Well, they did what any smart company would have done...Sony bought Columbia, who had bought MGM...
SO, they own all the movies in the Sony/Columbia/MGM libraries...which isn't tiny. And of course they said we are only releasing these on BR. We would have all done the same thing.
But there were no threats or bullying...it basically made the other studios stand back look at who they were going to support. Some said both formats, some said HD-DVD, some said BR only...in the end the tide shifted and as BR gained traction (PS3, etc) the studios slowly changed to match. It didn't happen over night.
As far as cameras...Sony CAN make the lenses...what pisses me off is WHY don't they...Their excuses are lame.

Can you share some of their excuses? I'm interested to know why they drag their feet on lenses. They do make compelling bodies.

They basically kept making excuses regarding using lens adapters, etc etc etc.
I translate as they are too scared to compete.

Anyone having an issue with flickr not showing camera/lens info in their photos? Ever since they recently forced the switch to the "new" flickr, my camera/lens info doesn't show up. About 45 photos into my page the info suddenly re-appears.

I've noticed this kind of thing happen before with the new layout, one day something isn't working, and then it starts working again later on - I'd guess typically this happens because they get a flood of complaints about it when it happens. The new layout is really a "work in progress" that they rolled out before everything was finished. And they are clearly still tinkering with it.

I've used their support before for stuff like that. They kick it and it goes back to normal.
I'm just impressed that every single change they make is one that makes the ui less functional. Whoever is in charge there is a truly skilled.

so, I don't know what's going on with Flickr, but I just noticed this... first of all, NONE of my photos are tagged with these words, yet when I search these key words in Flickr, some of my photos show up
and if you search those key words (for EVERYONE'S photos), there's some weird shit... a bunch of passed out, drunk people
Untitled by YVR_Shooter (aka trainerKEN), on Flickr

btw - tried an Eye-Fi 16GB card with the 1D at the Supercars event - since we were doing on-site photo printing and had to dump the photos from each session. Yeah it was unusable for that purpose. It was taking about 1 minute to transfer each photo. And each session had about 10-20 photos. So I returned to walking the memory card over to the photo station and getting an empty one. Not a big deal but I was pretty disappointed with the transfer speed. I wonder if there is a newer model or something. And oh yeah, it didn't work at all with the 5D3.

*note: my phone was in my pocket, so it was very close to me, not sure how far you were to the device you were transferring the photos to. Plus, it was JPEG only. Also, my Eye-Fi card is the Mobi version.

Interesting that it didnt work with the 5D3 as that is a eye-fi connected camera.
How far were you trying to transmit the photos
Are you sure it was transmitting jpeg and not raw?
I know when I link it to my phone in my pocket or ipad in my backpack it's quick.
Maybe next time setup a wifi network?

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
I thought about getting one of those wifi cards and looked into the eyefi and transcend models. I read so many cons I just ended up getting a regular/fast 16GB SD. My MBP has an SD reader built-in so the only thing I'm losing out on are transfers to the phone - not a big deal for me.
