I need to add my as I haven't posted in this thread yet. I'm very excited about the Toyota 86. I particularly like the Subaru BR-Z version they're bringing stateside. It's cheap, small, light, RWD, and the engine isn't overkill. I think it's absolutely great. It's the first affordable car I've been excited about in quite a while.

I saw it (the BRZ) in person at the DC Auto show. It looks really cheap.

A Scion TC actually looks nicer. Really disappointing.

Subaru customers would be put off if it wasn't cheap-looking on the inside.

^ That's an awesome edition btw. It's supposed to be fairly cheap too. Didn't Honda announce this type of edition for the new Si?

I think Honda announced a pure chassis with nothing on it.

I think it's unbelievably ugly but that's not the point of the car.

I might remind you, yet again, that had they built this car, I would have test driven it on the first day it was there:

What they built was nothing short of a BS bait-and-switch.

I hated the production version when it first came out. But then it has grown on me a lot, especially the BRZ version. I've seen the video reviews of it, and I'm pretty excited about the car. It doesn't matter if it comes with the turbo or not. The car is positioned more like a Miata Coupe, which is an awesome position to be in.

Apparently the Subaru version is supposed to be the more upscale one of the two.

Toyota and Subaru are going to sell SO MANY of these cars. The aftermarket support is going to be off the chart.

I think toyota will sell a lot because they're targeting low 20's i think.

Subaru on the other hand won't because they're expecting a little above mid 20s.

I havent payed attention to rumors lately, but as of about a month ago they were pegging the Scion at $24k and the Subbie at ~$28k. Overseas, taking into account exchange rates, the Toyota version is in the $30k range.

Also remember that Toyota forced every single Scion dealer into a set price for every car sold, they cannot mark up the cars or they run the risk of losing their dealership licensing.

Add me to the list of people who feel the same as well. That concept was SHARP; the production car...less so.

but people act like it should look exactly like the concept!! I know some recent concepts have been like that, then again those weren't particularly good concepts! NOne that I recall at least.

Next thing you know people will complain about the BMW i8 not being exactly like the concept

I for one had no expectations that the production model would look anything like the original concept after seeing how the LF-A concepts progressed. Although I do actually like the production GT 86 quite a bit.

I'm not asking for a glass roof or LED headlights or the all-leather interior with the zipper where you insert a CD.

I'm talking about the shape of the front bumper or the tail lights, or the shape of the trunk lip. There's no reason why they couldn't have kept those things closer to the concept.

yea maybe i exaggerated a lot. Of course I know you weren't talking about that stuff. Its the things like the bumper that has to change. As for the tailights, those could have been carried over.

Car bumpers have certain regulations they must follow, maybe or maybe not it didnt meet those.

Anyway looks are subjective so to each his own, i like it, the exterior that is.

Kinda disappointed with the interior.

It is a car made for performance and yet all you people care about is styling. If styling is your main concern why are you on an Acura forum. Acura styling is horrible.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN....YOU PEOPLE??????

I still think the speed3 is better and looks like it will be coming in cheaper as well.

And, aesthetically speaking, the car has changed quite a bit from the concept (which should be expected to some degree). I don't like the changes made to the head lights and I never have liked the ass end of this mutant.

Sure, acura forum, but "automotive news" sub-forum.

I agree with others, this car will have immense aftermarket support. Hopefully the 17 yr old's who talk their parents into letting them have a scion understand the different driving dynamic of a rwd vehicle...hopefully.

Hes right. Lets never criticize styling again.

This is after all Acurazine, and not Stylingzine.

Probably, but these are cars that are/will be mostly owned by the tuner crowd. MS3s can be quick with the right mods, but its still FWD. The FRS/BRZ has a better chassis to cope with added power.

I guess it all depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to leave it stock, then get the MS3. But if you want to make real power, asking the front wheels to turn and put the power to the ground isnt the answer.
