The exposure chart, the LR presets , the PP video...
you have all that "in the bag"?
I like seeing this stuff because it makes me want to take pictures and improve my skills. Just thought I would pass it along.
A Facebook acquaintance today, posted that they had sold an image. The saying that it is customers eye, and not the photographers eye, that sells and image is true.
It was a city scene image. I probably would have never taken the image. The photographer is pretty good, I'm not knocking them. But you can only sell what they like....no matter how well you do, to get a great image produced.

Starting to try to plan out what to bring on the honeymoon to Hawaii.
Taking the 40D and the Olympus XZ1.
Pretty sure I will stick the 17-55 on the 40D and not bring any other lenses, but I am looking for convincing. Also available are a 10-22, nifty50 and a 70-200 f4.

I realized after the first day that
1) The gear made it uncomfortable to lug around
2) It was of inconvenience at the beach trying to protect the gear from theft and sand
3) Ultimately I felt like I was there more to do photography than to enjoy a relaxing trip with my wife
I could have came back from my trip with hundreds of pictures. But I decided the trip was for the both of us and not for me to build my Flikr album.
This was my thought as well. Could I use the 70-200? SURE! do I want to lug it around, worry about it getting stolen, and slow the other half down changing lenses, etc? Nope. Not even bringing the 430EX.

anyone looking to get into strobist photography (portraits) especially if you don't really understand the principles of strobes, OR if you only shoot in TTL because you'd rather let the camera figure it out... I highly highly recommend this... I bought his 1st version and learned more from it than any workshop I've ever gone to... he's all about using one light (thus the name) but you can apply the basic principles to multiple lights too. If this is anything like the 1st version, definitely get it. Since it appears to be more content than the first version, I may get this one as well

from my understanding thou, its lower resolution images that are being allowed to embed for online use only.
if you want higher resolution and to print or use for commercial use, you still gotta pay?

that is all.
this story is being overblown everywhere - people just love piling on giants like Getty. nothing changed, aside from the fact that you can now pick an embed code from images, that lets you share them in this diminutive format:

Getty Embed Tool Already Subverted: You Can Crop Out the Credit Line
DL Cade · Mar 06, 2014
Getty’s embed tool has been live for less than 24 hours and ALREADY somebody has figured out how it can be taken advantage of. It turns out that all it takes is some extremely simple code to remove attribution entirely.
Pointed out to us by photographer Todd Owyoung, it seems photographer’s credit is ridiculously easy to crop out of the embed code. In fact, even the most novice of HTML users could make the adjustment in a matter of seconds.
All you have to do is shorten the height of the image without altering the width. Instead of resizing the whole thing, it crops from the bottom up. As such, the first thing to go is the credit. Here’s an example of credit slowly being cropped out as I change the height of this image (originally 540px) to 500px and then 460px.

Cool shots.
so, Getty axed their relationship with Flickr today. Everything remains the same for current Getty people, the thing that changes is Getty no longer looks on Flickr for images and images can't be submitted from Flickr. Images are now submitted via an app called "Moment".
I don't mind Moment - I got an invite several weeks ago to join it. My beef with it is that if I want to submit a photo taken with the SLR or edited in LR/PS, I have to move the photo to my phone and submit from there, which is retarded.
The State of the Camera Companies...

Which brings us to the questions — how much of this lens / camera model strategy was planned, and how much was rapid, almost panicky response to marketplace changes. Four lenses mounts? Really? A mount, DT mount, E mount and FE mount cameras, mirrored, translucent mirror, and mirrorless, all now sharing the Alpha brand name. Does this strike you as a coherent marketing and product plan, or has it been simply an ad hoc response to whatever seemed to be working at the moment?
Yes, even in the 70's with Beta tapes. Same would have happened with BluRay if they didn't threaten movie companies to get rid of HDDVD.

?

I see it fine.
