Any of you Canon guys familiar with the SX50? Some phenominal results with birding. Wondering if there are any other good uses....

I'll only use it for the higher volume weekly gigs. Where I need the speed moving from file to file, cropping, etc.

What I did for the 5D3 files from the weekend was convert to DNG with LR4, then I can add those files to LR3. That is not a big deal to me, given its an unattended copy process. LR3 feels about 5x more responsive than LR4 doing the things I need it to do (light editing). On LR4 sometimes even moving from photo to photo takes 4-6 seconds. Getting into the crop window can take as long as 7 seconds. When I have 400-600 photos to sort through and then I have to edit 200 or so on a weekly basis, add those seconds up. It ain't fun. With LR3 those are around 1 second, it feels about instantaneous.. I just tried it with some 5D3 DNG's. Now, it may be an issue with the # of photos in my database, there are a lot.

I have both installed currently, if I am doing precise work like HDR or architecture or photoshoot type stuff I'll use LR4 no problem. But for the higher volume things, LR3 it is.

I just want to clarify, this is something that's worked out for me; my workflow and personal preferences are definitely not the same as yours; this is just a story of mine. Don't take it any other way.

I have 4 camera bags of different sizes (3 Lowepros and 1 Kata), and I have one about this size. I pick what bag to use accordingly on where I'm going and what I plan on shooting that day. I can honestly say I have a use for every one of them. When I travel between Vancouver and SoCal, I have to admit, this big one like this is what I use. when it's fully packed, it can't even fit in the overhead compartment, and technically, it's bigger than what is allowed, but I've yet to be stopped by any airport security. It goes sort of under the seat in front of me. And yes, when fully loaded, it's pretty heavy.

I do the same thing with multiple bags depending on what/where I'm going

I use my large backpack as a travel pack, and like you said, its pretty heavy...hence my thoughts of going with a Pelican roller, that and I think the added security of the Pelicans strength would be nice

I wouldn't mind going that route, I just don't know if they will continue allowing me to take it on board since it's hard case (assuming it won't fit in the overhead compartment)

there is one that will fit in an overhead, any overflow can then go into the bag which goes under the seat.

I havent had to lug the big bag through the airport, I usually limit my gear when I travel....but if I was traveling like you I would take everything too. The roller would make life a lot easier for that.

I'm going back to SoCal later this month, but only for a week or so this time. I'm going to try my best to keep the gear to a minimal

For one thing, this time I'm not flying out of Vancouver, but taking a bus down to Seattle (and then returning to Seattle and then bus back to Vancouver)

promo code: 2505524955085

I tried it out quickly but couldn't find where to put the code maybe you'll have better luck.
