I like to stereotype American cars just like everyone else (almost everyone else). and these stereotypes are mostly true.
But i also understand some of the cars like recent corvette and V series are not the same as the typical American cars anymore. They still retain some of the traditional american cars characteristics (like interior) but the suspension work is much much improved.

Dammit, we've already gone over this in the NSX thread. Due to the extremely lightweight of vapor, this car's 560hp is actually infinity horsepower as there is zero mass impeding acceleration. Also, we all know that Honda's horsepower is greater than all other manufacturers horsepower, assuming upgraded tires are utilized, thereby getting to infinity horsepower even faster.

let's be realistic.. There is no way NSX will have Infinity HP... stop hating.
The more realistic # is 560 advertised HP x 2.5(Honda's growth factor in HP) = 1400HP
Upgraded tires count for another 300hp.
Total Crank HP 1700
- 51hp due to 3% powertrain loss thanks to its 3 battery
Total Wheel HP 1649
Specs:
Redline 9.5k
Total torque 1900 at 9000 rpm
I-vtec kicks in at 9000 rpm
First turbo kicks in at 500 rpm and stops at 1000rpm
2nd turbo kicks in at 1500 rpm and stops at 2150 rpm
Between 2150RPM to 9000 RPM = TLX V6 SHAWD
0-60 3.7 secs
0-100 15 secs
Skippad 0.99 to the left and 1.25 to the right
Fuel Consumption = 100 V-MPG (Vapor)

I heard if you use premium gas instead of regular, the car will put down an additional 198 hp

i heard differently, i heard if you put gas in the car, it will cause the car the catch on fire due to Vapor + gas's chemical reaction.
Hey i think i just figured out the reason behind the burned NSX.....

The brand new Acura NSX is finally on the way and our spy photographers have caught it testing in production form, meaning it’s completely camo-free.

This mid-engined Japanese sports car has a twin turbo V6, a hybrid gas-electric powertrain, and is expected to make more than 500 hp. You can see that high-tech heart through the rear window. All that power will hit the road through a new super-handling all-wheel drive system, which is paired to a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The NSX uses a number of high-tech and advanced materials to keep weight down including aluminum and carbon fiber.

These spy photos show off the bright red paint finish of the new NSX and a number of cool carbon fiber trim pieces. You can spot it on the front and rear bumpers, spoiler and some trim bits on the wheels.

This has to be the final look at the car before the production version finally hits showrooms, so take it in and get ready to see the real deal soon. The NSX will be manufactured in Marysville, Ohio.

If the NSX has over 500hp.... say 560, I would be thrilled. Remember the original plans had it at 400hp. They HAVE upped the number. And remember this is Acura / Honda we are talking about, even the original NSX was "underpowered" compared to the rest of the field. I think it's quite ridiculous to expect Honda to put 600 or 700 hp in a car that was planned to have 400hp. Over 500hp in a production Honda, think about it. It would be beautiful. They gotta keep the weight decent though I mean like around 3500 lbs would be good. Under that would be great. Being Honda I feel like they won't produce a bloater.

so those are the production wheels..........
So they had a good looking wheel design from the pix in Chicago and they decided to use the uglier directional wheels...

I think it's been mentioned a few times that the NSX will have many options to choose from. I definitely hope that these won't be the standard wheels.......................

Looks great but am amused they took the spy shot in front of a trailer park (I'm guessing in Ohio?).

because we are talking about Acura here.
The next available wheel option might cost $10k... considering they wanted 4k for TLX's 19"

But that was the old car and back when 400 was up there, especially in a light car. Fast forward 8 years and cars they were/are comparing it to are at the end of their life cycle with just as much or more power and new models are coming out with much more. If its 560 they will be left behind. Period. They need to have competitive numbers/specs/times to the new models coming out that they were testing/comparing too when its released or they will be the laughing stock of the sports car world.

I think the difference is many people are satisfied with the new NSX and others are not because of the years and years of anticipations, disappointment, delays and etc... so the expectations are a lot higher now.

560hp is fine for release. Here's to hoping they turn the boost up 1 notch every subsequent year, after the first two years. Just like the GTR kept climbing in hp during its lifetime.

The issue with this car putting out 560 hp is that the GTR hits those numbers without any electric motor assist. So the turbo engine just seems like it's not really pushing all that much juice out of itself. Honda being known for stringing out every last hp out of an engine (at least in the past) just feels like it isn't pushing this car.
Turning up the boost and retuning the car doesn't necessarily cost more. So it makes us wonder why Honda set the bar so low.
560 hp is nothing to laugh at, but it definitely isn't wowing anyone either, especially when it's direct competitors, the GTR and R8 are coming out with fresh models soon, exceeding those numbers.

look at the LFA - slower than many cars in its league, yet costs way more. yet it already has legendary status in automotive history, for what it did accomplish and represent.

LFA is expensive for the same reason the old NSX was expensive.
It might not be the fastest but the High Rev V10, CF body, every piece was engineered for a purpose.
I seriously doubt the new NSX is following the same route. It is more about performance than engineering.
#5437
Do we know how much the NSX will weigh?

The lead engineer (Ted Klaus I believe?) keeps saying the NSX is about driving enjoyment being the highest priority. IMO that's a bit vague....
My understanding is that they will get the media to test drive it first before releasing specs.
As for weight, I heard it won't be that light...it's one of their struggles when developing the car.
