I'm getting it delivered today. However, I've had a couple of chances to play with the camera and I like the feel in my hand a lot. The xti always felt too small, which is why I have the battery grip for it. I am also going to be getting a grip for the 7d but I can go without it as well.

its kind of funny, my grip lives on my 40D 24/7.

during my trip i took it off for a day to see what it felt like, and i definitely didnt like it

so the grip will stay on 24/7.

same for my d300 i only take it off for rig shots. I had to replace my ball head since the d300 gets heavier every time with the grip and 17-55mm.

^^ What did you get to replace the Elinchrom triggers?

With all the equipment upgrades, it sounds like things are going well for you!

I haven't replaced them yet, but I will be getting a CyberCommander with CSRB+ receivers. They can adjust the flash power for the AlienBees and be used as normal triggers for my Canon flashes.

Thanks! Actually, I've been fine-tuning my kit over the last year which has involved selling more than buying. Before I was buying a lot of gear thinking that "I might use that one day" but I now I put my money in gear that I use the most. Everyone works differently, so I'll let them use the stuff I don't use as much.

Thanks! I plan on building my own vagabond with more energy-dense D-size rechargables and a pure sine wave inverter. The Vagabond is great but it's very heavy. I don't think my solution would be any cheaper, but it would be about half the weight with the same power output.
