And yes, the car was a mock up. Base model vs top end model will not lose backup sensors. Or have an entirely different exhaust. This is a 150k+ car, not a civic.
I strongly feel that one item that won't be on the base (maybe as an option?) that will likely be on the top end model is the ceramic brakes. That's a big ticket item. Not backup sensors, lol.
Members of nsxprime have already confirmed the NSX was a mock up awhile ago..

I think acura is trying to hit as many shows as possible to get the car out there and start rebuilding their sporty image, some of which are very close together in terms of timeline. I don't know if it would be feasible for them to make all the shows they want with just that one car.
Other companies can do it, but that's not to say they hit all shows, or as many as acura is. That's also assuming other companies only have one available model also. I dunno. This is all speculation. I'm trying to give Acura he benefit of the doubt here

Jeff at TOV attended one of those press meetings at the Detroit show and he was told that the Ceramic brakes are one of the options. There would be a high degree of customization offered to the customer. The NSX will have more factory installed options than Honda has ever done before.
I looked at G35s and G37s for a bit, which had a higher degree of options and finding a fully loaded one was no easy task.
For the 3G TL-S, it's nice the car came loaded from the factory, save for some dealer installed upgrades.

The one thing I always liked about Acura and Honda was the lack of available options. Sounds stupid, but it seemed that way, getting a fully loaded vehicle (used) was always easier because the top end trim model generally had everything available for the car.

Though people shopping cars at the $150k-$200k price range most likely would want a certain (high) level of customization.

I wondering what kind of options can Acura offer when the base is around $150k. Remember, we are talking about Acura here, not Porsche.
wheels? Add on lips? Exhaust delete at no charge?

Other than CCB, I also heard that the potential buyer can choose the amount of CF parts.
Perhaps you can choose from different kind of interior such as suede, alcantara, leather, etc. Premium stereo and navi may probably be optional too?

Besides, they know their customers are there for a prestigious performance car and most of them pay cash. It's already clear that price is no object. They extract every last piece of profit possible from them.

If Acura isnt at a point to be able to have more than one car (a half done mockup or shell doesnt count) going around the circuit of automobile shows right now, or the foresight to have more than one ready to do so, how is one to believe they will be ready to start selling this thing anytime soon. Hell, Ford is doing it with the GT which is some time off from being produced but at least someone there had the foresight to build more than one to be able to go to various shows.

Oh, they can. But those cars are not designed to be value buys. They are for someone who wants to control every last thing done to the build of the car. Go do "build your own" on a 911 on the Porsche website, or the 458 on the Ferrari website. You can customize everything down to the stitching in your seats...ask me how I know ().

I think whats going on here is Acura working with very limited resources and tight schedules.
Their new management is committed to certain financial numbers and numbers don't lie at the end of the quarter or year ! So yeah, the NSX is nice but they don't want to lose their bonuses or even their jobs because they went overboard with spending on the prototype etc. After all, they know its going to sell damn well.
PS. Ford, I agree. They are very special bunch when it comes to GT type projects. Their dedication for the cause is beyond real. Something about tradition and company values I guess. However when compared with their Acura equivalent line of products, i.e. Lincoln, well they are still total crap (one just has to watch the painful test-crash video of the new MKS to understand!).

carbon fiber parts in place of the aluminum parts?
this just reminds me of the TG episode where they were talking about how much Lambo and Porsche charge for a CF valve stem..

Too late. I'm already disappointed with the delays in releasing the vaporspecs.

^ Except I doubt they'd let Alonso out on the track, even in a road car.
