Not saying that makes it OK, just saying, we shouldn't expect anything better from them. They are like that.

Dunno if you saw but this week, they (along with Panasonic) announced another new disc format, for archival storage. It will have discs ranging from 300GB-1TB. It is intended for the pro broadcasting and media market, though.

One area where Fuji shows that they "get it" better than possibly any other camera maker in Asia, is with regard to firmware updates. Not only do they release regular updates for current models, to fix bugs and add features, but they even do it for older discontinued models. Some camera makers don't even bother with bug fixes, and if they do, it is often months after these are well known before they become available. Nicely done Fujifilm!
props to Fuji for the progress they've made with their X series

It and a Fujinon 35mm is a great set. If buying used, not a bad choice. If buying new, get the XT-1...

All of their lenses kick ass. Zooms are very good, but the primes kickass!!

They don't have 17mm, they have 14mm 2.8, 18mm 2.0, 23mm 1.4, 35mm 1.4 and 56mm 1.2. They also have a 27mm 2.8 pancake.

that's great. the Xpro1 is smaller (not as bulky) as the X-T1 right. I think I like the smaller form factor.

XT-1 is smaller, it's smaller than the XE-1, XE-2 as well.

The battery grip for the XT-1 is funny compared to the one's for DSLRs. Even with BG, it's light as shit. Been using a wrist strap, instead of camera strap with it.

The XT-1 is the closest that a mirrorless camera has come to a DSLR. I read many, that are dumping their full kits Canon or Nikon for them. And a lot of them are pros. I'm slowly selling my Nikon gear, picking up more and more Fuji.

This is a friend of mine that for the time being, has sat his Nikon aside. Not getting rid of Nikon, but giving it a winter rest.

http://tonysweet.com/2014/03/06/fuji...st-impression/

In the end, I'll be down to one Nikon body, D800e and about four Nikon lenses.

I've owned Fuji just about a year, and I'm pretty impressed. Once the 10-24mm hits in a week or so, I'll have more reason to shoot it.

pardon for butting in, but I have read the noise is quite nice, and film-like, a refreshing change from usual DSLR noise.

I also read there is almost no color noise.

It it was one bought when they were first released, I would push closer to $500.

One things with Fuji's files, the jpeg is usually better than the RAW files that most other cameras produce. Many just shoot jpeg with X cameras.

This is handheld ISO 6400

As well as this one.., this was processed a little heavier, but there is no noise to over process in it.

I wonder how the GX7 vs the x pro 1 fare up.

I really like the x-t1, but it's pretty pricey.

Dpreview has both available for pixel peeping. Looks like the x pro 1 is better from 400 on. 3200 to 25,600 there really isn't even a contest.

Keeping on the Fujifilm topic, I was talking to a friend and fellow photog that has been shooting with the X100S and really likes it. I held it and gotta admit I liked it. I'm not ditching the 7D, but I'm thinking about getting it as an alternative to have with me when out and about town.

Anyone here have one? Thoughts?

With switching bodies, seems that 32gb cards, won't be enough. Going to have to buy 64gb....

I've had a program running since late last year to pull the number of views/hr for my flickr account using the API... here's what the data for the past 3 months looks like:

There is some variance between weekdays and weekends, but not too much (both have a spike on the 1pm hour interestingly... so maybe best time to upload for most views is noon-1 Eastern).

I had a dream that Nikon phased away RAW format on all but its top models (D4S and D800)

wait, I don't think that was a dream..............

Beta was a superior format...but Sony didn't want to license it. They kept it in house while VHS had SEVERAL manufacturers and lower costs...the nail in the coffin for Beta was when porn chose VHS for distribution.

Betacam...the professional format remained industry standard behind the scenes for almost 20 years.

And I don't think Bluray threatened anyone. HDDVD was superior when it first came out, while BR was better on paper. I was in the HDDVD camp...but the PS3 proved to be a big ally of BR, and once codecs improved the superiority of BR finally came to the masses.

It doesn't help that Toshiba was one of the companies behind HD-DVD and they are run worse than any of the other tech companies out there.

My current sense of Sony is they 100 teams working on 100 projects with NO communication between them...And while Sony supports one product for a bit SQUIRREL they jump and start touting another before anything is ever fully baked.

It kills me because the A7/R are two very pertinent cameras...but support in the long term remains to be seen.

Sony is stretching themselves so thin...they need to group up get on the same page in company, and focus.

Yes, I know beta was better, but it wasn't popular for choices that Sony made. Hence a fail format for the customer market.

AFA BluRay, I remember reading a few many articles written that Sony used their leverage as a Movie Studio and Distributor, to push HDDVD to the wayside.

Sony camera, they make bodies, they don't make lenses. What is the main thing that people tell others to do when buying or upgrading camera equipment? Spend your money on glass, bodies are disposable in the digital age.

Well, they did what any smart company would have done...Sony bought Columbia, who had bought MGM...

SO, they own all the movies in the Sony/Columbia/MGM libraries...which isn't tiny. And of course they said we are only releasing these on BR. We would have all done the same thing.

But there were no threats or bullying...it basically made the other studios stand back look at who they were going to support. Some said both formats, some said HD-DVD, some said BR only...in the end the tide shifted and as BR gained traction (PS3, etc) the studios slowly changed to match. It didn't happen over night.

As far as cameras...Sony CAN make the lenses...what pisses me off is WHY don't they...Their excuses are lame.
