So I went to Hawaii over the weekend and rented the metabones speedbooster so I could use my canon glass with my NEX-6.
Here's one of the long exposures I took with it using my 24-70 2.8 lens. It's a quick edit using the PS Express app on my iPad.

Pretty cool being able to shoot wide open at f2.0

Hmmm saw this pic on the computer last night. Not too bad for being edited on the iPad

Wasn't super happy with how this one turned out but oh well , I don't think I framed it high enough but still kind of a cool shot, was like a 5 hour drive to get there.

Living the Dream
There was a pretty nice thunderstorm just south of us last night. I was able to get some nice cloud shots that were backlit by in-cloud lightning.
We had clear skies at our house (I actually pre-focused on the moon for these shots).
Here are a few of my favs.

'08 MX5 GT 6spd.
I've never light painted a jet before...looks like I can cross that off my list.
We'll probably re-wrap every couple of months. Here is the initial wrap...had some fun with a torch and some alcohol. 1 Exposure for the fire, 1 for the cockpit lighting, 1 for the exterior lighting and 1 for the light painting.

The new wrap. I think I lit this one better as I had time to study my previous shots and figure out a better technique. Combination of 2 light painting passes and 2 speed lights.

Burning Brakes
So Friday night we had a huge Aurora spike, so decided to take the 6 hour drive again down to Crater lake. Unfortunately there is 2 wild fires burning in the national park there and as you can see along the horizon, the cloudiness is actually smoke from the fires.
Was hoping with this large Aurora spike to finally be able to see some dancing lights across the sky with the naked eye, but that didn't happen the camera was able to pick up some colors though so I was pleasantly surprised for that.
With it being this late in the summer season the Milky way was pretty much directly overhead and even shooting vertical @ 14mm I wasn't able to get the whole milky way and the lake in the shot so this is 2 9 shot panoramas stitched together so a total of 18 images lol. First time for me attempting something like this but was happy with the end result.
Canon 5D3
14mm @F/2.8
ISO 6400
25 sec each

I miss my 03 CL-S :(
I like that helicopter shot! We had an unusual amount of helicopter activity in DC this weekend. Unexpectedly, while shooting three that were buzzing my building, one broke off from the formation and started landing in a neighborhood athletic field...

A couple frame grabs from a short film I shot this past few days. Most of the short was shot on the Red Epic...these are from yesterday which was shot on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera.

Here are some frame grabs from the RED footage. None of this has been color timed. Its just Red Raw with a basic Red Gamma laid on top for a general idea. Also has the proper aspect ratio masking.
