bowl!

LOL not many cars! because I put on quite a bit of distance from the turns leading into the front straight. haha I can name GTR/S5/TTRS and some fast 86 guys. I was in a intermediate group, so that's probably why there weren't that many fast guys. I passed so many cars though.

Speed Ventures was better because you can just point by pass in any area not just front and back straight!

Those are good for Expert Drivers. For people like you and me, passing at any area is not good because when we try to get the best time and there are GTRs on my ass trying to pass me in turn, i would have to slow down to let him pass. That will affect my time.

We probably will never get a good lap because i am sure there will be cars passing us in turn in every lap.

haha yeah, you are right.

I usually get in to the pit to avoid the traffic when there are too many cars around.

OMG I WANT TO GO BACK. I seriously had SOOOOOO MUCH fun last Saturday. Jeez.
