did a shoot tonight with a couple guys that are DJs locally... the photos would be for their social networking... but NOT so much headshots... but after cropping, this one can somewhat be a headshot

truthfully? this was really a test shot while the other DJ was changing... I guess they wanted ALL the shots to be with them two together, and no :ghey: between them. But the shirt he had on was a very fitted shirt... the problem with this pose with this hands tucked in his back pockets (my idea) pulled the shirt super tight, thus making it looked like he was wearing a VERY small shirt... I just rather not post/upload it because of that...

yeah, that was the reason why I decided to try cropping on that shot in the first place, and turned out to be a pretty good headshot. There was a "stylist" involved in this shoot... She's a friend of mine and was the one that organized this, and she didn't like it from the get-go, the pose was good, but the buttons bugged the hell out of her...

lighting looks good, angle and pose is good, although it looks like a shot for a clothing catalog. this could be good or bad - if they wanted that kind of look, good. I would never think that was a DJ.

nah... that wasn't the look they were going for, it was a test shot. But with the look they were looking for, they specifically said they didn't wanted that "DJ" look either... ...and yeah, we did jokingly said it looked like an ad for The Gap

I'm going to convert a lot of the stuff to B&W because the examples they showed me were mostly contrasty B&W.

if they weren't looking for DJ style shots then I think you're going in the right direction

yeah, they specifically said that... and not that I'm into "that" kind of music... I believe their style is... different? But whatever, I'm not going to get into that because I know you're a DJ and I'm going to get baited into that whole... "Oh yeah? Let's hear their stuff" thing. Just not the place for that lol

I post a lot of sunset shots to Flickr, but this one is a little different... it's shot with a Yashica rangefinder that's older than I am.

Portrait wise, its a good shot.

For something like this I would try and get more distance between your subject and the background and shoot more open to blur it out.

I might also light it (the backdrop) a little brighter...or if not brighter, than more even. Good use for a light meter

I normally spam my photos to get more exposure. The photo does fall into topic of each separate threads. If thats a problem you can delete them.
