Shoot if I could get a copy at $40, I'd give it a try.
That 35mm sounds interesting too.

Photo lab just called, my first roll of film in over 20 years is ready to be picked up...
I have pretty low expectations. I refurbed the camera with yarn and Qtips.

damn - they are literally taking the D750's off of store shelves because of this flare issue. I haven't looked into it too much.
The Nikon D750 is Disappearing From Stores Shelves. A Quiet Recall is Underway
It appears that the Nikon’s response to the D750 flare issue is much more than an offer for a free repair. The camera is currently disappearing from stores, both online ones and brick-and-mortar ones, suggesting that some kind of recall or delay has been implemented while Nikon fixes the defect. [Update: We have confirmed that there is a recall.]
The camera has completely disappeared from Amazon search results:
Adorama and B&H both show the camera as being out of stock and backordered:
We have also been hearing reports from photographers in Japan that major camera stores in Tokyo no longer carry the D750 on their shelves. It appears to be “a factory recall” and the stores are saying the camera will be back in stock in about a month.
Over in the DPReview forums, photographers are confirming that many stores in Japan and in the US seem to be having their stock recalled.
We’ll update you if/when we hear more about this from Nikon and/or major camera stores.
<hr> Update: We have confirmed with a source that it is indeed a Nikon-issued recall that’s underway. We’ve updated the post title to reflect this.

So, there is going to be a ton of discount "refurb" D750s on the market shortly?

good to hear, I'd guess it's an overall "safeguard" approach being taken by Nikon

What camera did you use? I used an old Yashica Electro 35 GSN when I visited a radio telescope that didn't allow electronic devices in its vicinity a few months ago - when I got the shots back I was reminded about that unique film look that no filter can really replicate

It is. When shooting into the sun, or other intense light source, and you want the light just out of frame but you want the flare of the source in frame. Apparently an "un-flared" bar appears across the top of the frame interupting the flare from the light source.
That's what I think they are doing. I tried to replicate it last night in my house but couldn't. I'll try again if we ever get to see the sun again.

Not sure about where you are but I had a hell of a time finding a lab that did it in DC. And forget about 1-hour shops - I think those are extinct!

I just found a facility that rents darkroom time at $12/hour, so if I get ambitious, I can do it myself.
I remember your radio telescope shot and thought it was cool!
I am using a Nikkormat FtN with a 55mm Macro lens (my dad's) although I would love to pick up a 50mm or 35mm prime for it if I can find one for cheap.
When I got the camera, the leather case has crumbled around it, the light seals in the door were rotted and the foam mirror bumper was crumbled all over the shutter, mirror and interior.
A lot of black yarn (film door seal), some adhesive foam for the door latch and mirror bumper and a LOT of air and qtips and alcohol and the inside was cleaned up and now light leak free!

btw I'm happy to announce I'm getting into the video scene. I think it's about time, I am not sure why it took me this long to get interested in it.
I did some sample B&W videos just with the RX100 last week and was thrilled from the capability even there.

So after much paperwork and back and forths with a media company, I just finished signing the contract for my biggest photo sale yet! Three images, single print 20” x 38” editions to be displayed in the hallways of a hotel here in DC. Pretty exciting!

Hello,
I am seeking permission to use one of your photo's in a small carousel on the home page of a non-profit website. They are changing their name and wanted some images in the new header to represent the east bay. Such region specific imagery is difficult to find in stock photography so I am hoping you will consider this request. I am willing to negotiate reasonable terms if necessary.
The photo of yours I would like to use is of the new eastern span of the oakland-bay bridge.
Client's current site is:
Development site is:
This staging site was created to develop the animation for them and to select images for the carousel that they liked. It is not searchable or indexable anywhere and if you deny the request I will remove your image immediately and find another.
I can best be reached by email at or by phone at
I look forward to hearing from you!
Thank you for your time and consideration,

Well they don't offer money so I it's up to you on whether you feel OK giving it away or not. Check out their page and see if you agree with what they're doing, and if you do then consider it like a donation (not for tax purposes).
They will likely want to host the image themselves - don't give them a full-res photo. Also ask for a credit link that goes back to your flickr/website.
Usually if the non-profit is for things I don't support I either say no or ask for ridiculous sums of money. If they want to host a full-res image, or not give attribution, I usually also say no.

So...I'll open this up the brain trust here to get your impressions...
As you all probely know Nikon has recalled the D750 for a flare issue:

Well I asked friend of mine who also sent his D750 in. This is what he said"
I've sent them 2 more emails and "updated my question" on the Nikon site twice. I've heard nothing.
What am I left to think?
I'm so offing pissed i could kill!
