Nice I really love my 70-200 vr 2.8 took out the other day to get ground hogs.
Miz - nikon place is a drop off place but i'd still have to wait and pick it up, they do offer to ship it for 12.95 with insurance and 2 day delivery.
They guy let me off with my d300 being a month out of warranty to get it cleaned and replaced the rubber seals and grips.
Any lens suggestions with 1000 smackroos?
so far 50mm 1.4
17-55 2.8
70-200 vr 2.8
2 sb800 not sure what i should look into.

Haha thats what i was thinking. Only issue is would i use it often enough. I used to have a sigma fisheye 12.5 i think for work. Never used it since the job didn't take off very well.
What other things can a 105 macro be used for *shrugs?

yea as much as i would like to pick up an ultra wide zoom, i dont know how often i would use it.
my buddy picked up one and he says other than landscape shots he doesnt use it, so its collecting dust.

although, that lens brings up another problem since you have 1 body, if they get close you're going to have to change lenses FAST!
i got lucky and was able to shoot a soccer game with both a 40D + 70-200 2.8 and a 50D + 300 f4.
man that was so nice!

Yea I mean i currently depend on one body, which works for my budget and my range of shooting. I might go with a lens holder around the waist for sports. Works pretty well according to the pros for my school

I just picked up a Crumpler 8 Million Dollar Home today.
The thing is big, but not insane like the Brazillion Dollar Home. You can easily fit two pro bodies with long zooms like 70-200 f/2.8's or 100-400s mounted and hoods reversed. It will even hold my 14" Lenovo laptop, so it will make for a great carry-on bag for all the traveling I've been doing lately. Maxed out, it would probably hold a body and 3 or 4 lenses, one or two flashes, and a bunch of accessories in the oversized pockets.
We're off to Nova Scotia and PEI for 9 days and I plan on bringing this bag and the 5MDH instead of lugging the big backpack. I always bring way more stuff than I need for these trips, so this will be a bit of an experiment.

Definitely has a different feel. Bulkier, but I love it (that's what she said).
The camera is definitely very unforgiving. It'll take some time for me to get used to it, a few quirks I need to adapt to and some buttons I haven't read up on yet.
Great experience though. Next up, might get a D2Xs later.

Thanks
The D2H is outstanding in action/sports photography. Hope to put it to good use soon.
Thanks Jeff.

^^^
So this experiment was pretty much a non-starter.
I loaded the bag up as I wanted it for the trip only to find out it was too heavy. I don't like having that much weight slung over one shoulder, so I ended up taking the smaller of the two backpacks instead.
Anyone interested in a new 8MDH?
I bought it from a store that has no return policy, so I'm going to sell it when I get back from Halifax.

Definitely a limit to how much weight I want on one shoulder for ling periods of time.
Luckily, I don't have enough gear to make that a problem!
Dan, have you ever used any of the Tenba shootout backpacks? I am looking at one for times when I want to hike somewhere for a few hours before getting to take pictures.

Dan, sorry it didn't work out. I had a Brazilllion Dollar Home for about two weeks. I loaded it thinking it was all that I would need. As you said they weight gets stuck on one place of your body. I never left the house with it.
#989
Dan - I know what you mean. Even moderately loaded, the 6MDH can get heavy after a long day. I usually end up slinging it on the opposite shoulder and have the bag behind me and switch sides throughout the day. I actually ordered the 7MDH but they shipped the 6MDH. I got an RMA but realized I didn't want anything bigger and just kept the 6.

I have a 5MDH, a Lowepro Mini AW, and a CompuTrekker. The Mini holds a surprising amount of gear for it's size, but the straps are smaller so it's not the best for long hikes. The computrekker is more comfortable but it's easy to get carried away with stuffing it full of gear. The 5MDH works great for the casual walk-around shoots, but it's not very tall so the 70-200 is tough to take. That's where I was hoping the 8MDH would come in handy.
I'm going to list the 8MDH on craigslist and kijiji when I get back and maybe try a Domke.

I picked up some Kenkos extension tubes last week. Now I need to figure out how to use them. I only got to play for a couple of minutes and everything is blurry, so I gotta sit down and figure it out.
#992
Tubes will help you with getting the shot below your lens min focus distant. It was weird putting them on my camera the first time I used them.
I just ordered a Kenkos set Saturday night, seems to be the only ones for Nikon.
