Im waiting until tomorrow to see if they even offer me that trip out to Long Beach next weekend. I think its way too late to get me on that though, so Im going to call the number Toyota Corp gave me and see what they could do. If the TRD accessories make their way over here I wouldnt mind the lip kit at no cost
Im not holding my breath though since Toyota Corp is doing the whole trip thing while the kit would be a dealer or port installed part. But either way, I need to make it known to them that there needs to be some sort of incentive to make me buy this car right now if Im losing out on the other First 86 perks. And who knows if the first 86 cars will even have some sort of plaque other then a low VIN

HKS supercharger - rumor is it put down 250ps (~245hp) at the wheels, 78ps over stock.
And Toyota/Subaru said there was no room in the engine bay

Morgan you're going to have to sell the CL so you can do all of this shit to the Scion
#813
My first Avatar....
1. How low the engine sat in the car to lower its center of gravity and'
2. How the engine bay looked so empty because of the small size of the engine.
Hope everything works out with your new car!

Goodbye.
C'mon guys, we all knew that Toyota/Subaru said there was no room because they wanted to sell this model first.
If they said when launching this car with this engine that they designed the bay and hood to accommodate a big turbo/supercharger and a V8, then everyone wouldn't buy this car and wait for the next one.
It's all about progression and future offerings.

I found a set of wheels I want, and they cost nearly as much as the engine that was going into my Civic

Dont know how I missed this one :
Thats Ken Gushis drift FRS. If that intercooler can fit like that, theres tons of room.
I may hold off doing any sort of boost and just shove a V8 in there a few years down the road

Boxer engines can sit lower in the engine bay by design... they can also sit further back.

Yea, I was still amazed by the ample space between the engine and the radiator.

Goodbye.
Hmm that brings up a good point of the weight ratio once you start putting stuff in front of the boxer engine...
I think the eventual turbo with intercooler on top subbie style will be the most efficient

Some cool conjecture/pics at the link. Some of the comments are interesting, too...such as TRD already having a tuned FR-S (on youtube, supposedly).

^^Most likely. As it is the weight distribution is 53/47 f/r (for steering feel). Putting a s/c'er or turbo up front will add 60-100lbs, depending on whats used.
Regardless, a turbo on low boost would probably make around 300hp. Even if the car weighs 2850lbs with it, thats 9.5lbs per horsepower
To put that into perspective:
'98 Supra Turbo is 10.9lbs/hp
'05 NSX is 10.8lbs/hp
'12 370Z is 9.7lbs/hp (this one actually surprised me)
'12 Evo MR is 12.27lbs/hp
With tall gearing (it hits 60 right at the top of second), its begging for boost. To put it simply, Im salivating over the prospect of adding this car to my garage.

Morgan go ahead and order a V8. Don't waste your time with pouring money into the stock engine

lol put a V8 and you're gonna have to change everything else in the car to withstand the power!
And as for the supercharger, I think the problem is that it does add weight way near the nose and dont think that a ltl bit of difference doesnt make a difference.
I was reading the autoblog's thing between the 328i and 335i, now that the 328i has more power, according to them it drives better to the 335i and closely matches it on the track. They would pick a current 328i over the 335i

^a shame cause the new 3-series has one ugly front end. It's like a butterface... dunno what BMW was thinking there. and I suspect the 328i matching the 335i has everything to do with chassis and suspension.
meh, if it's not an M, don't care. BMWs are overpriced anyway, if I want to shell out that much I might as well get an M3. and at that point I'd rather get a similarly performing stock Mustang 5.0
much rather have the FR-S or especially the BRZ over a lowly 3-series, especially if I'm the one writing the checks.

The only way Id get the s/c'er is if the power gain massively outweighed the weight gained, which is highly unlikely. Its the same reason I never went with a s/c'er on the CL. Thats a solid 80lbs right at the nose of the car.

Im typically not a car snob (or at least I try not to be), but theres just something about saying "I own a 328i" that just sounds.........bad.

tis easy. With enough practice, it becomes second nature just like clutch in - shift - clutch out.
Not entirely necessary, but it's better than not doing so and not to mention, it's fun! I love kicking it down without my whole body lurching forward. The sound a car makes while it's winding down....
Eventually, you will learn to double-clutch + heel-toe as well. No other way I'd attempt to shift into 1st at 30 mph. But that lovely noise it makes when you pull it off...... :jizz: plus it feels cool having the car basically stop itself.

Initial D is where I learned to turn off my headlights in heavy traffic...

I bet 75% of the BRZ and FR-S models will turn out to look like this:
It's a chop but still. I would rather see these cars go fast than "low 'n slow"

You will see that almost immediately as soon as the first round of 3-year leases are up and the car starts to become affordable.
Its taken a while, but someone finally put hood vents on the 2G TSX, and weve been flooded with new members who all havent been uh...very tasteful to say the least.
I now feel some of the 3G TL forums pain.
