I'll admit, some of those pics make the car look hawt

The exhaust on the first red one looks pretty sweet integrated into the rear like that.

Not too sure about the STi-ish wing on that one

What's up with the :ghey: sticker on the second red car?

I'll admit, the first red one rustled one hair on my arm. Think it was because of the aftermarket exhaust, being lowered and the wheels. The rest are fugly as hell and look like tanks.

ALL British mag tests have been done with customer cars since the GT-R was not avaialble there at the time. Edmunds' first test with a 0-60 of 3.3 seconds and 1/4 in 11s was done with a customer car in Tokyo.

Not sure what the heck your talking about on both counts. Never claimed I had driven the car, and not sure what price has to do with 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. I don't care if the car won or lost a comparo - just pointing out that the numbers its posting are hardly fake giving that
- lots of testers have achieved these times
- a large number of these times were achieved with customer cars (i.e. not pre-production protos)

saw the laptime, and read the comparo. Hardly conclusive, especially when C&D themselves said that this particular GT-R they had was 'crippled' in some way or the other.

I'm not debating the numbers but you said C&D or R&T was insane for choosing the M3 over the 911TT. I'm a Porschephile through and through but you call out people for saying the GT-R has no soul (which I've yet to read from anyone aside from magazine editors) without even driving one, so I asked you if you've driven the M3 and 911TT, since C&D supposedly made such an outlandish claim. I guess you kinda made a tongue-in-cheek comment and it went over my head, and I did the same.

I haven't driven either one either, so I haven't the slightest clue really between those 2 cars.

I don't read British magazines. I am concerned with US spec cars that we see here in the mainland. The US mags were using pre-production cars.

The GTR better run 11's with close to 550hp and AWD

In the end, the GTR is a great car. It's just not god's chariot like the fanboys make it out to be. I am eagerly awaiting the next gen Porsche and Vette's. These street cars are getting to the point that they are too fast to be tested at the Ring. Walther Rohrl stated this in an interview regarding the Carrera GT.

Though I'm not a fan of the car, it would be cool to have the first U.S. GT-R
(Sorry no access to image sharing sites at work. Pics at link.)
http://www.automobilemag.com/feature...ery/index.html

We're used to movie, video game, and book releases occurring at midnight, but a new-car delivery? Daryl Alison of Costa Mesa, California, was handed the keys to his black 2009 GT-R at 12:01 am Pacific on July 7, 2008, the first official day of GT-R sales.

Alison is the first U.S. customer to take delivery of Nissan's twin-turbo V-6 sports coupe. The ceremony took place at Universal City Nissan in Los Angeles, one of a select few GT-R Certified Nissan stores in the country.

As of the first day of sales, more than 1700 U.S.-bound GT-Rs have been spoken for, or about 70 percent of cars allocated for the country, so it's not too late to get in line.

Steve Millen answers Skeptics on GT-R

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/S...GTR_170353.htm

Poor audio quality but still bearable

Cliffnote:
- A GT-R is easy to drive fast at 80% to 90%. But at 100% it is just as tricky as any other car.
- The GT-R IS capable of 7:29 on the N'ring without a doubt
- In an upcoming GT-R comparo in Road and Track, the GT-R reportedly bests the 911 GT2 around Buttonwillow!

I take anything Steve Millen says about Nissan with a grain of salt. His business is tuning Nissan's and he has been afiliated with Nissan in the past. Also, this is coming from a guy who drove faster around BW in a C6 with Active Handing ON!

- Many drivers have commented that a Z06 is faster on track with the Active Handling set to competition mode. I've driven a Z06 on the track and I'd have to agree. I drove a session with it on and a session with it off, and the car, whilst more fun with it off, is slower.

- Please don't start questioning the driving abilities of a guy who is the most winningest driver in IMSA history.

- Steve Millen was a factory driver for GM. And for Porsche. And for a bunch of other car companies. Questioning his "affliations" is childish.

Any more excuses?

That's odd because the professional instructor (pro driver as well) I know turns the active handling OFF. The test I was referring to was a standard C6 BTW. You can read the article:
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....page_number=10

How do you explain C&D's editors wringing a faster time out of the Z06 than Steve Millen, who is the "winningest driver in IMSA history"? That makes no sense to me. I've seen what a pro driver can do and what a well know pro driver can do on the race track. The diference in lap times is pretty amazing considering that they both have amazing car control abilities.

I'd love to see Lou Gigliotti/Ron Fellows driving the Vette and a Porsche factory (Walter Rohrl) driver testing the Porsche. Then let's see which car is the fastest when you have the best drivers matched to their respective vehicles.

Lastly, why do all you fanboys get your panties in a bunch when someone questions the GT-R? It's a great car, but it certainly isn't perfect.

There is no evidence to the contrary that C&D didn't use a pro driver, and if your that familiar with road racing, then I'm sure you know that on a different day with a different driver with a different car there will always be some variation.

The last time Walter Rohrl got behind the wheel of a GT2, and Jan M got behind the wheel of a Z06, and Toshio Suzuki got behind the wheel of a GT-R they laid down 7:43, 7:32, and 7:29 on the N'ring.

Your right, the GT-R is a great car - lets give it due credit. The "its boring to drive" and "its ugly" and "its pre-production" are getting old. And as flattered as I am to be called a fanboi I'm sadly not - I would much rather have an R8 or a GT3 as my next purchase. Maybe driving a GT-R will change my mind.

C&D usually states that they used a pro driver, given previous tests that I've read. Assuming that they didn't, don't you find the numbers fishy? Millen (a pro), should have been seconds faster than magazine writers. Instead, the mag writers were faster around the same track. I am not sure what conditions were, but as you mentioned they make a difference.

The Ring times are obviously not a good comparison. I still feel that Nissan provided a ringer. Like I mentioned, I'd love to see an independent run of the GTR at the ring. So far, there has been none. Hell I'd love to see all cars run by witnesses to make sure they are showroom stock.

I think Nissan hit a home-run in terms of performance. Sorry, the GT-R is ugly in my humble opinion. Chevy and Porsche will have their answers to the GT-R shortly. Everyone forgets that Nissan had many years to watch the competition. Chevy and Porsche have had their respective models in market for a few years.

Ok fine. I now have total respect for the GTR in terms of performance and price.

don't know if you guys noticed, but the wheels are the silver alloy ones.. so I assume they are using the all season run flats on the track!

Ah, I was under the impression that:

gunmetal rims= summer only tires
silver alloy= all season run flats

if only this would change the ways of ferrari/porsche/lambo and either make them increase there speed or decrease price to compete.

Guys at Top Gear CRASH the GTR

Top Gear Magazine was recently having some fun on the Isle of Man with a Nissan GT-R, but the playtime ended unexpectedly when the driver of the GT-R slammed on the brakes. That would be fine in any normal car, but Godzilla came to a halt so abruptly that the Audi R8 behind it just couldn't stop quickly enough.

hmm...should have followed the rules of 2-3 secs behind a car rule..or the R8 doesn't have very powerful brakes.

makes you think you should be a bit careful driving a GTR around daily...

if you ever brake hard to avoid an accident, odds are you will end up getting rear ended...
