Since you mentioned it, I guess Ill make public what I started to think about last night.
The FRS is $24,930 with destinaton less TTL
The BRZ Premium is expected to be between $500-1000 more then the FRS. The Limited is pegged at around $27k.
Both the Premium and Limited have navigation and HIDs - both things Id most likely install in the FRS. The Limited has keyless entry and push button start - cool, but not needed. Yet for some reason I want it. The seats on the Limited are nicer. The FRS seats are hideous. The interior in the BRZ, all in all, looks like a nicer place to be.
The BRZ has heated mirrors and seats, which doesnt matter to me since the car wont see anything below 50* - it'll be garaged in the winter months.
Im heading to the NYIAS next week while Im in NY. I hope both cars are available to sit in. Ill make my decision there.

Much to my surprise, the dealers here are selling the BRZ at MSRP (though that has yet to be announced - expected by the end of the week).
I was fully expecting the BRZ to sell at a premium at all dealers. But its only a (reported) handful around the country. FT86club.com has a small list of the dealers to stay away from.
Koby Subaru, Mobile, Alabama
Colonial Subaru, Feasterville, Pennsylvania
Subaru of Las Vegas, Nevada
Fitzgerald Auto Mall, Gaithersburg Maryland
Puente Hills Subaru, California
Hiley Subaru, Fort Worth Texas
Subaru of Cherry Hill, Cherry Hill New Jersey

Puente Hills Subaru....great my closest Subaru dealership. Makes sense though, there is quite a rice crowd in my area.

I think the mods need to start an FRS/BRZ sub forum. The people on the "real" forums are either childish or idiots.
And sometimes both.
And sometimes both.

Ive been a member on one of the more popular 86 forums and these are the things that most complain about:
-No trunk lid liner?
-Why no push button start on the FRS?
-2700lbs?? Too heavy!
-$25k?? Too expensive!
And I think the award for the most mind blowing, idiotic, rip-your-hair-out-its-so-amazingly-retarded goes to, and I quote:
"My main concern is the carcinogenic used motor oil getting on me. Is it worth being exposed to something like this to save a little money? And regarding mechanics messing up things: I think I'd rather have a busted up $25,000 FR-S/BRZ than have to deal with surgery/radiation/chemotherapy."
Yes, he seriously said doing oil changes will give him cancer.

smart, no point of changing up the dynamics without reaching its potential first. And I say tires should be next haha, seems like you can get much better tires once they first wear out.

I think Im going to. And Ill probably just lurk on the 86 forums like I have been for the past few months.
The stock wheels are 20.1lbs. There isnt much on the market in a 5x100 bolt pattern that appeals to me and is in the 15-16lb range.
The TCIIIs I want dont list a weight, and theyre only available as 18s. I think Id rather go with 17x9s all around with 245s.
Forgot to mention - found a dealer that still has preorders available for the BRZ. Theyre ~70 miles from me. The pricing is expected to be announced tomorrow, so Ill decide then what trim I want. Though I am leaning towards the Limited.
I still havent cancelled the FRS order either Im working in DC tonight and tomorrow, there is a dealer up there that has a BRZ so Im going to stop by and take a look at it

Its actually at Stohlmans Subaru in Tysons Corner (not quite DC, I know). The one they have is just there is a pre-prod model. Cant drive it, but you can sit in it. And its the Premium model, not the Limited. Itll be there the rest of the week. I plan on stopping by tomorrow in between jobs.
Ill be placing my pre-order at a different dealer though.

5x100 pcd? Would have thought they'd go for the more common 5x114.3. Guess Subaru decided that and not Toyota.

Yea, IIRC the WRXs use 5x100, only the STI uses 5x114. It uses a different wheel bearing as well.
Right now I have three possible options:
-Hub swap
-Custom wheels ($$$$$)
-Just wait for companies to release more in 5x100
Id prefer to swap hubs since used 5x114 wheels are easier to find and much cheaper.

I read somewhere if you want much wider wheels, you will need to have a staggered set up because at least this was for the BRZ that there is more room in the rear than the front and there isn't that much more room in the front. I forgot which review this was. I believe it was autoblog.

The brand new Imprezas and WRXs use 5x100. Just checked.
The STI uses 5x114.
RE: Front wheel width - There may not be tons of room inboard, but (based on pics) it looks like there is a good 10-15mm to play with between the stock wheel and the fender lip. The FRS and BRZ are the same.

I am excited for the new wonder twins, but this is what I wanted all along:
http://smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/n...407-1whni.html
Other companies are starting to take notice. I hope this isnt just talk, but I think the firesales of these two will definitely prove to the other manufacturers that the market is there and dying to be tapped, and I hope this motivates them to bring us more affordable, well sorted cars!

Lets imagine that Nissan builds a 250z in response to the BRZ-FT86... Honda sees the heavy sales and builds a new Prelude in response... Toyota not be taken lightly responds with the hotly anticipated Supra Revival...Honda follows up with S3000 coupe and convertible!
World explodes in happiness.

Okay guys...
Yesterday, I sat in the Subaru BRZ at the New York International Auto Show. My initial impression was... Wow. This is a tight vehicle. The front mounted, horizontally opposed boxer engine has a center of gravity below my knees (and I'm under 6 feet). The seat hugged me and the steering wheel felt right. The 6 speed MT has a relatively short throw, and the clutch feels properly weighted and balanced.
The interior design is rnothing special. Standard deviated red stitching looked cool, but a little gaudy on a WR Blue car. The standard touchscreen interactive navitainment system features standard bluetooth audio streaming, iPod , USB, and Auxilliary inputs, and decent sounding speakers.
The rear seats are totally useless. I could, MAYBE, fit a small child or a person with no legs in the back. This is my only observed downside to this vehicle.
Overall, I am so impressed with this vehicle that I have decided to make it my next, as opposed to my previous plans to purchase a 2012 STI. Honestly, check out this vehicle. You won't be disappointed.

At my best friend's insistence (given that he'd pondered it as a possible replacement for his RX8), I sat in the Scion version and noted that it feels remarkably similar to the MR-S Spyder.
Honestly, maybe it's my age showing but I really don't see much appeal. Although I haven't experienced any drive time, I can say that this thing peaks my interest far less than say a Genesis coupe.
But who knows; if these twins do well, maybe Honda will bring back the Prelude.......maybe even going longitudinal with the Civic RR's K20A (read: 240hp, 8,000rpm and RWD).

News stories are already popping up that a lot of subie dealers are tacking on $5k mark ups...which I called.
Scion will win the sales numbers if that continues. No mark ups allowed. The subie crowd is gonna be pisssssed.

Sat in both yesterday. BRZ ftw. Unless you just want to get the chassis for competition, then get the "stripped down" FRS.
The BRZ felt great though. The dealers near me are all selling at MSRP. One had three preorders available, only one spoken for. I have an OTD number in mind, if they dont meet it Ill walk. I dont need the car right now, I have no problem waiting.
But the prospect of Honda putting out a Prelude successor is very intriguing. Id love to see that come to fruition, especially if it were *gasp* RWD.
