meh. i was hoping to be excited for the Spec V. i guess its just another get money quick scam by adding little things here and there but it's not that much better than the base model..

they're charging their customers the price of nearly two base GT-R's for the spec V!

one of the biggest original appeals about the V-spec was that it would have a MT. so much for that.

ohyeah.. i forgot about that..

whatever happened to that MT option that was supposed to appear for the other trims.
i remember reading this back a few years ago, there was supposed to be another trim called the GTR EVO? with all the cf trimmings like the Spec-V but with a manual option and fully stripped out, race track form?

if that's still coming out for production, than i'll show nissan some support. if not, nissan and the GTR, GTFO!

^^I'll disagree. This car is aimed at the "ricers with money" that know what the Nissan GT-R (or is it GTR?) is all about.
I would think that it wouldn't sell as well with the Infiniti badge.

P.S. Saw one in person for the first time the other day, it's not as ugly in person as it is in pictures...ugly just not as ugly.

Why isn't this in the GT-R thread?

Saw this on InsideLine yesterday...nothing changed after sleeping on it, I'm still underwhelmed. The car is less ugly in person, but as cmschmie said, it's still ugly. That aside, for $150k, I'd buy a Porsche...hell, I'd buy a ZR1 and have $50k left to wipe my ass with.

still the biggest disappointment ever. little cf here and there is not going to save it, nor make it actually cost twice the amount of the base GTR.

let's wait till the N time comes out, this time comfirmed by other professional drivers then we can judge whether it deserves that price tag.

hope nissan will not rig the time.

nissan never rigged their time....

porsche just drove the gtr with the potenza's on it instead of using the dunlop tire option, which nissan used to achieve their claimed time.

I personally like the GT-R but I sure as hell wouldn't pay 150K for one. I rather have another used exotic.

does anyone remember this when they first announced the release of the GTR in US??

this was reported in august last year
GT-R lifts a wheel at Nürburgring

After six long years since the Nissan GTR Concept was first unveiled in October 2001, the wait is now only months away, with the public and market debut at the Tokyo Motor show this October. Production is set to commence immediately after its debut with first Japanese deliveries occurring simultaneously throughout the winter. Sales in the U.S. and Canada are set to start in the Spring of 2008.

The GTR is expected to be available in three different model levels. Despite our previous reports of a 4.5 liter V8 engine delivering 450hp, it is now commonly known that it will be a 480hp twin-turbo V6 engine in the standard base GTR as well as the middle level GTR V-Spec. They will be priced at roughly $57,000 and $67,000 respectively. The range topping EVO version with the same VQHRTT engine as the standard and V-Spec models gets a power increase up to 530hp while losing 220 lbs. from the body for an unbelievably inexpensive price of $94,000.

Seen here are the latest wheel-lifting photos of the GTR testing at Germany's Nürburgring.
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=117104

Base GTR (480hp)
$57,000

GTR Spec-V (480hp)
$67,000

GTR EVO (530hp, 220lbs lighter)
$94,000

which are all false now pretty much. they had really high hopes for this tihng.. and for the top of the line model to cost less than $100,000.. and now the Spec V already costs nearly triple what they predicted the base GTR was going to be.

What don't Nissan let aftermarket tuners do some work on this car? As of now, the car is designed so that you can't tune it. If Nissan allows for tuning, who knows what beast can be made.

I worked on a broken tranny GT-R yesterday. The car has pretty much lost all appeal to me. The owner was completely disenchanted with it. He's fighting Nissan Canada now to pay for the replacement tranny. It's already in, just fighting over the bill. $26k CAD. :/

i agree weight and power arnt everything. seriously, i am a corvette guy by far. love the damn thing, aim to buy one eventually. but i keep reading that the reason why z06s have messy lap times to begin with is because its hard to drive. and thats why i think the gtr (well) falsely did better, but can do better stock against a zo6 on a track such as the Nub.

Post SpecV Revealed...

Press release...

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a new limited-production Nissan GT-R SpecV model, which goes on sale at seven specially selected Nissan dealers throughout Japan on February 2, 2009. The GT-R SpecV is targeted specifically at enthusiast drivers who desire race car-level performance in a street-legal vehicle.
NISSAN GT-R SpecV

NISSAN GT-R SpecV

Developed around the multi-dimensional Nissan GT-R sports car, which was introduced just more than one year ago to universal global acclaim, the new SpecV model builds on the original's "ultimate supercar that anyone can enjoy driving anywhere, at anytime" philosophy - taking it to an entirely new level of "oneness between man and machine." The SpecV model includes unique body, interior and performance equipment and modifications, raising the GT-R's unmatched performance to even higher levels.

The GT-R SpecV's new exterior features include a carbon fiber rear spoiler, a carbon fiber grille, and carbon fiber brake ducts. The SpecV is available exclusively in Ultimate Black Opal (RP) body color. Inside, the SpecV's unique two-seat interior (non-SpecV GT-R models also include a two-place rear seat) offers special Recaro carbon fiber bucket seats, while carbon fiber insets embellish the rear center storage box, instrument panel and other trim areas.

Performance is enhanced with a new high gear boost control device, which momentarily increases boost of the engine's twin turbochargers for greater torque in the intermediate-to-high speed ranges to provide a more powerful feeling of acceleration, while also allowing the engine to operate at a lower speed for improved fuel economy. Other modifications include a titanium-coated exhaust system and carbon-ceramic brakes that provide powerful stopping performance.

The GT-R SpecV is also equipped with lightweight, racing-style forged aluminum wheels that were developed for this model and have been sold by Nissan Motorsports International (NISMO) since September 2008. The lighter unsprung weight provided by the new wheels, together with the enhanced braking capability, an exclusive suspension and high-grip tires, combine to deliver the SpecV's exceptional performance.

The SpecV will be sold at the following seven dealer outlets, each of which is staffed by mechanics with special GT-R SpecV training and who are knowledgeable of racing circuit driving.

Dealer outlets selling the SpecV
Ibaraki Nissan Sales Co., Ltd. Mito Sennami Outlet
Nissan Prince Tokyo Sales Co., Ltd. Kamedo Outlet
Nissan Prince Nagoya Sales Co., Ltd. Fukiage Outlet
Nissan Prince Osaka Sales Co., Ltd. Horie Kawaguchi Outlet
Nissan Prince Hyogo Sales Co., Ltd. Nada Outlet
Nissan Prince Kagawa Sales Co., Ltd. Takamatsu Outlet
Yamaguchi Nissan Sales Co., Ltd. Ogori Interchange Outlet

Suggested nationwide retail price (including consumption tax) 15,750,000 yen

If anything, they should have switched exhausts between the two models. This looks toned down/stupid.
