Christmas present:
The workflow is so easy with Lightroom and the results are far better than the Adobe Standard profiles. It's also very rugged so I can take it everywhere with me, which I intend to do.

I now have the WhiBal, Expodisc, and the ColorChecker Passport... I think my white balance is now under control.
Since my WhiBal is a little redundant, I'd be happy to sell you mine for cheap.

I did replace the 24-105 immediately. It was covered by insurance, and they paid out the full cost (after a little back & forth).
It's a light stand for off-camera flash and the shoot through umbrella. I've been wanting to branch out a bit with lighting. Can't wait!
Oops, didn't properly bold the Kenko teleconverter. That's new, too. Basically picked up a lot of want 'em, but don't need 'em stuff.

D, are you planning on going hard-wired for your off-camera flash or are you planning on going with radio triggers? If radio, PW's with the E-TTL support or cheaper triggers and "manual" flash? Just curious as I've been thinking about off-camera flash stuff lately as well.

I've played a little bit with this feature indoors and it has been pretty consistent (more so than my skills). For outside work, radio triggers would be better. I've used the cheapo ebay triggers for manual flash and they have worked fine. Though, it can be a bit of back and forth getting the flash settings right.

So is the 7D/master thing is still optical line-of-sight just like it is between two speedlights? Personally, I've really never considered that a viable option since it seems like your triggering would go bye-bye the instant you decided to put the flash behind a piece of furniture or put a soft box in front of it. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I did a quick glance and thought this was some sort of make-up kit.

Umbrellas and softboxes can interfere, but you can sometimes turn the flash receiver toward the camera while aiming the flash head at the subject.

Do me a favor and take note of whether or not the backwardness of the zoom movement hinders your use at all. I found that I lost a number of shots with that lens because I would zoom in, only to find out that I had zoomed out and the shot was gone. I also tend to keep my zooms in the shortest focal length, and adjust as I compose the shot, but it was a PITA to have the lens hugely extended all the time in order to be at the shortest focal length.
Not trying to sour your experience, just wondering if you have any of the same experiences.
Also, waiting on AVN pics. As in, canceled all plans for the weekend because I am sitting here waiting for the pics. I have bottle to pee in so I don't have to go away from the computer as I wait for the AVN pictures. No pressure.
