It's such an imposing shape, with some really unique design cues, that I can't help but stare at it

Nissan DEFINITELY has that GT-R dialed in. I cannot imagine how much further the bar will be raised with a Spec V model.

I don't trust any Japanese reviews of the GT-R.

There hasn't been much (if any) talk about it here - but C&D raced a GT-R in this year's One Lap of America. They said the car is as good (and fast) as its claimed to be, at tracks with long straights and fast corners. Tracks with slow-speed corners or autocross-type setups are the car's weakness, due to its woolly-toothed mammoth weight. They couldn't run the launch control at the dragstrip because it causes creeping and therefore trips the lights - without it, the car does a 12.8. They came in 11th overall due to a DNF at the autocross event, because the driver didn't know where the course was (this is the main reason why autocross sucks, imo). The modified 2001 911 Turbo won again, for the 5th year in a row.

It's a good read, check it out here.

also check the pics:

Another win for the GT-R. The write up on the Evo surprised me, though...the "gripes" can be fixed with a few easy mods.

@ Chevy and Dodge not loaning out one of their cars to Edmunds. I'd still take a Z06, SRT-10 or a pristine R34 GTR over the GT-R regardless of the outcome. I haven't visited this thread in over a month and a half despite all the news about the GT-R. It just doesn't stir your soul, as a member put it. It hasn't grown on me still, and if I wanted a car to drive daily and tool around with it just wouldn't be my first choice despite all the bang-for-your-buck it has. It just doesn't take my breath away, and thats that.

You got to test drive a GT-R already? How was it compared to your test drive of the Z06 or even a R34 GTR? Where did you go to get all these test drives? It must've been extensive test drives too considering you have enough wheel time to claim it doesn't "stir your soul", unlike all the other cars you must've driven and referred to.

I'm sure you've driven them all too

I was simply referring to their looks and the RWD, as far as 'tooling around town'. As far as stirring my soul, when I see an R8 on the road or in pictures it makes my eyes permanently affixed to it and makes me drive erratically. When I see a GT-R it makes me wince. Not once did I ever refer to the driving experience as being boring or, hell, even mentioned it at all. Funny that this post is from an Infiniti owner and stalwart defender of.

I apologize for not having a raging hard-on for the GT-R like everyone else.

all i know is that oil change on the gt-r will cost you about US$1,200. that's from a factory trained nissan tech. should you blow your motor, the long block will cost you a cool US$35,000. holy catfish is that expensive!

If you look closely at the pic of the guy driving it off the barge, you will notice he is yawning because the GT-R is such a bore to drive.

^^ well you just push the "disembark" button and sit back - the GTR takes care of the rest.
