Have fun man! Nice to see the scuffs from the track days are gone. How did you get them off? I still have some tire boogers and bugs on my front bumper, heh.

I assume there are stretches of some great highway driving? There has to given your location, Kimchi and where you're headed.

Here, the roads are pretty darn straight.

Have to head out to the mountains (i.e. Banff/Jasper) to get any nice driving.

Highway 1 is my favorite freeway to drive on. We're talking about actual 2-3+ lane highways. Incredibly scenic roads. You drive next to the coast at some points and the roads have elevation changes and sweeping curves.

Yes, all my friends told me to take the PCH up to SF. I've never done it before but have heard so much great stuff about that road. I'm pretty damn excited!

I'm planning to take PCH from Ventura area and go up to Monterey. Will probably going to stay a night there. Then drive up to SF/Bay Area and spend some time there. I want to drive up to Oregon from there via 5. Heard that section is pretty fun to drive as well. My destination is the University of Oregon in Eugene. Gonna do a selfie of me doing "fight on" sign in front of their stadium as I hate the Ducks.

By the way, I have just finished clearing up my space at work. My first job out of college, 5 year worth of work stuff, cleared in exactly 1 hour. I got a little emotional for some reason. LOL

Well, just booked my day to Big Willow on 10/11.

Can't wait to finally go out tracking again.

Big Willow is a big track!

Looks like fun. If they had something remotely track-worthy, I'd want to go out there when I visit my in-laws. They live in Tehachapi, short drive to Willow Springs.

That is a very fast track, you sure you got enough power to keep up with the traffic?

It's okay. It's all for fun.

This is a sample run of stock FRS with RS3 tires at Big Willow.

This is another sample vid.

Looks FUN!

This is a guide for that track. Good stuff.

Question.

In that first video by AE performance, if you skip to 2:08, the car oversteers badly. The driver corrects it by counter steering back and forth.

When that happens, I have to put the pedal down and do that to stabilize the car, right?

I've never pushed my car to the point where it needed that much correction.

based on my personal experience:

Don't overthink it when it comes to correction. If you spin out, then you spin out. You will learn from it.

How much correction and reaction time will come naturally after a while.

just Don't develop an SOP for counter steer.

I've never spun out before.. hopefully when I do, it'll be a safe one.

Just wanted to know how to react in throttling on that situation.

I spun out so many times most of them were because i fuked up the preparation for the turn in. things like come in too fast or gear got stuck in Neutral while downshifting.

Kinda hard to say.. Because to me it is more natural instinct.

I don't know about throttling but i know you should not brake. haha

I don't have audio but it seems like he was purposely initiating a drift. Don't wanna completely lift off in that situation, don't add throttle either.

But like nowind said, you'll know how much to correct with experience. Of course you need to countersteer, but can't really tell you how much angle is needed.

Yeah, my track junkie friend just said it all depends too.

But he did say when that happens, keep the throttle at the same position and countersteer. Do not ever let go of the throttle as it will transfer the weight to the front and spin out.

Yeah, I haven't spun out enough to react naturally, but I know what I should do. I keep the throttle where it's at, because if I try to lift a little, I end up lifting more than necessary.

^Exactly.
He tried to grap a grip from the first turn and then ended up loosing the rear.
He shoul've not turned the wheel that much to left and use more power to slide the car totally to the right. If you ask me.

Fixing the position by steering back and forth... That happened to me on a rainy day while making a 90 degree turn from a yellow light. Exactly like in the video.
Took the corner fast to slide the rear end but left it too much and had to steer the car to other way.
Leaving the gas pedal is bad, trust me on this. Either keep the pedal at light throttle or tap the gas pedal.

In city this might be hard of course, all you want to do it slow down but on track you got they way in front of you, never let the car slide by itself, always use the throttle.

Yes I don't track but...
And don't be scared to slide the car, I don't know how you drive but use those wide and fast corners, you don't drive a 500hp car. Hit it and take it fast as you can.
Fuck this shit I am going to track my car too

Remember not to slam on your brakes either when you start sliding out and about!!! Go against your instincts and keep your foot on the gas :P
We gotta take you drifting one of these days!
