A fully loaded FWD RLX at $50k is not a bad buy at all.

Maybe Acura should have had a lower MSRP since day 1 then at least they would have some material to Advertise with.

The funny thing is these friends of mine (and their parents) often bring their cars in for service but they don't seem to care (I can tell because they always drive a courtesy car lol). It's probably a Chinese thing - most Chinese people are obsessed with the 3-point star, the 4 chained circles, etc.

It sure is. I have been seeing a lot of the new ones lately.

Is this a common thing in the US?

In Canada, Lexus Canada is offering $2000 holiday incentive plus $5000 cash credit on the GS350. On the GS450h, it's even better - $8k delivery credit plus $2k cash credit.

$10k off msrp is definitely not a common thing.

Two of the local Acura dealers are doing the same on RLX. The cars have just been sitting on the lot for several months. So, they are just giving out whatever deals to make them move.

MDX has been selling well for a long time. I've convinced two of my coworkers to get them already and they love them. Both of them had Lexus RX before.

Somebody bought the Pontiac Aztek too.

It sold an average of 933 per month in its first year.

It then went on to sell an average of 2,276 in its 2nd year, an average of 2,316 in its third year, an average of 2,279 in it's 4th year, an average of 1,715 in its 5th year,......

What does this all mean? Probably that if you make it, somebody will buy it.

RLX Sport Hybrid to make debut at LA Auto Show

Acura RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD On Display at LA Auto Show

11/01/2013 - TORRANCE, Calif.
  • RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD is the most powerful and technologically advanced Acura sedan ever made, with 377 total system horsepower; delivering V-8 power and 4-cylinder fuel efficiency

The Acura RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, the flagship of the Acura luxury-performance sedan lineup, will be on display at the Los Angeles International Auto Show on November 20, 2013.

Acura's first luxury sedan to use hybrid powertrain technology and electric-powered all-wheel-drive, the RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD delivers V8-like performance with 4-cylinder fuel efficiency, along with the outstanding handling and all-weather performance capabilities of Acura's torque-vectoring Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system.

The RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD is the most powerful and technologically advanced Acura sedan ever made, and combines a 3.5-liter SOHC direct-injected i-VTEC V-6 engine with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and three high-output electric motors. As a result, the RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD has total system power of 377 horsepower and an anticipated EPA fuel economy rating of 30 miles per gallon combined.1

The RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD will join the 310-horsepower RLX with Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) in the Acura model line in 2014. The RLX P-AWS model made its world debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in 2012 and went on sale earlier this year.

All I'm saying is the sales have increased quite a bit. Maybe the $10,000 off is contributing to that.

For the sake of my stocks, I hope not.

The point is Acura can afford to make $10k price cut to RLX.
Yen has fallen from 79 to 98. and RLX engine is shared with MDX. so much greater quantities are produced.

Slap in the face to consumers. Sorry I'd rather have see an MSRP at $10k less from the beginning than some magical $10k discount because Acura can't sell the RL.

Sorry Acura you're trying to compete with the big boys by just putting a big price tag on the car.

Lexus/MB/BMW also gives big discounts/free maintainance once you reach $60k price range. $10k is not some thing out of the normal.

use 2013 BMW 535 asking $49k. (obviously there is dealer profit involov selling at this price)
Cold weather/M Sport package/technology/premium package etc. This car should cost over $70k when new.

Also 2013 BMW 5 navigation screen is much bigger size. I dont think RLX has powerlift tail gate in rear with leg. so when you look at BMW objectively it simply has more content/service for given amount of money. and without discount new selling. used car prices will not collapse to such extent.

That's because they got an excellent ES sitting in the same show room - it's not saying the same thing about the GS as it does for the RLX. RLX is lucky the current TL looks the way it looks. If Acura produces a more youthful looking RLX in the TLX, it'll cannibalize RLX sales for sure. Which would lead Acura back to where it started - having a flagship that is marginally better than its main bread & butter, yet charge way more for it.

I think TLX is some time away. by that time Acura will start thinking of giving MMC to RLX with some additional content. I dont think TLX will get as spacious rear seat as RLX. rather TLX much smaller and lighter with emphasis on performance/efficiency. it may simply not do the work of RLX. just like Civic cannot be an Accord.

I understand you are trying to compare apple to apple, but in reality the comparison doesn't produce anything.
This is obviously hard for some to grasp, but there are people in existence that care more about what they are getting than what badge it sports.

Which is exactly why I chose the Genesis RSpec sedan over the TL and RLX even given my 14+ year loyalty to Acura.

Don't worry. If he does, it'll only be his favorite brand for about a year or so, like his Audi period.

Then he'll realize BMW mirrors are not sufficiently aerodynamic and that the new fixed Nav screens are not touch screen.

Like many hybrid's, it's the RPM they make their peak power is most often different from where the gas motor makes it's peak power. You have to integrate the gas and electric motor's power and torque curves to get the composite HP/torque ratings. They probably make more than 67HP.

Yea that's what I was wondering....I didn't think $10k should be a common thing but then I saw Lexus pulling something similar with their brand new GS so I just had to ask...lol

Acura got the MDX right in terms of.....everything - features, performance, handling, utility, reliability, styling......and most importantly, price. Heck, for the base price of a BMW X5 35i xdrive at $56k, you can buy a fully loaded MDX SH-awd with advance and entertainment package. Load the X5 up to the MDX level and you are looking at a price of $77k+......Acura should probably use this as a reference and rework the price structure of the RLX.

The question is, is is that 67hp total between the 3 motors combined or is each motor capable of 67hp. If its the later then great. If not

I'm guessing that the engine probably runs on the atkinson cycle. So instead of the full 310hp like the FWD RLX has, it's probably "only" good for ~270hp. The three motors together make up the other ~107hp. I think the important part of these motors is their torque output. The engine is probably making 250lbft. But the motors together are probably making quite a bit, especially at low rpm. For instance, the Accord's motor is good for 166hp/226lbft. The total output from the RLX motors is probably 100hp/130lbft?

and somehow you didn't mention that car had 14,117 miles??

How you can use $10000 off MSRP on a brand new RLX to compare with a used 535 with 14,000 miles is.....

STFU!

You know there are also people buying Aztec, 4G TL. i don't really know what you are trying to say.
