No, not Aflac ... And not Affleck either. A flack. A Publicist/PR donkey.
but they do have some experience with FI though, so can't rule that out completely (and you gotta have a first for everything )

and a lower produced vehicle is better for R&D (warranty issues do not go into the hundred of thousands of cars) kinda like the NSX back in 91 for honda (the MDX is now honda's testbed basically, or even the RL to some extent)

I can't disagree with you there but I guess it depends on what they're doing with this car.

Here's the thing ... Acura doesn't need a 3.5L turbocharged engine. Audi sells a lot of A5s and they are just 2.0Ts with 211hp.

If the car is compelling enough (desirable), less hp won't be an issue.

Acura's problem isn't HP. It's that no one walks into the Acura section at an Auto Show or into an Acura showroom and says, "I have to have that car". Not anymore at least.

I think they should do what BMW did. Smaller displacement/high output turbocharged 3.2L with about 360 horsepower.

Keep the weight of the sports car under 3300lbs and you've got a winner ... Or at least until the designers get ahold of it

but then again look at how much Honda got bashed on for the NSX's lack of power compared to others (especially in the later years); so it is going to need something to back it up (i would also say it depends on the pricepoint of where they want the car to be too; like Genesis/STi/EVO OR Corvette/Porsche/Ferrari territory?)

as far as the A5's, there is also the available option of the S5 though, and if people want the actual power, they just go to that route instead

Oooooo listen to the roar of that IMA...

I'm just so conditioned, now, for disappointment when it comes to H/A.

What a title it instantly makes me think "Acura Accord". Not that it's a bad thing, but didn't they kill off the CL because it didn't do too well? Time will tell what Acura will conjure up.

When did they come out with the 2+1 concept? at least the wheel/brake setup is nice looking?

I like the looks of that honda concept from 2003. I think it looks closest to NSX and that's just great. I doubt this is gonna be affordable

+1. The issue is that the definition of "affordable" to Acura and someone on this board could be quite different.

Good to hear Acura is planning something "sporty". I'd love something from Acura like a two door CL from the past.

But how about a folding hardtop like the VW EOS!

it's reliable, meets emissions, and still has power left in it to be made

WHY redesign it at the moment, if it meets the necessary goals

!
, all that does is add unnecessary weight, let alone weakening the structural integrity/stiffness of the car (and YES, you can design around that some, but again it is just more added weight)

the most i would want, is like the NSX with the T-top (which also does not have any electric motors up high to add weight again)

basically i want a solid roof/structure over my head, if i ever DO roll a car

There is a new V6 in the works, and I think it would make the most sense to debut it in this new sports car. Much like the NSX was the first car in North America with VTEC. That a Honda sales consultant could point to the Civic and say "its got VTEC, just like the NSX." That probably sold a lot of Civics back in the day.

Well I think the media like to make things sound really good at first when Honda never really promised anything. That's why people get disappointed in the end. The rumours caused people to have higher expectations.

In this case, all Honda has said is that they are working on a sports car and Honda has made it very clear that it is NOT going to be a NSX successor and it will NOT be based on the HSV-10 car. But then people are already making things up saying this will be awesome, this will be the next NSX, etc.

I think they tried that before and while it was a good car, they decided to kill it because the old people in their showroom didn't like the young kids who were looking at it ...

LOL, so in your mind, there is no space between an Accord and an NSX for a two seat coupe? Amazing.

i would be happy to see a 2 seater MX-5 sized sports car with an RDX power plant and SH-AWD. that thing would fly. in fact, they should call it the Acura FLY.

if its a larger coupe then maybe the RDX motor could be the base model (like a GenCoupe 2.0t), and a 350hp J37 could be the Type S model (Gen 3.6track).

sound good Honda? kbye.

I still think that most people are missing the gist of IMA. I blame Toyota for making it 'seem' like a 'true' hybrid must be able to run electric only. Viewed as a small lightweight 'energy recovery system' that captures wasted energy under braking to re-use it under acceleration. It's simple and efficient and runs the auto-stop seamlessly. I really hate turbos, and hope that they don't go that route. However, if they were add IMA to beef up the bottom end, and run the turbo on the top, you might have a unique and flexible system.

Said it before and I'll say it again. Worst concept I've ever seen. And there have been some bad one's. There's isn't one redeeming line on that car.
