Are you still wondering why you are missing that E28 so dearly? Might explain one thing or two.

What a way to fuck up a thread.

YES - everyone has opinions. Great.

YES - BMW makes a great car. I hear they are also very affordable to maintain and a great choice for someone that keep cars for a long time and a lot of miles.

YES - other than the M3 and 335, for the same money I would take a Genesis over a BMW.

BTW....these are my opinions. I have a few more if you like.

I would take a Genesis over a BMW.
I have only one problem with this; the OP mentioned fun-to-drive as priority.

FORGET BMW. I said many times in past threads that 3-series was the best in class, but for other classes *look elsewhere*.

Genesis is more of a boulevarder than something that inspires genuine fun-to-drive. More Avalon-esque than Infiniti M let's say. But if fun is a main priority, look Euro.

I hear they are also very affordable to maintain and a great choice for someone that keep cars for a long time and a lot of miles.
Do you think that all Europeans are masochists? Just asking.

No....I just got tired of listening to friends and co-worker complain about the amount of money they spend on upkeep on an older BMW.

Back to some intelligence, after decades, I can tell you that luxury mid-size top sellers are Euro (E-Class and 5-series) and it is NOT because their owners have a bad experience before. To the contrary, they just won't go "Asian" once they tried "Euro". This is a bit bitter to say because I was once a genuine admirer of Acura a few years ago.

Use this, I dunno if you will get the exact price as listed since its pretty close to invoice, but some dealers will get close? Maybe they will even match it.

Also it gets you in touch with what amex thinks are highly certified dealers and those dealers might give you better prices??? Worth a try.
Yes I do. Thanks. Comes out to $44,567. I think I can do better through some other channels I have.

lol thats why i stopped pushing toward the M, I saw after that your decision was made.

edit: and that statement is totally true, sometimes cars that arent as good on paper appeal to people, I know that happens to me too.

I haven't yet seen a Genesis up close, but for $45K and all the stuff you get with it, it is a bargain. Hyundai's direction is what Acura is still lacking to this day. Would I ever buy a Genesis, probably not, but that's not because it's a Hyundai, it's just too much car for what I'll ever need. I do like the Sonata though.

If you like the Genesis, I say go for it.

Yea, but you based your opinions on reviews and personal opinion of the brand (as you said) so how can you honestly have a fair judgment of the car having never sat or driven one to make the claims you have??

Isnt the Rspec $47k and the 4.8L 44k?

Truth.

Hell im the largest BMW fanboy around and even I wouldnt tell someone who keeps cars for 10+ years to buy one.

My only concern is NSXNEXT is getting blinded by this one model when he hasnt driven it or any other cars in this segment. $45k opens a lot more doors and shouldnt be ignored.

My prediction:

2012 Genesis R-Spec
MSRP: $47,350

Out the door price: $44K (incl sales tax, tags, etc.)

And don't worry Jesal, I've never throw $40K at anything without doing my due diligence.

In the end, if I can't get a good deal on an R-Spec, it will be the 4.6L G. Still an amazing vehicle.

I like everything about the R-Spec except for its wheels.

If Genesis, Black seems like the best color for it.

Yeah I'm not in love with the 4.6 or the 5.0 wheels. Easy enough to swap out and get something new. Oh man here we go.

I say again: In for pix.

You have me half tempted to test-drive an R-Spec just for $hits and giggles.

I simply can't believe Hyundai is going to be the new choice for enthusiasts and not Honda/Acura.

What happened to you, Acura? Hyundai is eating your lunch!
