if the damn thing didn't weigh 4000 lbs you wouldn't need to have launch control on an ALL WHEEL DRIVE car with 480hp...

It's an affordable JDM Bugatti Veyron on a budget. A monster in a straight line, fights gravity and physics with electronics and uses a big motor to haul ass.

I like the Veyron though.

Sorry but the posting of GT-R fanboys on autoblog were way more rampant than any Z06, ZR1 or Viper ACR fanboys. So I'll be enjoying this very much.....

x2. Notice how quiet all the fanbois from the "911 turbo vs. gtr" thread are now?

Track times don't mean sh-t with a $20K blown tranny. My profound enjoyment continues...

yeah. I also really loved the lateral acceleration test.. damn that ZR-1 is WICKED. I mean, braking, yes it has monster brakes, not surprising. Acceleration, again given the power, not surprising. But, for them to also nail the handling part to the tune of 1.06 g's and 74.7 mph in the slalom.. that is just awesome.

I do have to give the GT-R credit though. It made everyone else stand up and take notice, and feel the need to really push it with their next offerings. I don't think the ZR-1 would have been this good if it weren't for the existence of the GT-R. 11.5 @ 128? nuts. Same goes for cars other high-end supercars which have emerged since the GT-R's buzz started.

2010 Nissan GT-R Spec-V coming Janaury 8th, full specifications leaked

According to GTR-World and the GTRBlog, engine output remains at 485 PS (just over 478 hp), the same as the Series II GT-R and possibly putting to rest rumors that the Spec-V would be packing between 520 and 550 hp. The transmission mode select button has been removed, supposedly meaning that "Race" is the only setting available. However, an "overboost" button is included in the package that increases mid-range boost pressure for overtaking maneuvers.

Carbon ceramic brakes will be hidden behind Rays 20-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in no-cost Dunlop tires, and the suspension is comprised of a retuned Bilstein Damptronic setup that is supposedly superior to the NISMO ClubSport package already offered.

The omnipresent weight issue has been (somewhat) addressed with the replacement of the back seats with a carbon fiber shelf, along with carbon fiber front thrones, front grille, rear wing and brake ducts on the front lip spoiler. More of the exotic weave can be found surrounding the IP and mirror switches, chrome replaces anything painted silver and black will be the only available interior color. A Thatchan alarm system, Electronic Toll Card system (ETC) and a Bose stereo are all optional, and a new color – Ultimate Black Pearl, a deep purple/black hue – is available for an additional 577,500 yen. All the other colors currently available to GT-R buyers will also be offered and pricing is supposedly set at 15,750,000 yen (base) and 16,978,000 yen with all the extras.

While anything offered from the factory has the weight of the Nissan/NISMO engineering team behind it, we're surprised by the limited diet and complete lack of power mods (Nissan couldn't uncork the exhaust and raise the boost a bit?). Until we get official word from Nissan (Tokyo Auto Salon?), we're skeptical that this is the final spec sheet. Hopefully, we'll know soon enough. But in the meantime, color us less than impressed.

hey I didn't see the warranty coming into play at all in this thread.

and yeah, why so fugly? can't they make the car not look like something only a terminator could love. How about a car, that's all one color, or at least only two. we appear to now have three with carbon fiber added, which is good, but doesn't look too good.

No it will lap the Nring in a minute and fly you to the moon afterwards. Freakin' nissan totally BS GTR's ring time. The one that ran 7:29, had a stripped interior, r coumound tires, was running on 103 octane racing gas, had a suspension setup just for that ring, and was running a modified engine with almost 600 hp. It can be found on the internet for those who dont beleive this. The ZR1 fully stock on runflats did it in 7:26 and then with a Jan Magnussen driving managed to shave off 4 seconds putting it at 7:22, that can also be proved. A regular Zo6 is faster than a gtr around the ring, i will be surprised if this thing fat ass goes under 7:40.

153K hell, the NSX with it's v10 is a better option, or better yet a spoon NSX-R which isn't a pig...

the sad thing is nissan will be making tons of money off the V-spec, the carbon goodies add up to maybe 10K, the seats are 10K (going of the NSX-R Carbon Kelevar Seats) and then adding chrome here and there + the addition of an over boost button, 5K. Total additon, 25K. GTR's are 75K, so add 25 and you get 100K. That means 53K profit margin!

with 53K, sell 10 of these and BAM, there's your R and D cost.

it doesn't have to be BS, the Z06 is lighter than the GT-R and has a HP advantage over the GT-R. But Weight and power isn't everything, you have to factor in suspension, driving dynamics, gearing, power band, weight distribution, tires, driver, etc.

ZO6 had a messy lap time of 7:42:9. GTR RACE CAR did it in 7:29. Every other source that took the car to the ring couldnt break past 7:50s. Dont let the supped-up press cars fool you. Its a 3800 pound car with 480 through awd, which loses a lot of power. The vette murders it in the acceleration department (or anything short of slr, enzo, etc) wieghs 700 pounds less, fatter tires, better gearing, better aero. The zo6 has crazy potential that nobody short of a pro race car driver could only extract. I can happen. And the zr1, beats everything except the viper acr, which in totally different class, no a/c, radio, racing tires, 2k pounds of downforce. I consider the acr a race car. Its the only car that has beaten the zr1 around the ring (by .20 seconds). AND ITS A RACE CAR!

I still think they're stupid for not badging the GTR under the Infiniti name in N/A Put a shiny analog clock in the dash and call it a day...a $150k supercar for Infiniti would've really done their premium line wonders IMO
