It kinda is what it is, but it's still a bit lighter than the G37, and right there with the BMW 1-series weight-wise...
I'm interested to see if a lightweight tuner version of the turbo 4 will be available...
Make mine a black GS w/ HID's, brembos, LSD and no sunroof...

The new two-door model from Hyundai will feature a direct-injection 2.0-liter turbo'd motor (co-developed by Hyundai, Chrysler and Mitsubishi), sending power to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual, supposedly with an optional LSD and the possibility of more factory-produced go-fast bits on the way.

Saw it at the NYAS. When Hyundai says this thing is bigger than a 7-series, I'm not sure if they're talking about the exterior dimensions, or if they're talking about a regular wheelbase 7-series. Cause when the turn table spun to show the interior, the rear seat legroom definitely does not beat the long wheelbase 7-series. But it might exceed a regular wheelbase 7-series. Either way, it's big, but just calling out the details.
Overall this car, as generic as it is, was stunning. The details made it look expensive. There are circular foglights, but instead of just being exposed like most, they're housed inside lenses just like headlights. The LED rear lights were very classy.
It was sad to walk over to the Acura display, cuz this thing simply outclasses the new RL in terms of looks. The new RL, with the grey "metal" details instead of chrome, really looked like another TL. It did not look like the flagship model at all. But the interior did look great now that they added wood to the center console. Hell I thought the old RL (which they also had on display) looked classier.

Makes total sense for hyundai to use that then...

I'm very curious as to what the pricing will look like for a top of the line SE V6. Can they get away with charging $35k+? (The 135i I want would sticker at ~$38k BTW.)
This car would have to be priced ulta competitive for a guy like me to go from desiring that new Bimmer to wanting a new Hyundai.

this will be priced $29k ish with everything on it.
how to buy a hyundai
1. go to a hyundai dealer where there's are tons of cars on the lot.
2. make sure to buy during 'slow' season where they offer 2000 rebates and so on.
3. you go in there and lowball da shit out of the salesman. threaten him to buy a honyota.
i just bought a new 2008 santa fe SE for for $22.2k OTD and the sticker was $26500.

I'm Down Right Fierce!
Wow, seems like lots of people are interested in the I4 version.
Anyone else interested in the 3.8L V6 version like me?
I know what savings is key for drivability, but 100lbs for a NA 3.8L (pumping out 306 HP)seems like a worthy sacrifice IMO, over the 2.0t rated at 212 HP.
Not to mention, I'm already a thin guy at 5'11 weighing only 145 lbs.

I know Hyundai is trying to "upscale" the brand with the RWD offerings, but Hyundai has always been about value...
I would think the top of the line Hyundai Genesis Coupe has to be priced below the $30K 128...
Rumors of pricing (see page 4 in this thread) echo that sentiment...
I'll be interested in seeing how the resale value of the lower end offerings (128 and SE turbo 4) do... It's going to be interesting when all these cheap RWD coupes hit the used car market in a few years...

That was uncalled for...
It makes me so happy to see such a nice car come from Hyundai... it really does...
Those pictures that yohan posted show what the car will look like in person. I love it

This thing looked just as good in person as it does in photos. The headlights were nice. Doesn't quite have the intricate detailing found in the headlights of the G35/37, but still far better than the cheap looking housing from the newer Acuras.

I'm loving the potential of this car, however the one gripe I have so far is the front end. The rear, and sides look gorgeous, but the front is a let down to me. The tiny grill opening and the bottom of the front just looks awkward to me, and doesn't flow with the rest of the car.
But aside from that, everything looks amazing!
EDIT: Picture of what I'm talking about

I'm sure there'll be tons of kits out there to "fix" the front end if you want...
I agree, the bottom grille looks awkward. I guess it would look better with a "G35/G37" type lower bumper type styling, but Hyundia probably wanted to do something different to make the car stand out from the crowd.

SeCsTaC, if you're only staring at the front end directly then yea, it would look a little awkward because
of the lower grill on the front bumper and the center grill above the bumper.
But if you look at the car as a whole the front end blends in rest of the car quite well.
The overall of the car looks beautiful to me. Plus, most people don't stare at the frotn end only.
Look at the car at different angle, like posted by yohan.
The pics below need to be looked at again. It's too good to be missed or overlooked...
It's drop-dead ridiculously beautiful. See below.
