A-HA!!!!!!!! I still want a HD video device of some sort. Will probably get one of the new P&S cams that have it.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to buy a Canon since you already have the lenses?

I looked for a good while - was going to get one of the nicer P&S cams, but realized I would be spending almost as much (or more) than a small DSLR - so I decided to go that route. I got a really good deal on this D60 kit, and I already have a SB-600 I can use with it (used to have a D70). I will get a 1.4 lens later on. The main factor here was the deal I got on this.

Haha intersting srika but how does it feel when you use both cameras?

i've became quite skilled at both brands that my friend still bitchs and moans at me for mastering it haha...

btw I'm kinda surprised how many people kinda do a ????????? when they hear I got a D60... I guess they expect to get a "better" cam, when buying a new one.

I guess the difference is, if the camera was replacing what I currently had, it would have probably have been a "better" one.

I agree but i think your rather reason with
price/ size and usability
when it comes to a camera thats not replacing your current haha..

I'm thinking about getting a 2nd body but i think if i get a d3 or d700 it would almost make my d300 obselete unless in certain situations haha...

uh.. hey dom is that T1i small? I'm kinda not too happy with the IQ on this D60. I mean, far away details look horrible. Like on city shots. Blown out sky mixed with buildings looks rather bad. Think I'm gonna return it and spend a little more on a new-generation camera. Oh well, I thought it would be enough for me but I guess I'm a tad spoiled. It's D-lighting is nice though, It's rather easy to take nicely exposed shots with good color and highlights just in A mode. But, it's the definition of the details that kills it.

Maybe this is generally why you usually don't go "backwards" on tech...

ah poor you man haha fell into the sharpness bug. I guess you really can't comprimise from the pro body from a entry - level consumer.

I think the Rebel line is about the same size as Nikon entry level cameras? so I would say yes. But I rarely notice since I never take the grip off.

I really love using the grip on my d300. I haven't had to take it off except for cleaning.

well your grip actually makes the camera better, where as the canons just double the battery pretty much.

I do get a better battery life and higher fps, the new speculations of the d300s or d400 is already putting my camera to shame =(

I know what Mix is talking about, Canon vertical grips seems somewhat of an afterthought, while Nikon took the extra time to integrate into the camera body. That MB-D10 on my D700 is SO much better than any grip I used for Canon, 5D, 40D or 30D.

Or it could be that Canon just integrated more features into the camera and Nikon expects you to buy a grip to get a fully functioning camera

I know what ya mean jup my friend runs a 40d and his grip is a bit too square for my hands.

The d300 uses the same grip i kind wish i had a d700 =P
hey does your mb-d10 wabble sometimes? like its not fully tight but its close and only wabbles slightly?

The only thing you get with the verticle grip is a few more fps, if you use a bigger battery.

no way! I feel so limited without the grip - because of the portrait ability. sure it doesn't give you extra FPS but it's inaccurate to say all it does is give you more battery life.

Most think of the grip as a battery grip, that's because when you connect it to the camera it takes away the battery from the camera body. With the MB-D10 you don't have to remove the battery from the camera body nor do you have to put one in the grip. It works as the grip should, a vertical grip, to allow you to shoot in portrait mode properly.

Remember the days when your FPS speed depended on how you could actually wind the film?

wish there was a cam with a rotating sensor, so you could choose whatever angle you want. then you could keep a small(er) form factor and also it would solve the flash shadow issue.

of course...

http://askthephotographer.com/2008/0...tating-sensor/

Leaf Verto internal sensor rotation technology means no more turning the camera, or even the imaging module with the Leaf AFi 10. With one finger you can flip the sensor from landscape to portrait and back, giving you the power to quickly capture 56mm resolution in both landscape and portrait orientations.

^ O___O awesome gear

Does anyone use any wireless flash triggers??? I've been looking into getting one to use with my 430EX ... been reading reviews and whatnot, but it seems that there are a lot of compatibility issues with the canon speedlites @___@

battery grip vs. MB-D10, I don't see what makes the latter "proper" and the former not, in terms of shooting portrait. Both give you the same result.

If there's a "proper" way to shoot portrait, it would be with a built-in grip
