Good synopsis.

I'll add the 6.5 fps as a "notable" improvement.

Oh yeah - there are probably a pack of things nobody has commented on.
I didn't go through the spec list and add those things yet.

30D is 5 fps actually, but I guess that's still a good 30% faster!

It's a good point, though, I guess it's maybe a minor improvement over the 30D

Ewwww, first big camera bug found.

Someone put the "Bigma" (the Sigma 50-500) on the 40D. A couple hundred shots later, their mirror is triggering uncontrollably once the battery is inserted. (even if the camera is off).

Oh well, can't be bleeding edge without some bleeding........

well i would assume the issues are because its an aftermarket lens? maybe a reflash from sigma on the bigma would help?

whenever that is sigma comes out with one for the 40D

I'm hoping Miz is right about it being an off-brand lens.

I guess they're selling them for Photoworld, who has them in stock...you won't get free 2-day shipping thru Amazon that way. Amazon is selling & shipping them from their own warehouses as well...not yet in stock. That's my read, anyway.

I see, but I'm not buying coochie from a place call photoworld. I only deal with amazon.com and adorama.com when buying from amazon.com. I dealt with some other joe blows as amazon.com's "vendor" companies, never again.

One of my friends is an amazon vendor and he says Amazon is quite strict.
If you delay ship times or get bad feedback, amazon will drop you as a vendor.
So it should be OK.

In other news, I drove to the store today and grabbed my camera.
I need to play with it a bit before finding something interesting/different to say about it.

No, I was just saying I have some, with nothing to buy. That puts me in the same spot as you. reversed but It's in the skidmarks.

I don't know, I'd like for it get out in the open first, see what others are saying. I guess since Adobe hasn't put out their upgrade yet. I can wait.

It's not like the 30D isn't a great cam to tide you over until the upgrade you're looking for.

Good to know, unfortunately only when something wrong happens do most people speak up. So I'll just limit myself to the big boys. Though I did get a $100 HD antenna for $50 using one of the vendors.

OK, so how's the camera, what about... and ... . j/k

First impressions:

It looks okay, slightly bigger than the previous models.
It weighs about the same.
They moved some of the labels around, but nothing that's too confusing.
I'm pretty comfortable with Canon's layout though.

At the store, I already saw people holding it at arm's length, and just looking at the back....... aigh.

Anyway, enough about the box, I'll try out the camera tonight....
